Fun and interesting menu selections,
Great service, wine pairings were perfection!
A hidden gem in the absolutely terrific STL food scene. The food was delicious and service was wonderful. A beautiful restaurant. It was our first time at Blood & Sand but definitely not our last.
The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable, they helped us with cocktails that fit our palate profiles and Cyril was spot on once we described what we like.
The food was amazing!! We had two orders of sweet breads because after finishing the first it was so good we needed another. Also get the tots, I know you are thinking that they are tots why would I get them but trust me they are worth it!
We hope to come back and get the tasting menu and try more seasonal cocktails.
The ten course tasting menu was great and the service phenomenal!
From wisconsin in town for the night and Did the tasting menu and wow everything was amazing thank you
Great 5 course tasting menu with wine parings. Each course had two or more options. Service was good to allow the flow of the meal. The music is a little too loud and bar-like for fine dining which detracted, slightly, from the experience.
We will plan to return and note in our booking that we want the 10 course Tasting Menu as this needs advanced notice.
Lovely venue overall.
Service was good. Wish I could say the same about the food. We started with two appetizers, one of which was mussels. Three of the mussels weren’t opened Two out of the four of us ate little of our entrees. Server asked but everything was OK and when I shared a little disappointment, he was not going to continue to accommodate us.
Fantastic experience as always!
Wonderful dishes in the 5 course meal. Terrific drink selection. Great for a special occasion or dinner with friends
We love coming to Blood and Sand. The ambience is always good, there is always something new on the menu that we haven't tried yet and the cocktails are second to none!
The entire experience was phenomenal! Raven was our server and she was fantastic. From recommendations to her attentiveness and service. There is a wonderful atmosphere and vibe to the establishment. Wonderful decor and ambiance. The food was fantastic. The 5 course tasting was perfect to get variety and still feel satisfied at the end. The drink selection is top notch and the crafting is superb. I look forward to returning as soon as possible.
Very complex menu but very good food. I wanted something to challenge my taste buds but this was my least favorite experience. The main entree of kangaroo loin did not taste fresh and had a rancid odor. I have had kangaroo tartar here previously and it was fabulous.
Our server Chris was such a pleasure. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu. The ambiance was terrific for a ~fancy~ evening. Will definitely go back.
A great restaurant for casual-dress special occasions. The food and drink selections are probably some of the most unique in St. Louis. Although somewhat casual, it's not for those who don't want to invest in their food.
Such a great hidden gem in STL! The food is phenomenal and the service is impeccable.
The food was incredible. The wine pairing was spot on. The service was attentive.
Our server, Raven, was amazing. Personable, professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and overall just great. Raven is an asset to your establishment! The ambiance of the dining room and bar were stunning. Loved the aesthetic. The start with prosecco and an amuse for our 'date night' was so charming. I was smitten...and then we got our food. It was good and well seasoned, but wasn't good enough for the cost. The Mediterranean shrimp had good flavor, but the shrimp were mushy, the heads were sandy, and there should have been bread to sop up the sauce (which was delicious). We had the squab and the venison, while well seasoned the squab was over cooked and chewy and the hibiscus/cherry jus for the venison was bland. I really wanted to love this restaurant. We will come back and hope we have a better food experience.
Blood and Sand is older building ambiance inside where it counts and modern amenities where that would count. The food has always been excellent and a little exotic if your looking for that (last nights kangaroo tartare was an example of both).
Great staff and the cocktails were excellent. Very knowledgeable with recommendations
Most satisfying dinner I've ever had in a St. Louis restaurant by a wide measure! The range of selection of both food and wine offerings is unique in my experience in St. Louis. The kangaroo tartare was different and interesting, but the confit octopus and elk chop were truly exceptional (be aware that the octopus preparation is moderately spicy). I had the tasting menu with wine pairings, and the servings of the octopus & elk & their wine pairings were quite generous for a tasting menu. Jake's service at the bar was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. Highly recommended for those with adventuresome tastes in food and wine!
The 5 Course Tasting menu was superb, as were the wine pairings. Can't wait to see what comes with the Fall menu.
Hubby and I were in St. Louis for work and it was our anniversary so I meticulously researched a nice place to have dinner to celebrate. Blood & Sand was unlike any other place we have at home so I decided to book our anniversary dinner here.
On paper, the experience sounds amazing. Tasting menu for food and wine, craft cocktails and a unique experience with lots of eclectic choices. But left disappointed unfortunately and both food and service was not worth the $400 price tag.
We did get a nice welcome with complementary Prosecco and a carrot “spoonful” tasting. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu, I had the recommended wine pairings and hubs had a scotch flight.
Menu highlights for us were the venison and the cheesecake. I was surprised to love the cheesecake because it is something that I never care or for but believe it was goat cheese based and came with a tangy and flavorful passion fruit sauce. The bass was also lovely. Skip the octopus. Sauce was wayyyy too overwhelming for such a little piece of the protein. Beignets were too doughy, their sauce was nice but would have tasted like a Tim bit without it.
I wish we loved it but it just was average, and certainly feels very over priced for both the food and the experience:
So expensive. No course was extraordinary.
We had a great meal from start to finish. Our waiter Raven and our drink guide did a great job directing and leading us with suggestions. We are already looking forward to our next dinner at “Blood and Sand”. Thank you all very much!
Food and concepts we're great, not perfectly executed though. I like my duck rare, but it was on the chewy side. Fish was just a little dry.
The food is imaginative yet doesn't make me think - wow I've never tasted this before. Service is mediocre for fine dining. My biggest conplaint is value for money. There are many other fine dining options that are better and at half the cost.
Great service and food
Reconnected with an old friend who is a proven foodie we had an absolutely wonderful time the food was outstanding Madeline was wonderful as well as the other waitstaff and hostess, will definitely go back!
It was such a perfect night! From our sever Syril to the spectacular food/ambiance. Mostly important part of the night, my girlfriend absolutely loved the experience!
Great time and great food. The staff made the experience very pleasant.
We were highly encouraged by our waiter to do a coursed meal with wine pairings to get a good “feel of what the restaurant has to offer.” We thought about doing something else but ended up feeling pressured into doing the 5 course meal with wine pairings. The first course we enjoyed. The soup was honestly terrible. The octopus was virtually inedible and we couldn’t even taste it over the sauce it was in. The duck was fine, but the corn/red peppers/Lima beans it was served with was literally reminiscent of the canned veggies served at public school cafeterias. The wine pairings were unique, but not worth the $75 for about two glasses of wine. All in all we spent about $250 a person for a less than satisfactory meal and left feeling almost cheated. Would not recommend the restaurant to others, and definitely not the coursed tasting menu. A whole lot of buck for not a lot of bang.
The cocktails were delicious. The food was good conceptually but executed poorly. While I could tell they intended to have attentive service, it ultimately came across as overwhelming and we felt rushed through our meal. I would probably not go back for a full dinner again but would sit at the bar for drinks.
Delicious food which was beautifully presented
We had a wonderful time! Will definitely be back!
Enjoyed the 5course tasting and wine pairings.
I had the 10 course meal. Portions were bigger than expected but was very delicious
Would recommend. 10 out of 10
Another great evening at Blood and Sand. We decided to sit at the bar this time to enjoy a couple of the bar menu items. Was great to interact with their award winning bartender, Jake. Had a couple fantastic cocktails. See ya soon!
Pricey, for sure … but great for a special night out. Ask for a cocktail pairing with your 5-course dinner. It isn’t on the menu, but if the bartender agrees, you are in for a treat!
Service is unpretentious but connected. Great interior and unique, “hidden” location, but in a slightly sketchy neighborhood-so pair up to get back to your car.
Our waiter told us that this is a private dining club that just allowed non members to dine also. The alcoholic beverage selections were extensive with some interesting wine flights, with very good value. The restaurant offers 5-course menu that seems to compete with Michelin starred restaurants. While the general quality was OK, there were challenges in maintaining consistency with the balance of taste. The raw tuna used was not sashimi grade. The elk chop was good but some of the side ingredients were too salty.
First rate cocktails. Portions were more than adequate. Service was excellent.
