A big congratulations to all the restaurants and chefs that Food & Wine has highlighted as this year’s best, from Thai food in Philadelphia to outstanding desserts in Austin. Chef winners include Tavel Bristol-Joseph of Hestia in Austin, Niven Patel of Miami’s Ghee, and Douglass Williams of Boston’s Mida, while some best new restaurants are Automatic Seafood and Oysters in Birmingham, Alabama and Thai restaurant Kalaya in Philadelphia. The full list of winners is below, with links to restaurants for booking on OpenTable.
Food & Wine has long been naming best new restaurants and chefs who have gone on to be industry leaders, with past winners including Daniel Boulud, Michael Symon, Stephanie Izard, Tom Colicchio, and David Chang. This year, the awards are part of a package of stories that contemplate the future of restaurants, including what chefs think will happen to the industry, how restaurants can support Black lives, and the role of technology in restaurants moving forward.
