For four decades (1979-2019), Greens Restaurant has celebrated vegetables with an intentional practice of being of service to nourish the Bay Area community and visitors alike with their vegetarian cuisine. The milestone 40th Anniversary welcomes a special dinner series with six acclaimed Bay Area chefs designing a special vegetarian four-course, prix-fixe meal inspired by historic Greens menus and the core values of Generosity, Patience, Virtue, Energy, Focus, and Connection. The first dinner is being held with Reem Assil and will feature:
Course 1: seasonal manoushe – akkawi cheese, za’atar, zucchini blossoms and caramelized onions.
Course 2: mezze small shared plates served family-style with fresh baked bread beet kibbeh: roasted beets, bulgur, mint, baba ghanouj (charred eggplant, garlic citrus smoked labne), lemon zest, herbs marinated olives.
Course 3: shish barak spinach and pine nut dumplings in garlic yogurt, mint oil, cured sumac.
Course 4: summer mahalabiyah milk custard, strawberries, rhubarb, rose pistachio.
