Nestled within the elegant grounds of the W Hotel, BLT Bar and Grill is an upscale restaurant that merges refreshing cocktails with a hearty a la carte menu, served in a modern, softly lit space. The menu runs the range of pasta to steaks. BLT Bar and Grill also offers delicious dessert to go with its generous helpings. Diners rave about the lemon ginger cheese cake, Kobe skirt steak salad and BLT burger.
Founded by celebrity chef Laurent Toroundel, BLT Bar and Grill is an appealing pick for a business lunch or casual dinner. Happy hour specials run between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. during the work week. The restaurants bar offers expertly mixed cocktails all day long. BLT Bar and Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
BLT Bar and Grill in the W Hotel is the perfect spot for a business lunch in the financial district. The setting is modern and casual, and food is excellent, fresh and nicely presented. There is a wide variety of items on the menu, sure to please everyone in your party, including meat, seafood, pizza, pasta and vegetarian dishes and an array of healthy salads (the baby artichoke salad and roasted cauliflower salad are great!). Desserts are also wonderful including a delicious gluten free chocolate cake with sea salt caramel ice-cream.
BLT delivers on every promise. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive from the time we first walked in until we departed. My daughter had the salmon and devoured every bite - even before I could steal a taste. It was cooked perfectly. I had the grilled shrimp, which were seasoned with a perfect balance of spice and salt. The accompanying grapefruit salad blended well with the shrimp.
Rising above it all however, was the taste of that foldover bread that introduced the dinner. It was like an egg soufflé with crust - so delicate and tasty.
Worth a return trip just to share with others.
My headline says it all. Order the salmon burger. Fabulous. The fries are great here as well. A little pricey but the ambiance is lively. Ask to sit upstairs. It's MUCH nicer than downstairs. (Time for a little renovation, I think.) I eat here twice a month as I work in the neighborhood. Food is consistently good as is the service. And the dangling crystal teardrops outside the second floor elevator are beautiful to see especially as the LED lights change colors.
Took Wall St. area clients to BLT for breakfast - great food and service, good atmosphere. Biggest drawback - takes a tiny bit of effort to get there because of all the WTC construction, but once there, worth the trip.
Ordered the filet, it was not good. I ate about 1/2, my friend only ate 3 bites of hers. The waiter, to his credit, did ask her if she didn't care for it, she honestly replied that it was dry, and I said I agreed. He said something to the effect that we just didn't know good beef. Unbelievable! The manager did comp her steak (not mine), but the insulting attitude of the waiter was not to be forgotten.
Located within the Downtown W hotel this eatery is more than adequate for normal dining purposes. The food is tasty, honest and well prepared. The house wine was mediocre however, better by-the-glass selections recommended. This is very close to the Statue of Liberty Ferry and right across the street from the 9/11 memorial. Blue Smoke is also very nearby, however, and in many ways is a more interesting choice (southern BBQ and a very good brunch). I would definitely go back to BLT when a solid meal is desired, without overly exotic frills but completely satisfying and tasty. The ambiance is not fabulous, but one can eat outside weather permitting.
Great spot for business breakfast. Food is pretty good and ambiance is so NYC.
While the BLT Bar and Grill looks to have a great outdoor area and we can imagine summer activities here are great, we enjoyed a quiet winter Saturday dinner with great food and excellent service. The Pop Overs were AMAZING!!! The staff was nice enough to give us an extra order as an appetizer... Would highly recommend this place for a financial district dinner spot.
I have gone here many times. The food is tasty and the staff is friendly.
Reliable in its quality, BLT B&G is always great for its standards and specials alike and always features seasonal touches. Great wine list, great beers on tap and bottle. I never leave dissatisfied and always feel well attended whether at a small booth, at the bar, or in a large group. Lightly frequented by tourists, they mostly stay away - maybe it seems too sophisticated - good for us! There's just no peer to BLT in FiDi and is always at the top of my list when someone wants to go out to lunch.
Got the beet soup, steak sandwich and tiramasu. Beet soup was good. Steak sandwich was overwhelmed with bbq sauce - too much. Tiramasu was good. Service was excellent and attentive. For the financial district it was good. Definately would order something else.
I've been to BLT Burger, and my friend had been to BLT Prime and Fish, so we weren't stranger to the brand. I had come once before for drinks at the bar but not the food so we decided to try it for the restaurant week menu.
The oysters were delicious and my duck was cooked perfectly. The lightly spiced panna cotta was smooth and creamy. (my friend's tiramisu was a rather cold (made it feel like it just came from the freezer))
All in all, the food was much better than what you'd expect for a "bar and grill" but on par with the rest of the BLT brand. I would come again.
Side Note: The table we sat at though didn't feel very secure and was a little wobbly but we're adaptable and made sure not to lean on it. That's really the only negative about it.
The food was great, all E squared establishments deliver in that aspect. But this sunday brunch - ehhh. And it was my bday! There were only about 3 other tables besides my party, the waiter was no where to be found, they didnt tell us ahead of time that we wouldnt be seated upstairs. The waiters explanation was - "its not busy so they are closed". Some food items werent available because "we dont have the ingredients." What?!
Then he overcharged me for the wrong class of wine. And then he disappeared from the restaurant and our waiter switched, he was much nicer and more accomodating. Like i said, the food was great. But the service was horrible. It is so plain and no ambiance inside. Definitely not how I expected to spend my bday brunch.
This is my 5th time here. The other 4 times had been fabulous. Other than the wonderful tiramisu, everything else was "off". LONG wait for dinner, next table complained about his "cold steak" which was replaced, the normally wonderful popovers were over baked and took forever to arrive, food was "meh". My hot plate had obviously sat under a warmer but food just warm. Seriously, this place has been fantastic on all my previous visits. Service was pleasant but not as great as before. I hope this eve was an aberration.
Due to bad weather our party of five was reduced to three, who were late in gathering. The waiter was wonderful. the food was very good.
At dinner, instead of bread, BLT serves these enormous popovers, hot from the oven and they are worth coming for - they are light, airy and fabulous with butter. The food at BLT is generally good - the salmon burger is wonderful and so are the fries. When the food gets a little fancier, sometimes it's hit or miss, but I haven't had a bad meal here and the staff is warm and welcoming. (The vodka martini was merely perfect!) Take the elevator to the second floor because the hallway is strung with the most beautiful glass bulbs hanging from the ceiling that change color. It's like walking through a waterfall overhead.
We had an exceptional time here. The food was what you would expect from the BLT name as well, and they have their famous popovers! The staff was tremendous, which you can't say about many places in NYC. Will definitely be going back!
The staff were great at the BLT Grill, we showed up a little early but they took us right in, Michael our waiter was wonderful, he saw how excited we were to be in New York for just one day, so he brought us over this wonderful dessert cake with 3 layers of ice cream and told us to have a wonderful day.
Then once we were done with our tour of the 9/11 museum and were waiting for our car to take us back to the airport for our flight home, we stopped back off at the BLT Grille and enjoyed happy hour!! Will recommend this place to everyone!
This place rocks. We went there for a chill anniversary dinner and Robert the manager and Adrian our server took care of everything, without being over the top. It was the best of BLT wrapped up into an awesome bar scene, but the food was tremendous as well. We had a great time and are going to "upscale chill" there often. You guys rocked it, thanks for that.
We stopped in for Bruch. The food was excellent. If you are looking to save money this is not the place.
I took a client for lunch and will be back with my husband for dinner in the future. Nice menu selections with something for everyone
We were looking for a restaurant in FiDi or Battery Park open on Christmas Day and BLT Bar & Grill was perfect. We especially appreciated the cheerful, efficient service on a day when many servers (elsewhere) are miserable about having to work. The menu was diverse and the food exceptionally well prepared. The highlight of my dinner was my superlative cosmopolitan. I am a veteran cosmo drinker and, I am not exaggerating, this was the best cosmo I've ever had. Don't know what magic the bartender applied, but it worked. Our wines by the glass were also exceptional. It was pretty quiet, as it was Christmas Day, so I don't know how lively the bar scene is on a normal day, but judging by the quality of my cocktail, people should be coming from miles around to enjoy the bar. Also a nice touch, the manager visited our table and inquired about our satisfaction. All around, exactly what we sought.
Waiter was very mannerly...used lady and gentleman referring to us.
In the W Hotel in the financial district of Manhattan. Restaurant personnel were attentive. Service was good. Brunch prices were reasonable.
Food was good but service was far from acceptable.
My girlfriends and I had brunch here last Sunday before heading over to the Sept. 11 Memorial. Our wonderful experience began with the warm greeting we received when we entered the restaurant. Our waiter was excellent -- friendly, prompt, and informative. And our food was delicious -- two of us ordered omelettes, which are served with bread, potatoes, and salad. My other friend had a salad with shrimp. We were all happy with our choices. Really good food! And I must mention the setting -- the upstairs room where we were seated was bright and had a very open feeling. The windows are large and you look out at the Memorial and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Loved the food, service and quality! Fabulous hot popovers and even a recipe to go with them. Generous serviimgs which were all scrumptious, from the frisée beet salad my husband had to the creamy pumpkin soup. Our turkey dinners were moist, beautifully pâtéd, delicious cranberry goodness, cherry seasoned stuffing and yummy brussel spouts. It was so much we barely tasted our pumpkin tart and tiramisu. We had leftovers galore which we have thoroughly enjoyed. I even had order a side of their mashed potatoes which I've had on previous occasions, the staff were also just superb. Others were dining and also had the option of the regular menu. I love this place -my 4th time. Always, always delicious!
My wife and I came to NYC to spend a weekend in the Big Apple celebrating her birthday. We chose BLT because of the proximity to our hotel, and the desire to have a quiet, relaxing dinner after a busy day of shopping and visiting the 9/11 Museum. Our experience at BLT is definitely the low point of our trip (and that's considering dealing with NYC traffic and the overall experience at LaGuardia airport).
The food, itself, at BLT is very good. That said, the service was EXTREMELY poor. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by a nice hostess and offered the option to dine on the first or second level. We chose the second. When we were taken upstairs, we were the first people seated in the dining room. We were seated behind a wall and basically ignored by waitstaff during the meal. Our drinks were not refilled. A very long time passed between appetizers and entree, at a time when the dining room was (guessing) 5-10% filled. Lots of empty tables. It took 20+ minutes after the table was cleared just to have the waiter return so we could ask for the check. It took even longer to get the actual check. As we were leaving, I noticed that the manager was standing in the same place at the lower level hostess stand as he was when we had arrived 1.5 hours previously. We never saw him come upstairs to check on guests. On our way out the door, he asked how our meal was. After explaining the poor service, he did offer to adjust our check, but by that time, it was too little too late. We had already paid, and I had no interest in waiting around for a check to be adjusted.
In general, I would say the food was good, but definitely not worth a return visit, not worth a recommendation to friends or family, and not what I would expect attached/affiliated with a W Hotel. There are better options available nearby.
Wasn't a very good experience. Service wasn't good, food was okay they were out of a few dishes. They were out of a few bottles of wine we specifically wanted. Seemed odd.
This place is trendy without being too expensive and is nearlt because it's located in the W hotel downtown by the world trade centers.
Food was good, atmosphere friendly. Gets a little busy at lunchtime and can be a little noisy, but overall a good eatery.
Having just taken a job downtown, leaving the Gramercy Flatiron area, I have been starving for decent restaurants. BLT Bar and Grill, in the W Hotel, fits the bill, and I am relieved! Now I have somewhere to take people out to lunch in my new "hood." But oh how I do miss Novita, Maialino, and all the rest.
We were visiting from Chicago to celebrate birthdays. We had my 10 month old daughter with us... Excellent service by the staff, amazing food and a fun atmosphere with views of the city!
We were in New York City recently on a business trip and were staying across the street at the Marriott. Given it was pouring rain we decided to go somewhere nearby and the BLT was right across the street. We had a variety of wines by the glass that were generous and excellent. Our entrees were quickly served and excellent. We would highly recommend BLT for anyone staying in that area of NYC.
We have been having regular 'Mom' Dinners here almost every month and have never been disappointed! Great atmosphere, awesome views from our favorite table upstairs, attentive service and excellent food. Excited to see a new menu at our most recent dinner. All our favorites still there with some great additions. And who doesn't love BLTs famous popovers!
Excellent place for a quick meal. It's a very short walk to the 911 Memorial Pools and Museum.
I asked the staff to bring something fun to my friend who was celebrating her birthday and they were so nice about it! They even added a candle. The food was very tasty, and there were human-sized portions.
Great location but poor service; many servers but waiter knew nothing about the menu and the side items came out 10 minutes after the entrees.
Excellent salmon burger and hamburger! Thoroughly enjoyed lunch. Great loation and choice for business lunch.
Being a restaurant in a hotel, you have to expect some ridiculous pricing, even for NYC ($5 for coffee, for example), but the food was decent. We went for brunch. The food was well presented and, overall, good. The Eggs Benedict was served on tiny cheddar biscuits and the poached eggs were a bit overcooked, but everything was well seasoned and tasty. The home fries were exceptional. Coffee was not hot and service was spotty.
