Quality food and ambience. Great Service! Steaks were tender, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Cesar salad was good and the ice cream dessert was great!
It was great.
The Valentine's Dinner menu options were delicious.
It was the last dinner service before covid shutdown so the menu was lacking. Otherwise, staff, service, and food were exceptional!
Restaurant was pretty empty likely due to the Coronavirus situation. It was a bit frustrating that we were seated next to a noisy table when here were ample other tables open away from that group. Food was very good and service was attentive without hovering over us.
Service is always the right combination of attention and being left to visit uninterrupted. Sausage and duck gumbo was very good. Everything I've ever eaten has been fantastic.
I booked this restaurant for my wife’s birthday. It was clean, but empty on a Friday night which was slightly concerning. We waited awhile to be seated and for the server to come by. We ordered half a dozen oysters for our appetizer and they didn’t seem fresh. Very chewy, no flavor, something off about them. We stopped eating them and left one on the plate. I told the server and asked her when they were delivered. She said ‘frequently.’ I laughed a little in surprise and asked her what that meant. She said they are flown in from Louisiana. I told her they weren’t fresh.
My wife ordered fish which came and was very flaky and cooked properly, but covered in oil. It was inedible. She told the server and took it back to the kitchen.
Eventually the manager came by and apologized for the fish and said she could take that off our bill ‘because it wasn’t eaten’ but would leave the oysters on.
It was definitely the worst birthday dinner ever. Not recommended and not worth the money.
Service was excellent. Well laid out and comfortable location. Food was a definite “meh.”
The broiled oysters were well browned but cold on the inside, like they’d been frozen or something, an excellent presentation though.
The walleye was pretty bad. No spices at all. Just lightly breaded. It was a good piece of fish but just “meh”
in prep.
The sides were all good and my wife’s filet was very well prepared and an excellent cut of meat.
This place seems to have some good points, service, quality meats, but they need to up their chef game
on their entrees big time. For half the price you can get better food right up the street on France.
We spent valentine’s dinner at the Bloomington Chophouse and everything was fantastic. We would recommend this place for all occasions.
Service was great but food was average.
Save your money and go anyplace else. We had reservations at 5PM on Valentine's Day. They open for dinner at 5PM and we were the first couple to arrive after opening. The host seated us at a table in the dark in a far back corner of a back room. When we asked to be moved to a table in the main dining room, the server said she couldn't do it because they were fully booked all evening. Remember, we were the first people in the restaurant and when we asked, there was just one other couple behind us and the place was empty. I took a look during dinner and there were plenty of tables for two, including a booth, in the main room. Beyond being seated in the dark corner of another room, we never got the bread service until we asked about it part way through dinner, one of our Wagyu steaks was not done to order after explicitly making it known there should be no pink. The steak was clearly on the medium side of medium well. We hesitate sending them back as that has not worked well at other places in the past, you get a burned out hockey puck back, so we take it home to cook. When we had them box the remainder to take home for the next day, we discovered they didn't box everything. The food we ate was actually good, but we should have just left when they refused to seat us in the main room. A better dining experience could have been had anyplace else. We won't be back or recommend this place to friends, or even people we don't like.
Dear JeffK, I'm sorry to hear your experience at the Bloomington Chophouse was not as good as I know it could have been. Thank you for taking the time to offer your feed back and inform us of issues you experienced so that we can address them. We hope you will give our restaurant another chance, and would like to extend a gift-card for your troubles. Thanks again, Anni Jordan-Amberg
Great food, great service!!!
Service was terrible. They Brought our food out at different times, side dishes well after main course. Crab cakes came with corn that was barely thawed and waxy, prices were very high for the quality and service
We had French onion soup which was excellent, a Caesar salad which was to finally chopped and quite Wealty. We shared a hamburger which was very tasty with bacon cheese and onion straws. Their beef is really excellent. The one item that I was most anxious to try was one of their non-alcohol cocktails. They offered Seedlip spiced and blueberry kombucha on their menu. Neither were available and I was quite disappointed. This is why my overall review is one of the most negative views I’ve submitted. The staff there was fantastic. Very friendly warm and engaging and genuinely apologetic for the fact that these selections were not available. I think I would call ahead and ask about the availability of these cocktails in advance of my going back a second time.
Very nice. Large lunch menu. Server let us sit for 2 1/4 hours - never felt rushed. Haven’t been here for lunch for a while - will have to keep it on my radar. Also love the happy hour!
Great service, food items are a little pricey but delicious
Excellent New Year's Day brunch buffet! I do not know if you have done this in prior years, but I sure hope you do this again. Will plan on coming again next year. We have attended your Thanksgiving buffet for several years now. That is also excellent.
Ask for table that is some distance from noisy table of 12. Ask for a table that is some distance from the very bright, open shutters near a noisy table where table members appear to know everyone that walk by.
We have been here several times, however this time was definitely not as good as it typically is. Maybe with the holiday and they could not keep up? Service was not as good as usual, the sever got all the tables at the same time which was not helpful. Also my salad had a hair and I had to send it back the salad that came back as a replacement had egg which I requested no egg in my salad, so I ended up not having the salad. My Filet was overcooked and slightly cold. Overall we will be back but maybe not on NYE.
First time at The Chop House. Amazing experience. Didn’t know it was just down the street. I’ve been looking for a good ribeye since moving here three years ago. Finally, a ribeye that works. Thank you! We’ll be back.
Dennis was our server who was very knowledgeable with the menu, suggesting several specials. We selected the Sea Bass and Salmon, both were excellent. Highly recommend the crab cakes.
We were seared and too over 30 minutes for us to call a server over to take drink orders. Meal lasted almost 3 hours. Only 4 of us and restaurant was not busy, so service should not have been so exhaustedly SLOW. No bread offered. We will not go back
Excellent service, not noisy like so many places these days. The food was outstanding. Will definitely be back.
The prime rib was awesome. Very tender. The crabcakes were of good size and plenty of lump crab meat.
Casual dining although I dressed better than most. The staff was very freindly. The dining manager was very freindly but lingered at the table a bit too long. We would come back again . Overall they hit the mark!
Waitress was great! My boss had the taco and soup and was not pleased with only one fish taco. For the price, there should have been two tacos. Food was very good.
Food was good service was terrible
For a Thanksgiving Day buffet offering, we found the Chop House to be a very satisfactory choice for our tiny family.
A great selection and wonderful staff.
Horrible service. Would not recommend anyone going here.
The holiday buffet was excellent. A traditional spread with a fabulous dessert bar to enjoy. They had the most tender turkey breast I've ever had, and the stuffing was amazing!
We go to this every year, it still is very good. Not as many choices as other years. Do miss the full size pieces of pies that they used to have 4 or 5 years ago. This it started at 11:30, so zero breakfast choices.
Overall, my experience at the Bloomington Chophouse did not meet my expectations. The scallops that I ordered were over-cooked. The bed of creamy faro that they were served in was incredibly salty. My recent experiences at the Bloomington Chophouse have progressively gotten worse. Service is average.
Excellent burger, perfectly prepared, terrific fries also - just a little on the pricey. Great service also.
Our group of 7 met at the Chop House for breakfast on a Saturday. We all commented on what a good experience it was. We all had different menu choices and everyone was happy with their selection. The friendliness of our server and her attention to detail made the experience so very enjoyable. We will return!
The manager was really nice and friendly. The date night menu for Saturday was a great value and very tasty. We will be back.
Thanks!
I was staying at the adjoining Hilton Hotel with my family and so we tried the Chop House. We were quite impressed with both the food quality, preparation and service. All were great and we would go back there again. I had the petite filet (6 oz.) and it was absolutely delicious. I also ordered the asparagus. Service was great and at the right pace. Recommend!
We had the most outstanding meal and service. The booth we had was perfect. It was quiet and very nice. Our waitress and the rest of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The salmon I had was the best I have ever had. I can't say enough about out evening. The restaurant week price was well worth it!
Can't wait to return!
Overpriced - skimpy cocktails and over priced wine with small serving. Tough sirloin steak - over priced for quality received.
After experiencing 5 different lunch or dinner fixed price meals during the October Restaurant Week, we found the Bloomington Chop House to be the best of all of them. The appetizer choice of ceviche was weak and not worth repeating, but all the other items were stellar.
The price was not quite warranted for the quality of the food (the food was very good quality, but not knockout quality-- and they charge knockout quality prices). The staff and servers were INCREDIBLE. They were very attentive, extremely polite, and very friendly. Overall, the quality of the food being 3/5 to 4/5 does not warrant paying 5/5 prices. Would recommend going elsewhere unless there is a deal going on at the Chop House.
