BLT Steak at Camelback Inn, A JW Marriott Resort - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Very good steak, salads were good, popovers were good (asked for more and they never arrived) seafood was fair, bacon was very salty. For the price, I'd rather go to Mastro's, Dominick's, or Mortons. The restaurant has no atmosphere either. It had a very cold feel.
We dined here this past weekend and found BLT Steak to be very good. The steak and swordfish were prepared perfectly. All sides are ala carte at $10 per choice but can feed two people. If the weather is nice sit on the patio with a nice view of Camelback Mountain. They take the Phoenix Dining Card so use it and dine with confidence.
Would highly recommend BLT Steak to anyone ever traveling to the Phoenix Scottsdale area. The service and food was of the upmost quality. My thanks to the chef and staff for a great dining experience. I made the mistake of taking clients to another restaurant and only wished I went to BLT Steak.
The happy hour is fabulous and a great way to try the BLT. We did happy hour then went to eat. The serivce and food is great. Our server and support were great. One of the people in my group had their food a little spicer than they would like and they corrected it right away. Great place to eat and enjoy.
Dover sole is my very favorite! Charcuterie board delivered before our waiter took our order is an amazing touch. And the pate...WOW! And, steaming hot popovers instead of a boarding bread basket!! Great wine list, too! The topper...the super cute busboy gave us popovers to go! Can't wait to go back!
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner - with extras. The chef provided a liver pate that was delicious. Pop-overs were also provided and they added an extra something to a delightful meal. Those two items were complimentary .
I do think that linen table cloths should be provided since the dining was quite formal and the prices warranted a formal table setting.
Like I said in the title it was our fourth visit to BLT. I will say everyone was nice, attentive, and helpful! But we were disappointed with our Popovers and Hanger Steaks this time around! The previous Popovers in the past were piping hot out of the oven!! This time were just not up to par or hot like they just came out of the oven! The Hanger Steaks were a little tough and weren't sizzling like they just came off the grill. Even the butter didn't melt on the steak! Everything else was good, but next year for our anniversary we will be looking elsewhere for our dinner. I would go back if someone else was buying but paying again for myself or my wife. We just didn't get the same quality as the last three times with food. Johnny and Dave thanks for being great!!
BLT was fabulous. The food was great as usual and the service was and is the best we have ever had. I tried something new and my waitress noticed I was not eating much of it and brought me something else... The wine list is extensive and their specialty drinks yummy. I had one and was impressed. I can not say enough about the service and food.
I dined alone on July 4th with an early reservation. Hostess was great, all service staff was great and food was devine. Interior and atmosphere is beautiful and reminded me of a Gordon Ramsey or Locanda Locatelli restaurant in London, but friendlier. I had the filet, asparagus and au gratin potatoes. Added extras were the complimentary pate and the delicious "popovers." My only one minor improvement to suggest would be to offer the wine list even to a single diner, as I was a guest at the resort and could take the bottle with me. I will recommend this one and return if possible on my next trip to Phoenix.
Upon checking in with the hostesses, we informed them that we needed to be on the road in 2 hours. We had planned a weekday early dinner with another elderly couple who had travelled an hour to join us. Unfortunately, we were there for 3 hours and not home until 9:30 p.m. Too long if all you wanted was an early dinner with good food, friends and ambiance. It took over an hour to get our dessert and check. The popovers were outstanding, the filet was great (even the next day), and the peanut butter mousse was decadent! Just be in the mood for lingering.
We had a business dinner here last week and while the food and alcohol was amazing, the service was very slow. The whole dinner took more than 3 hours without dessert due to the pace. The end of the evening had our host making eyes and waving to waiters as they passed by. I'd definitely recommend it, but don't be surprised if you need to be a bit more forceful to keep things progressing.
4 of us ( all senior citizens ) were shown to a very nice table with a good view of Camelback but unfortunately a large party of about 10 people were seated next to us just before our food arrived and this spoiled the evening as that table was extremely noisy and loud.
The views of Camelback Mountain are stunning and make indoor and outdoor dining a real treat. BLT is consistent across the country, though elimination of chicken liver pate was disappointing. Our server was wonderful - helpful, attentive and not intrusive. All of our steak were good, not great. Mine was a little too "seared" on the outside but perfect inside. My wife's fish was another story - dry and overcooked. Maybe you shouldn't order fish at a steakhouse, but if it is on the menu, it should be better than that. We had a pleasant evening but not up to our previous visits.
When I take a group to a chain restaurant I expect at least a minimum standard of food and service. Not at this place, it fell far short. Our group was seated promptly, however it was a 6:15 reservation. We had a group of 9 and only 1 server that was not very knowledgeable about anything. In fact, we did not see much of him the entire evening. We finally got our food at 8:45 and most of the entrees were cold. Several of the guest ordered steaks medium rare and they were cold and well done. They did replace the steaks with a very poor quality of meat that was undercooked. I can't remember anything that was good. We finally gave up and left the restaurant at 9:30, tired and hungry. What a disaster and disappointment for everyone. I was very embarrassed.
Don't trust this restaurant with your evening, there are better choices in Scottsdale.
We come to BLT every time we are in Scottsdale. The food & ambience is the best. Love the popovers instead of traditional bread! The service is hit or miss. The bussers are great but a number of times we would see are waiter/server standing near the hostess stand, chatting away with other employees. It would take either a busser getting their attention or me & my husband physically getting up to get them. That part is a drag. Thankfully the food makes up for the servers lack of attention. Obviously this has not stopped us from returning.
We had an 8pm Saturday night dinner reservations and were seated promptly upon arrival. The restaurant will still nearly full at 8pm. The south wall of the restaurant faces Camelback Mountain, so you have panoramic views of the mountain. It's gorgeous!
We started with a bottle of pinot noir and the amazing popovers. For dinner we had the halibut special and an 8 oz filet, the broccoli mac n cheese and the potato au gratin. The steak was perfect and melted in my mouth and the halibut was prepared beautifully with lots of flavor, and sat on top of a bed of mashed potatoes. For dessert we had some sort of peanut butter amazingness mixed with banana icecream - SO GOOD.
The GM, Dave, greeted our table and ensured we were well taken care of. Our server was attentive. Everything was spectacular. Would recommend for a group dinner, a romantic dinner, a special occasion or just anyone wanting a great steakhouse experience!
Steaks all around at our table and dinner conversation melted into nothing but oohs and aahs. Wait staff was spot on with recommendations for sauces and sides. Our favorites were the horseradish sauce and the onion rings. The peanut butter chocolate mousse with banana ice cream - par excellence. And a good time was had by all.
The service & atmosphere were great! Appetizer must: thick cut bacon. We both ordered the rib eye - boneless for me and bone-in for him, both medium rare and they were cooked to perfection, but the meat wasn't as tender as we expected. It was kind of chewy/tough. They are known for their steak, but I think we would've been better off ordering a seafood dish! Dessert to try: warm beignets. Would we go back? Probably not...
Very nice fare. Branzino was done properly and tasty. Vegetables tasted freshly picked and were very good. Even the bar made a nice Manhattan. Only two predominant issues: the room seemed sparse. It was lacking something. But that was acceptable and beyond the staff's control. The single annoyance was that service was very slow. Our waiter wasted a significant amount of time making too many trips back and forth to the dining room. We waited about 20 minutes for our drinks. Everything followed slowly thereafter. Overall, we enjoyed the dinner. It just should have taken less idle time.
