Blowfish Restaurant + Sake Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food was delicious and service was great overall. Their sushi rolls were our favourite. The only down side is now that it's winter weather, it was too cold in the restaurant. Every time the door opened it made us uncomfortable and difficult to enjoy our delicious meal. Ask to sit away from the door!
We were from out of town, and I was dying to try their sushi. We were definitely satisfied, Food was absolutely amazing! Service was outstanding! Our waitress was very attentive, personable, and gave great recommendations. I was also in the service industry for a very long time, and she gets an A plus plus! We sat at the bar so it was a bit more private, our food and drinks came out in a very timely manner. Great choice of music, great vibe overall. We will be making the trip back for sure!
Food tasted like a poor attempt at copying Nobu.
The service was dull, when I asked the waiter what other dishes he recommended he said "You guys made good choices, I don't have any" after only ordering 4 small plates for 2 people.
Most notably, I ordered the Tuna Tartare which tasted way too sweet to even consume and after eating a bite of it and telling the waiter how poor it was, I still ended up paying for it with no apology.
If you are using good quality fish, there is no point in drenching it in sauce, especially tuna.
The wagyu beef gyoza dumplings were mediocre and did not have much flavour. The deep fried shrimp was over sauced and was a poor attempt in copying Nobu's spicy rock shrimp tempura. The tuna sushi with truffle oil was decent but I would much rather eat sushi elsewhere.
Many of my friends trust me for restaurant recommendations and I will not be recommending or returning to Blowfish unless if they improve their food and customer service.
The service at Blowfish was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about all of the food and drinks, was friendly, and checked in on us enough without the feeling that she was hovering.
The food and drinks themselves all TASTED amazing, but I was disappointed with the portion sizes. I thought $22 for a roll (which ended up being very small) was pretty steep. The miso soup was awesome and the chocolate mousse desert was very unique in flavour.
Overall, we had a good time, but I might try a few other higher profile sushi restaurants to compare what I get for the money before coming back to Blowfish.
My friend and I were excited by our much anticipated meal at Blowfish Sushi tonight. We were dazzled open arrival by their menu and helpful wait staff, however it wasn't the wait staff that destroyed our dining experience.
when my order arrived it was not what I expected. The waiter was a friendly woman and was understanding and ready to bring me what I actually had in mind. That's when the manager came out.
The manager proceeded to scold us like we were part of his dishwashing crew, and tell me that I would pay for that dish and not be able to send it back. He made me feel small and I felt very disrespected.
The fact that I wanted to order more food, and that money wasn't a factor is besides the point. I will never go back to that restaurant again.
Tak is always energetic and entertaining. He's recently upgraded the wine list to include some very nice wines. As usual, the sushi / sashimi fare is unique and delicious and appears in beautiful form and just the right portions. Jennifer, our server was pleasant, entertaining and quite knowledgeable of the menu and wines. Together they made a tremendous pair and our guests were not only pleasantly full, but very impressed with the variety of flavours and presentations of the plates.
Amazing tour of sushi with a great selection of saki! Service was excellent. Bring your big boy wallet but expect to get what you pay for! Was a little loud but I just consider that part of the atmosphere because people were all having a great time and enjoying themselves.
