Blossom Ratings and Reviews
I believe the restaurant's menu has changed in the last few months. And the changes are marvelous! My group had the grilled sea scallops, seared tuna, and blackened catfish entrees - all three were delicious! I would completely recommend this restaurant, as it is one of my favorites in downtown Charleston.
We enjoyed our visit to visit our son at CofC. Our visit included a trip to blossom for dinner! The fried green tomatoes were flavorful and perfectly prepared as an appetizer. I got the sea scallops as my entree and it was delicious also. Would go back on our next visit in town!
Alaskan halibut grilled and grits with lemon wonderful. Grits creamy and flavorful. Catfish with fried green tomatoes and harts verts unusual, fully enjoyed by my husband. Service attentive and efficient. Wish we could have stayed for dessert but we were concert bound. Only, sorry to say that I'd forgotten about this establishment. Blossom is still a top notch eatery in charleston. We'll be back soon.
Overall our recent meal was very good. Our entrees, the mahi mahi , and fried shrimp, were very good. The seafood was fresh, prepared perfectly and the side items were good. Most of the appetizers were average however. The oysters on the half shell were much smaller than normal for blue points, some on the platter should not of been served due to their size, or an extra one or two would routinely be added at most establishments to make up for them. The ceviche, while very fresh tuna, was bland, lacking a normal citrus or flavored oil/sauce. The green tomatoes however were very flavorable with a unique sauce. The server was very good, attentive and professional. The restaurant itself was less than full, could of just been the night, however several other restaurants on Bay street seemed to be packed.
I loved Blossom! With so many restaurants to choose from in Charleston, I'm very happy to have eaten here. First, we liked the overall feel of the place. It felt comfortable to me, temperature-wise and the overall decor. There is a brick oven fireplace if you want pizza and that added to the ambience. I ordered from the specials menu. The Mussels for an appetizer was perfect with a coconut and lemongrass base with roasted tomatoes. Halibut was a winner as well with a nice risotto with sweet corn, bacon, and cherry tomatoes over a beurre blanc. The flavors blended well together and perfectly complemented the fish. Our server was excellent; everything was well timed. I'd definitely eat here again when visiting Charleston. Thank you Blossom!
The food was really really good. And it was served hot. My server was delightful and snagged me some seaweed salad on the side. I have not eaten such a tasty meal in a restaurant for a long time. It was exceptional. I have been in Charleston for a few days trying all the good restaurants and this was my favorite.
We went for brunch and the atmosphere was really great. The open floor plan was nice and it was bright and quiet in there. Overall, the food was good not great. I don't know if our server did not know the menu enough but in my partner's scrambler it was supposed to be chicken, per the menu, and it came out with beef. So next time I would suggest letting your guests know that you are out of chicken so that they can make a different decision, instead of telling them that they are wrong and that the menu said beef. Or if it is supposed to be, update the menus.
The meals were delicious and quite filling. Everyone at our table enjoyed their choices. The broiled shrimp platter was exceptional. And the ravioli was very rich and delicious as well. The decor was lovely and service fast. We will recommend to others as well.
A plus is they take lunch reservations. Good menu options for those who do or do not like sea food. Service was very good and the four of us could have a conversation without screaming as you have to do in so many restaurants today. We all enjoyed our lunches and would like to try it for dinner. Also didn’t feel like we were packed in like sardines. Good bread & butter. Nice salad greens. Our friends loved the fried oysters.
We ended up at Blossom when we couldn't get reservations elsewhere, places that were "top rated" in Charleston. It was amazing and better than these places we ended up getting into later in our trip. Our dishes were so flavorful! One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at.
Excellent food; the collards are very very good. Grits were good, not too rich with cream. Waitress was efficient, friendly, not overbearing. Noise level was difficult. Almost instantly (6:30 pm) I regretted choosing Blossom because I'd forgotten about the noise. I offered to go to another restaurant but my friend said no. Suggestion: Acoustic tiles under the tables to absorb some of the noise? On the ceiling?
First time at Blossom, though we have stayed in the Historic District many times over the years. We'll definitely be back. We had reservations through Yelp/Opentable and were seated immediately. John - our server - was great, very informative and provided thorough and accurate descriptions. The place was very busy and loud, but what we expected. The service was prompt and very efficient. Broiled Scallops special - nothing short of amazing! The lump crab stuffed grouper - equally amazing (John's "2nd or 3rd choice" as he stated!) Both meals perfectly prepared and presentation was awesome. Wine choices are limited, but priced reasonably. Blossom is now definitely among our few favorites in Charleston. Don't pass by Blossom!
We celebrated our anniversary at Blossom last night. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne! Our waiter was awesome (he did forget to tell us about one of the specials, which I totally would have ordered) but he was very friendly and tentative! My husband loved the striped bass and my crab ravioli was pretty good (I wasn't a fan of one of the seasoning in the ravioli). Wine and beer were excellent! The dessert was my favorite part! Order the southern pecan pie sundae - it will NOT disappoint.
My wife and I had the pleasure of eating at Blossom for their Sunday Brunch/Lunch. We have eaten there a number of times over several years . This was our third time since May of this year. Each time we have had an excellent server, Melissa. She combines just the right balance between friendliness and efficiency. She also has the most incredible memory of any server we have had in the past. The first time she remembered us from another restaurant at which she had previously worked. The second time she remembered what we drank and ate on our previous visit.
Of course, without having good food, it would all be for naught. I am glad to report that our meals were also outstanding. I had the crawfish and shrimp etoufee. My wife had the salmon. We enjoyed both meals. There were a number of other appealing menu items on the brunch menu that I would also have like to try. I'll just have to wait until next time.
