A really great Mexican meal!
Slow service. It was a little hard because a Padres game was starting soon so as soon as the restaurant filled up we lost our server. I’ve been there before and it wasn’t too bad.
Everything is fantastic, but the guacamole especial is my favorite!
Food was great and this was a great atmosphere for a business lunch.
Very lousy service, terrible service recovery and just awful experience. The saving grace was the food...maybe try takeout instead.
Very loud but the food was delicious! A little pricey for what you get, but again everything was tasty so it was well worth it! Also it wasn’t as crazy busy as other places would have been, and for that we are very appreciative.
Friendly staff and great service. Drinks and food brought immediately.
The food was amazing per usual. The drinks were pretty weak. Our server never brought us any water and must have left at some point during our meal. Another individual stepped in and seemed extremely rushed as she ran around from table to table.
Awesome service and great food.
This is actually the second time that I am writing a review for this restaurant. It's funny because in my last review I stated: "Next time we're in SD I'm going to return to try something else on the menu."
We decided to a take a train from LA for a day trip to visit the San Diego Zoo. Although I said it would be good to get back to the Blind Burro I considered a lot of different places based on their proximity to the Santa Fe Depot. After a long day at the zoo and discussing trying other restaurants we decided that we had to come back. Since we left San Diego our last time we had both said how good the food was. I have had some good food from great restaurants with some memorable service etc. and this place is just good. We were hungry because we saved our appetites for this meal considering we only ate early in the morning.
To start, we had chips and salsa and they hit the spot. As stated in my last review my intention was to try something else if I got back to the Blind Burro and so I did. I decided to order the Chicken Tinga Torta with street corn off the cob as my side. I was satisfied the first time I ate here and upon returning I can say that my opinion of the restaurant stills stands based on my first review. My girlfriend had the Power Bowl with chicken and she enjoyed it. She was describing how she would like to make it at home and that's when you know something is good because she doesn't necessarily enjoy cooking.
Long story short, I suggest that you try this place if you come out to San Diego for something casual, flavorful with a good vibe and service.
They had our table ready to go and the waitress was very attentive
Bland, flavorless food. A disappointment. Surprising that it is rated 4.5 stars on Open Table.
Amazing service with very friendly front entry staff who welcome you even if you show up 10 minutes before closing. They are nice and not fake. They made me feel like they actually cared about getting my food done correctly. They definitely are kind genuine and real.
The food was tasty, healthy, as well as unhealthy options. Think of burgers in a taco place.
I went here for a business meal. It was very nice. The server was very nice and took my allergy concern very seriously. She was knowledgeable about the menu and answered all the questions my associate and I asked. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Nice place, appetizer and dessert was really good. Service was ok. I would go for drinks and hangout but not for food so much.
Food was awesome! Def will be visiting again. We went for restaurant week menu and it did not disappoint well worth the money.
Friendly service, yummy food!
For girl's night last week I decided to pick a restaurant from the SD Restaurant Week menu. I love Mexican food and haven't been downtown in a while so I chose Blind Burro. The friends I was with said that I had chosen well; they've been here before and really like it. After my experience, you have another fan! Everything we ate was delicious. The Ceviche especially was unique and delicious.
The Restaurant Week menu items were plentiful and yummy. We purchased two meals from that menu, in addition to your salsa sampler, and had way more food than we could eat. I was still thinking of it the next day though and wish we would have brought the leftovers home! I will be back soon and also be introducing others to your establishment.
Restaurant seemed under staffed and the food took a long time to come out. Waitress only stopped at your table to bring food and the check.
Nice place, kinda loud. The service was very slow, but our servers were nice.
We stopped here because I wanted to try something that was within the Gaslamp Quarter but also Mexican styled.
We were waited on by a gentleman named Ivan and he provided great service. He kept the water flowing and checked on us while we were there. It's something that should go without saying, but some places and waiters seem to be waiting for the customer to leave.
For food I had the Pollo Asado Machete (a long quesadilla) while my girlfriend had the Pollo tacos with a side of street corn. We were both thoroughly satisfied with our food which was flavorful, plated well and great value for the portion sizes.
The place is definitely for a younger or young at heart crowd because there is a bar and music blasting throughout. It's not loud it just enhances the vibe and energy of the restaurant. I found myself singing along to a lot of the music. I could imagine the Blind Burro being great on weekends, happy hours, and during sports events. The food that we had was great, the energy of night was live and the service great.
Next time we're in SD I'm going to return to try something else on the menu.
Had the shrimp tacos. Fantastic!
I wanted something hot and with fish. The waitress recommended salmon tacos. They were fabulous. They came with a hot sauce
Our meals were wonderful and the service was very good.
Lovely dinner with good quality food and menu choices. Restaurant was a bit on the empty side so ambience was not great (although it was mid week so probably better on weekends). Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Good for a quick dinner.
I went to try this restaurant with my family, we celebrated my parents bdays. I wish I remember the name of our server. his service was so good and professional, food was good and for the right price. I am not from San Diego, but I will go back to The Blind Burro next time I Visit SD.
Great place off the beaten gaslamp path, offering unique takes on Mexican and southern California favorites. The coffee rubbed salmon taco is a must!
Margaritas were great! Food was ok, no burritos
Tex mex not Mexican. Very loud
Pretty good service. Weak drinks. Soggy tortillas.
We have been there several times l. Everything was excellent.
If you are going to do street tacos for $15, they have to be really exceptional and these weren’t very impressive.
What a nice surprise! Chill atmosphere, really good and reasonable meal and a super nice waiter.
Casual Mexican seafood dining here. Nice location in the gas lamp and LARGE portions of food so easy to share many meals or taking some home for sure.
Food was excellent. We had the shrimp taco which was was outstanding .
It's a lively vibe. The music was a bit too loud for me.
I frequent this restaurant and enjoy the variety of tacos on the menu. The food is very tasty and everything on the menu is worth trying. I’ve been there during very busy times and not so busy times and have to say the service is very inconsistent. It can a long time to get your order and the servers aren’t always that attentive, although , I truly believe they try to be. As long as your patient, eventually it all comes together.
Amazing food I couldn't decide and went with the power bowl with salmon and it was perfection!! My husband got the taco special and we didn't leave a bite! Great value for the food and ambiance was perfect!
Great place to eat before a game at Petco Park. Awesome chips, wonderful salsa, yummy guacamole and Taco Tuesday menu. They take reservations which is much appreciated.
When I checked in for our reservation the hostess was really rude. Not smiling, had a tone like we were an inconvenience. I honestly thought about leaving at that point. She told us that we needed to wait for our whole party to get there to be seated and that we could wait at the bar, which was totally fine and understandable, but the tone was as if she was annoyed. It was strange. Not a good first impression of the restaurant. Food ended up being great so I'm glad we stayed. Waiter was good too.
The food is so great! Love the menu options and creativity. Staff is friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to come back here.
The food, drinks, and service were all amazing!! We will be recommending them to all of our friends!
