Blind Burro Ratings and Reviews
I frequent this restaurant and enjoy the variety of tacos on the menu. The food is very tasty and everything on the menu is worth trying. I’ve been there during very busy times and not so busy times and have to say the service is very inconsistent. It can a long time to get your order and the servers aren’t always that attentive, although , I truly believe they try to be. As long as your patient, eventually it all comes together.
When I checked in for our reservation the hostess was really rude. Not smiling, had a tone like we were an inconvenience. I honestly thought about leaving at that point. She told us that we needed to wait for our whole party to get there to be seated and that we could wait at the bar, which was totally fine and understandable, but the tone was as if she was annoyed. It was strange. Not a good first impression of the restaurant. Food ended up being great so I'm glad we stayed. Waiter was good too.
The service needs improvement. Service and experience makes a huge difference. We should not have to wait 25 minutes after being seated to be greeted by our server and another 15 to get water and ASK to see a menu. Because what happens is the entire night we spent more than 80% of our time looking for our server to fill our water and another wondering why it's so slow here on a Wednesday with only a half filled restaurant. Nothing more than a mediocre experience. I will not be returning. The reviews on Yelp are true.
Our waitress wasn't very friendly and we didn't see her our entire visit except when she took down our orders. She didn't bring us our food, didn't check on us or even bring our check. We had to speak to the manager and he was very kind. Food was also disappointing. I got carne asada tacos and my first bite was a HUGE piece of pure fat. I couldn't even finish my meal it was so disgusting.
I took my friend here for brunch when she was in town visiting. I figured it would be packed since it was after all a Sunday but we were the only ones there, not complaining though! Service was great, food came out fast, and the food was oh my sweet baby Jesus delicious! Especially their corn! I will have dreams about their corn, it was just that good! And their mimosa flight was really awesome with delicious fresh juices. Overall loved this place!
Casual, open, Mexican restaurant with sometimes rowdy patrons. Booths, tables and bar seating with al fresco dining available. Service was attentive (training new server), friendly and helpful. Several variations on tacos available--not typical Mexican food. The tacos al carbon were flavorful and filling. The meat was somewhat "chewy" but good.
Overall a good experience. Would return.
I took my mom here for Mother's Day while we were visiting San Diego. It's a casual place so the restaurant wasn't very packed for the occasion. But the food was delicious and the service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking delicious tacos in the Gaslamp area.
Blind brew is a fun and tasty restaurant. I often frequent the blind borough before padre game and it helps to have reservations since it's usually very crowded. The food is very tasty and offers vegetarian options. Sometimes the service is a little lacking but not on friendliness just on speed. The waiters and waitresses are accommodating just pretty busy. The noise level in the restaurant is pretty loud so definitely recommend just going there for a casual bite to eat. Great fish tacos and a variety of other great tasting food.
Went there with a friend for dinner. Our server, Carly was incredibly nice and attentive, which made the dinner so enjoyable. The veggie tacos were super spicy and delicious. The corn is amazing. I would definitely go back with a big group so we could try more items on the menu.
Quality of the food was good. The food was spicy even though they said it wasn't. Everything they served no matter what it was had spice in it. This restaurant is very difficult to accommodate food allergies. The chips were hard although hand seemed to be made there. The salsa was spicy and was not your regular salsa. The food was not your typical Mexican food it was with a Nuevo menu. If you want something different this is for you. If you want something traditional this place is not for you. I had their version of a Moscow Mule which they made with Tequila, I highly recommend it.
I fly to San Diego once or twice a year each year for work, and always make it a point to eat at the Blind Burro for a fun, casual place to eat, hang out and watch sports with my clients. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is always energetic and the service has always been outstanding.
Just block away from Petco, and a 10 minute walk from the big hotels on Bayfront, location of Blind Burro is very convenient. Would absolutely recommend for a fun place to go for good Mexican food.
