BLT Steak at Camelback Inn, A JW Marriott Resort - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My food with BLT was very good. The short ribs and Sea Bass were exquisite. The fontina potatoes were heated correctly and the texture was spot on. The onion rings were a disappointment and had to be returned due to being greasy and soft. The chocolate dessert was very good along with the ice cream. I thought the apple pie wasn't crisp enough but the flavor overall was good. The service was great and everyone was very hospitable.
BLT has been one of our favorite restaurants because the food and service are consistently outstanding. The popovers are a special favorite of ours. We especially love going when the weather is cool enough to allow outdoor dining. The view of the city from the patio is amazing. We are so sad that it is closing. We think that Marriott is making a huge mistake. There isn't anything they can bring in that will surpass BLT. We will be eating there weekly until it closes. A special note of praise for Sami the server. We always make sure to ask for her. Her service is above and beyond.
I really like BLT - I have been to this one several times and others around the country. I like the pate and the popovers. My steak was cooked to perfection and was very tasty. The provincial tomatoes also were excellent. My wife's fish was not so good - it was dry and rather tasteless. Some would say, you shouldn't order fish in a steak house, but if they are going to serve it, it should be good/excellent.
But my main reason to not recommend this BLT is that it is closing next month. Our server told us that it is not relocating, just closing.
Went to celebrate a birthday. It was a big miss... Seemed that everything was over salted to compensate for lack of flavor. The ribs were dry and tasteless, left them on the plate. The sides were ok but it seemed everything was seasoned so similarly that it all tasted about the same - smokey salty. We were seated next to hostess stand which made us feel we were in the way as they talked over our table about their other customers. We asked if marshmallows were in the brownie or just on top and no one seemed to know. Just seemed like the staff lacked training or oversight. Service would have been ok at a lessor restaurant but I expect a higher level of service at this price point. We ordered the 11 year old a desert thinking it would have a birthday candle or something... Nope... Just a happy birthday written on the plate of the free coffee brownie bites that every table gets. Most 11 year olds don't like coffee things - just a lack of attention on our servers part which summed up the entire experience.
Have dined here often with no issues and excellent service but this time anything that could go wrong did go wrong. Manager comp'd the dinner which was nice ( and appropriate) but I'd rather pay and have a dining experience that was anticipated.
We will go back as it is normally top notch- we just caught them on an off night.
The star ratings I have assigned are not accurate as this reservation was cancelled. The comment or review section would not let me proceed to the comments section without filling something in for a star rating.
Again, I have not eaten here and cannot rate it. I am disappointed it has close and I will no longer have the opportunity to try it.
I have eaten at the Atlanta location and I highly recommend to all. Very sorry E Squared has pulled out of Phoenix.
We always enjoy BLT.
Our server Sam is a gem. Very attentive. Great Martinis from the BLT bar. We especially enjoy the casual country club feel to the resturant. Popovers are amazing with sea salt to top them off. Usually I order the rack of
Lamp. This time I went for the Ribeye bone in. So tender and seasoned just right. Roasted cauliflower for our side was delicious. We ended our meal with sorbet. Great experience.
We did not have a good experience at BLT Steak. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were looking forward to a relaxing night away from the kids. Our table was so close to the two tables on each side of us that we could hear each others conversations. Our server was in a hurry to take our order and turn the table. We told her many times that we weren't ready to order the next course and she would come back within a few minutes to ask again. We ordered our salad and main course and they were brought out at the same time even thought we specifically told her that we wanted to take our time and wanted them brought out separately. My fish was extremely oily and tasteless and my husband's filet had such a strong campfire taste to it he was unable to finish his meal. We also ordered a side of mushrooms and they were completely tasteless and tough. Our bill was almost $300, for that amount of money I would expect a wonderful meal. We will not be back....save your money and stay home!
After visiting this restaurant with a group. I decided to give it another try and confirm my first reaction of "fantastic". A Sunday (or off night), the BLT opens at 6 pm, however there is a nice bar adjacent to the dining area. The Marriott resort offers service that is out standing and this evening was great. The dinner selections are varied, but they have wonderful steaks, cooked to perfection, with your choice of a sauce to accompany it. The filet is what my guest and I had. The caesar salad was large enough to share, a la cart sides and over the top popovers were served. This was a relaxing dinner in a beautiful, contemporary setting tucked into the Camelback mountain. Whether you are a guest of the resort or a local resident looking for a night out, the BLT Marriott serves you well.
Been here many times. Was excited to bring my friends who hadn't. Ordered the Kobe and when it can first bite was good. Then I realized it was incredibly over salted. Typical for chefs that smoke. The waiter was incredibly scarce. I had the choice to sit there and not eat or plow through it. By the time waiter checked in everyone else was done. Served no purpose to return partially eat cold steak when all others were done. Very disappointed.
This dining experience was great from beginning to end! We were seated promptly and the servers were extremely attentive. They offered a complementary tasting pate, along with their famous pop-overs before we even confirmed our dinner choices. I highly recommend the artichoke appetizer and peanut butter mousse dessert. One of the best dining experiences I've had.
BLT used to be our go- to steakhouse in the valley, but we were severely disappointed on this visit. The steak was over cooked, the sides were bland and for these prices, I will take my money to one of many new steakhouses that have entered the Valley and take my chances.
This used to be a high end venue, but when they allow crying babies and diners wearing T-shirts and baseball hats in, it feels like any other chain restaurant with much higher prices. I am just glad I did not bring any customers in for dinner that night.
Loud music, cold environment which totally does not go with the feel of Camelback Inn. Husband's steak and sides were very good. My "roasted" beet salad was pickled beets you find anywhere, greens had no flavor. Grilled shrimp was good on jalepeno grits, but grits looked like green dye was added. Not appetizing. Apple pie was OK...filling tasted like processed rather than made by chef. Servers were OK, but did not make you feel special given the price point. They all looked a bit disheveled. Go to Flemings, Ruth Chris or somewhere else for steak. Wish we had gone to Rita's kitchen or just had happy hour at R Bar.
Loved staying at the Inn, but this restaurant did not have the same appeal. Tablecloths might help and better dinner music. Save the loud rock music for the bar.
The staff took time to make my mother's 78th birthday special. They had a wonderful table with a view of Camelback. The filet she ordered was cooked to perfection along with the appetizers and side dishes. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower. The dinner ended with chocolate dessert and Birthday wishes.
We loved everything about this restaurant except for one of our steaks. The appetizers were amazing, the wine list was good, the ambiance and views were excellent. Our servers were fantastic as well. We would love to go back except - our steaks were average (fillet) and NY was not good at all. It is a shame because we were so excited to be here and loved the vibe. My New York Strip was fatty, tough and not very well seasoned. My wife got the fillet and it was ok, nothing special. They claim to have Prime Steaks but I've had better "Choice" steaks from the grocery store. We would go back for a happy hour in their sister bar but unfortunately, we won't be back to BLT.
Having the pleasure of 4 visits to the restaurant in just over a year....the restaurant is always on our must when in town list ...when our travels take us to the Scottsdale area....and with our son now attending ASU....there will hopefully be many more dinners enjoyed....at our favorite spot in town.
From the greeting at the door by the maitre'd to the incredible wait staff....thank you once again Chris for your impeccable attention during our culinary experience!
The meal begins with the most delicious popovers and chicken liver pate.....but save a lot of room.....because..the restaurant is just getting warmed up.....
The bone in filet mignon....just about the best from any establishment!
The vegetables and potato offerings.....setting the bar rather high.
The mac n cheese review from my son....two thumbs up.
You will not be disappointed.
Another fine and special meal (celebrating our 32nd Wedding Anniversary) at this awesome restaurant. The food, drinks, server, chef, management -- all come together at BLT's to become a fabulous combination of perfection. It is the reason why we continue to go back to BLT's on every one of our Scottsdale trips. However, what made our dinning experience extra memorable this time was our server Paul. He was exceedingly professional, courteous and very attentive. Needless to say, we can't wait to go back BLT's!!!
Our steak was fatty; the $10 mushroom was tasteless to nasty, so it didn't matter that it came on such a small serving. The server couldn't wait to clear our table, even asking one of the diners if he were done yet. Will only return for happy hour in the future
If you love steak, look no further. Sam is a fantastic server who will keep your table happy. Try the tuna tartar, dive into a very comprehensive wine list, and take in the great ambiance.
Cannot say enough about BLT. AND TO DIE FOR popovers with gruyere cheese accompany every dinner. Yummy!
