Dined on a Saturday night which was also St. Paddy’s. Restaurant was only half full. The food and service were quite good but didn’t justify the prices. At first blush the maths didn’t make sense but considering Calgary’s jump in property taxes as well as Alberta’s new minimum wage hike, perhaps this is the new reality?! We might just celebrate at home next time.
Awesome dining experience, it's good to see a great restaurant surviving in the downtown core.
Lunch was excellent as always. Never disappointed.
Way too long to receive our meal
Had to move afternoon meetings
We’ve been long time customers and fans of Blink. This outing didn’t disappoint and we were able to take advantage of the Dine Out week fixed menu. Amazing meal!
The food was really great, good location, and nice atmosphere. Its just too bad that the poor service left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth. It wasn't very busy, maybe 6 tables seated, so the servers did not look busy. Staff looked very blasé and service was very slow. We sat there for an excessive amount of time without drinks after we had ordered them. It was especially long before the server took our food order. I actually had to waive her over and ask if she could take our order because our entire group was actually starting to become somewhat anxious at the fact that we had been there for so long and she hadn't even come over and taken our order yet. It was about 35 minutes in before she took the food order. It was obviously a corporate lunch, and with that, service should be prompt to get groups in and out. Someone else in our group had to waive her over and ask for dessert menus/coffees too. And again I also had to waive over for a sugar for the coffee because no sugar was brought with it. Its too bad that the poor service dampened the experience and made everyone late getting back to work. Its unfortunate because we were there to celebrate, and people are still talking about the poor service at work the next day.
Awesome as always- great food, presentation and service.
The Big Taste Menu was fabulous and what a great value! My only disappointment was with the dessert. It was really rich and heavy dark chocolate. It really needed something to cut the sweetness. The service was fabulous! Very attentive and efficient. The ambience was perfect for an intimate dinner, great for conversation.
The menu is small but varied with local produce. The preparation and presentation was excellent. Butter lettuce salad with the Short Rib paired with an Argentina Cab Franc. The other diners started with the Mushroom soap and said it was great, both the Chicken and the Pork Belly were well presented and excellent taste. Overall a very good restaurant and we'll visit it again.
Came for The Big Taste menu and every course was fantastic! Would definitely go back.
Myself and a date are at Blink and ordered the Arctic Char as well as Pork dish from the big taste menu. Amazing food, attentive wait staff and good ambience. Will be back!
Reservation made for birthday celebration purposes. Meals were excellent, served hot and in a timely manner. Servers were attentive and courteous. Would recommend without hesitation.
Blink has amazing food and wines, and is great for a special occasion. I recommend ordering dessert, especially the sticky toffee pudding.
Duck and short ribs were both excellent! And the service was outstanding!
Food was absolutely delicious and service great! I was happy to finally find a restaurant where the music is not too loud after 8pm, it was was possible to have a conversation at the table :-) The only thing that annoyed me a bit was the furniture. There was a hole in the bench seat where I sat. In such a restaurant I would never expect that to happen. Also the restaurant was half empty when we were there. The staff should have sat us somewhere else, where there is no hole! I personally do not rally care, it is just that I would expect higher standards from such a place.
Enjoyed the charcuterie and a very nice half bottle of wine
We had a reservation for 3 on a busy lunch hour but when we noticed a group of 4 friends standing in line we were able to accommodate them at our window-seat table for a delicious, cozy lunch on a cold winter’s day! Delicious short ribs - will definitely return😊😊
Kitchen was incredibly slow with food service
I've been to Blink at least half a dozen times and never had a bad meal. I anyways love the food and leave feeling great. Keep up the great work. One of my favorite places to eat great quality food.
The best service and food, great for celebration lunches!
Went here for lunch and they served undercooked fish, I could not slice a piece off with my fork and had to cut it with my knife, ended up sending it back and had to return to work so asked for it to be packaged as it took too long. They ended up just reheating the undercooked fish (seems like they nuked it in the microwave as it had shrunk so much plus a part of it was missing). We saw another table asked for their food to go as their lunch took too long to be served.
Delicious food & wonderful atmosphere!
Great food, great service. Would go back again for a special night out
Our waiter was amazing, he was right on top of everything we needed. We had theater booked so he made sure we were on time.
I took a couple of clients to Blink for a business meal as I wanted to treat them to something special. The place is nice: it has a lovely atmosphere and is in a prime location. The service is good too. Unfortunately, my praise ends here.
Given that Blink was nominated as one of the 10 best restaurants in Calgary, my expectations were high. Too high perhaps.
The food is nothing special - in fact I would go as far as saying that it is forgettable. The cottage pie I had as a main was one of the worse I've ever had in my life - and I've eaten quite a few during my years in England. The beetroot salad I chose as a starter had a few specs of beetroot and pecans and a tiny bit of goat cheese cream on a side. No dressing, no taste. The roasted pears I had for dessert were served cold, so cold that they were as hard as bricks and difficult to cut and most of all, chew. Overall, an unimpressive experience but nonetheless, very expensive. A truly overrated restaurant.
The food was spectacular with a huge wine list to complement the food. I will definitely be back. Great service. Highly recommended.
The service was great but the food left one of us feeling sick and the other hungry. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. Appeared to be a restaurant in transition.
Great food cool atmosphere
One of my favorite go to restaurants for special events, family event or just a great night out. The service is perfectly balanced between being there and staying in the background, the wine selection is fantastic and if you're unsure the staff are well versed in providing advice. The food is fantastic, perfectly portioned for a full service dinner and the menu is rotated just enough to make each dining experience a new one.
Great night as always.
Great service and fantastic food!
Great experience! Thank you for a wonderful meal and great service. I’d definitely come back and recommend. My friend said BEST lamb she has ever had!!
We went to Bar Annabelle next door for a glass of wine before dinner. Cute spot with a well chosen wine list.
Dinner at Blink is always excellent. The Spanish house wines are absolutely unique and great value.
Tables were packed way, way to closely here at this loud, trendy, indie food stampede.
Our dinner turned into a rodeo.
Food is indeed good, no question, but overall Ten Foot expectations were met by One Foot delivery.
Extremely cramped, excitable, noisy. Share verbiage, spit, and frenzy with your festive neighbors flanked on every side.
Did not deliver.
Fine dinning is about creating new experiences and memories. That is the raison d'être for any "fine" restaurant. Unfortunately Blink failed by producing a negative experience and a so-so memory.
Like wine pairings, service and kitchen should work in harmony, an otherwise delicious plate or a good restaurant can be ruined by bad service.
This happened at Blink, the server was courteous and he seem experienced but unfortunately kept forgetting or mixing things up including the main dish. My wife and I were celebrating 12 years of marriage and rather than share a meal we end up eating at different times due to our server bringing pork rather than the ordered lamb. It can happen, we are all human and thanks for not having food taboos. But he also forgot to bring bread and ordering drinks required to "dial twice". Timing was almost to the point of beginning to wonder if they forgot about us.
Only a small "sorry" and here is the bill. In other times I would have called the manager but I did not want to ruin the occasion by righteously complaining. Hence, this our memory, not the monkfish or the lamb or the ambiance.
Here in Calgary, we have seen a rash of restaurant closings. Many issues including the "downturn", new taxes and higher wages have made the restauranteur business a lot more difficult. However, when a restaurant fails to accomplish their "raison d'être" then it has to withstand a lot more than the embattles of our ever changing economy.
We met up for dinner with friends and really enjoyed Blink! The beef tenderloin was fantastic and the wine list had great selection. We had theatre tickets and our server made sure we were fed and billed in plenty of time for the show.
Food was fantastic and the service was great. Went there on a company lunch for the holidays. Had the short rib (along with several others), simply delicious.
Our waiter, Kennet, was outstanding. He was friendly, upbeat and observant to our needs. Thanks Ken. : )
The new Ahi tuna plate was A major improvement from previous offer. Chunky instead of slices. The arctic char was fresh as usual. Nice accompaniments.
It was a special evening out for my mum and I as I was taking her to see Diana Krall. The food was great, and the service was impeccable. My man and I come her and enjoy the local, fresh food. Well done!
Always great - changing menu - welcoming - friendly - business and leisure -
