Very good food. Went early and very slow night
It was completely dead on Saturday night. Not sure I’d go back. Didn’t have the busy fun Saturday night feeling we were looking for. But great if you’re looking to have a very quiet meal. Food was good.
the sushi and calamari were amazing! we went at 6:30 on a saturday and it was pretty empty so it felt extremely nice and exclusive. Beautiful restaurant also!
Good food, but the service was subpar - cool welcome from the hostess(es), waitress took a while until first coming to the table and never followed up once the food was served, nor did she give her thanks (or a good bye) when leaving. Overall...unappreciated and unwhelmed.
Our server was quite friendly. He provided some great recommendations to orders, both for food and for drink.
This was an ok meal. The restaurant itself is kind of rundown. I specifically went for the tuna on crispy rice and it was awful. I've been to the katana in Chicago and their crispy rice is pan fried this one was deep fried with cornmeal coating and it wasn't a tuna pate it was more of a tuna salad on top. It was an ok place. I was expecting something more cozy and welcoming but it just seemed like a lunch place for all the people working in the building.
Really missed Sargent Tao's Chicken. Needs to be one of the signature dishes. New chicken dish did not compare.
2ND Time there and the food was just as good. I had the miso black cod.
Great ambiance however for the price, the sushi was just ok.
Close to the Sheraton queen st, I was on patio. Sashimi and tempura were fantastic.
Mediocre Sushi and high prices.
Overall touristy vibe.
The place is great and all the attendees are very gentle. The food is outstanding! A little bit expensive, but worth it.
Very interesting twists on classic Japanese dishes. Hot oil hamachi, wagyu gyoza in pork broth, and toro tartare were phenomenal. Very strong sake (and wine) list. Had a killer off menu Last Word (mezcal's the secret). But champion of the night was the truffle scallop carpaccio--unbelievable. One of the most truffle-forward experiences I've had. Kudos!
Went for the summerlicious menu. The black cod is a must!! It was delicious! The ambiance was great.
This was my first time at Katana and I will definitely be going back! I ordered from the summerlicious menu and everything was great!
We did the summerlicious menu at Katana on the Bay. The fish was fresh and delicious but the veggie options were just about OK. I've had much better desserts elsewhere - the doughnuts and the sake cheesecake were nothing to write home about. Overall, I didn't think the summerlicious menu was value for money; I would recommend doing the a la carte menu especially if you are vegetarian.
Location means food is overpriced. It's not bad but not amazing. However service is awesome, really helpful and engaging. Would be fine for a business lunch/dinner.
Our waiter was very kind and explained everything and gave us great options! Would love to come back
Absolutely delicious. Crazy loud on a Thursday night so be prepared to use your outside voice.... but worth it!
The quality of their food fell below my expectations immensely.
According to the restaurant's website, they deliver fresh and sophisticated dining experience. The dining experience was sophisticated; however, I felt the ingredients used were not "fresh". Regardless, the servers were very nice and the space is beautiful.
I personally think this establishment can better be thought of as a lounge/bar rather than a stand-alone restaurant. In my personal opinion, I believe the food is overpriced for what one receives. I really wanted to enjoy the food here and I was honestly excited about eating here. I must say that I find myself disappointed by what I was presented with tonight.
Had a great meal at Katana. There is a nice variety of modernist sushi and sashimi and dishes from the kitchen. Spicy beef and crispy cauliflower were tasty as were the sashimi and rolls. Service was genuine and also very quick. It's not too busy on weekends as I believe this is more of a week day lunch spot, so it's nice and quiet with modern ambiance.
I love Katana. Their food is creative and incredibly delicious. I've never left hungry, and I've never left unhappy.
Katana on Bay has a nice ambience. Food is quite good especially the black cod and the seaweed salad. Our server is friendly and attentive. However, it's quite noisy even when the restaurant is half full.
The food was over priced for the sheer lack of quantity that you receive. The taste was mediocre. We ordered fried calamari (lack of rings, although tasty), dumplings (mediocre and only 3 very small bites), spring rolls (tasty). We also had individual orders - mainly dynamite shrimp rolls. The rolls tasted stale on the outside and overall WAY TOO SALTY. The taste of our main courses across the table have been a general subpar feeling for each of our meals. Will not be back due to the price and lack of taste of our main courses.
The meal was great, lots of variety and tastes.
Will be back.
The Food was excellent and the service was very friendly
After living in Vancouver for sever years I'd thought there wouldn't be any restaurants in Toronto that could compare but Blowfish proved me wrong. Easily the best sushi I've ever had. Sake list was impressive and a perfect pairing for the melt in your mouth sashimi. Worth every penny. Fantastic service. Perfect place for a late night dinner on a night out in the big city.
