Bleu Restaurant, in Columbia, crafts modern American cuisine with an emphasis on comfort food, served in its relaxing and inviting eatery. The roasted red pepper hummus with grilled naan bread and pickled vegetables and the homemade chips served with a gorgonzola chive crème fraiche dip make stunning appetizers. Some of Bleu Restaurant's specialty entrées include the roast turkey pot pie in puff pastry with a tarragon white wine cream sauce, the grilled beef tenderloin filet with green peppercorn and cognac sauce and crispy shallots and the tagliatelle pasta with goat cheese, butternut squash sauce and toasted walnuts. We dined at Bleu during The Mizzou graduation weekend. The entire city of Columbia was swamped with humans. But Bleu was right on time with our reservation, everything was perfect. So glad they were able to provide us with such a lovely experience. Would DEFINITELY recommend Bleu!

We have been going to Bleu for years and have enjoyed it a lot. We always ask for Brook, who is a great server, but only works part-time and so she isn't always there.

We had the Bleu Burger and regular fries, which are consistently tasty. We also tried the onion rings, which we don't remember seeing before. They were very greasy but very tasty.

The menu seems to have shrunk over time, which is too bad because we don't feel that there is the wide selection of items we have enjoyed in the past. We especially liked the several varieties of flatbread they used to serve but have disappeared from the menu. I realize that there is probably a cost for have a larger range of items on a menu, but we miss some of the selection, especially the flatbreads. Hint, hint.

I've always been a fan of Bleu, however the Mother's Day Brunch was quite a disappointment. We were a bit later(1:30) but you would still expect them to have a fully stocked buffet for $30 per person. The signature Brussels Sprouts were cold, the Prime Rib anything but, and they were very slow to replenish simple things like Deviled Eggs.

My parents came in from out of town for Mother's Day this year, and being from Chicago they have been to quite a few outstanding restaurants. After our reservation at Bleu, they definitely went back raving about the cuisine in Columbia! The Mother's Day brunch was phenomenal! There were just the right number of options - not too few that I felt cheated, but not too many that I was overwhelmed. The quality and presentation were wonderful as well. Honestly, my favorite part was the coffee - where does this place get their coffee and how do their prepare it?! I was in love - I would go back just to sit and drink pot after pot of this stuff! Our server (sorry I forgot her name) was great and kept us full on drinks and whatever we needed the entire time. Definitely going to book again soon!

We went to Bleu with my son, while visiting for the day. The menu is small, but the food is outstanding as usual. Our only disappointment is that the outdoor patio dining is gone - it was the best outdoor dining in Columbia

Nice wide open space. Did not feel cramped. Interesting menu with items that you would not normally see. As Chopped fans, my family loved the menu and enjoyed the food. A little pricey and the service was just coming on shift when we arrived, but I would do it again.

Went to Bleu on a Thursday evening. Less than 5-6 tables of people at 7:30. They were out of tuna appetizer, have no grilled chicken on the menu, just crispy/breaded to put on a salad, only had two duck entrees left. Their explanation was that it had been Mom's weekend the weekend before and their next order of food hadn't arrived yet. Really?? Five days later?? Ordered a Caesar salad with shrimp since no grilled chicken. The shrimp were not grilled, no spice on them, no nothing. Just a few cold, thawed shrimp on top of lettuce and croutons. Looks like they have really gone downhill. I won't be returning any time soon. On a positive note, the bartender was friendly and attentive.

I want to like Bleu. The Food is good and they are one of the few restaurants in Columbia that actually take a reservation. There seems to be a disconnect between the seating capacity and the kitchen capacity. Nearly a year ago I made reservations for my wife's birthday for a party of 8. It just so happened to be prom night. After being promptly seated, as we had a reservation and placing our order, we left 2 hours later having only had drinks with 2 young hungry children now up past their bedtime. Our waitress was apologetic and offered to waive the bill. We paid her for the drinks because I felt sorry for her. It took me a year to return. I again had reservations for 4. Again we we were promptly seated. This time there was a large fundraising event in their basement facility. This time after waiting about an hour our salads were served. It was another 30 minutes before our meal arrived. The manager did comp us our drinks which was nice. Prior to writing this review I did express my concerns about the slow service and the apparent disconnect between restaurant capacity and kitchen capacity via Bleu's website contact form. I left my phone number and e-mail. After 3 weeks and no response I am now writing this review.

We came for the fabulous Sunday brunch buffet; however, after being seated we were told that they no longer do the buffet even though it is still advertised on their website. We decided to stay since it was Easter and many other places were closed. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. Now that the brunch buffet is no longer being offered I doubt we will go again. Such a disappointment! Used to be the best brunch in town!

We have always enjoyed Bleu's Sunday brunch buffet. We were quite disappointed that they have discontinued the Sunday brunch buffet. We ordered off the menu instead. A nice selection of lunch sandwiches and salads, and also typical breakfast foods. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared, BUT, it wasn't the buffet we were expecting.

FYI, I was on a Date with my European Girl Friend and in Europe the waiter never comes to the table until they are summoned. Also, after dinner if it was good to get up and leave before 3 hours is up is an insult to the Restaurant. She grew up in Austria and has been here for 6 months. I finally got up and told the waiter what was going on and to leave us alone. He understood.

We had a group of 4 for dinner on a Friday night. Friends had raved to us about how great the place was. It was not a bad place at all, but not much attention was given to food prep. Neither the steak nor pork chop was cooked to the requested temp. Perhaps they had a bad night...

We went for brunch over MU Parents weekend. The buffet was good and there was nice variety, but they just didn't seem to have it together. The buffet wasn't restocked as quickly as it should have been. There were the little delays & annoyances that add up. The staff was trying hard and our waiter was quite nice but overall I think the restaurant was overwhelmed and I wasn't overly satisfied given what we paid.

We had the cauliflower appetizer and it was amazing, but it was also huge, large enough for 4 or 6 to share. It was a busy weekend, Mizzou parents weekend, home football game. So it was a bit busy in the restaurant, and the waitress forgot to bring out my second glass of wine and the side dish for my husband. However, the manager apologized, got them for us eventually, and comped these items for us. Overall, our experience was very good and we will most definitely return another time. We have 4 years of visits to Columbia.

Bleu was having kitchen issues which forced our dinner to come out late. The manager came around to every table and apologized. He also gave us a gift card to come back. We will give it another shot.

I have often gone to Bleu for dinner and this was the first time I went for lunch. My companion obviously appreciates food and drink and he had a great time. He really likes risotto and enjoyed the risotto with salmon as well as two glasses of pinot noir. The Bleu Burger is consistently great, with the very tasty fries, which I had as well. The booths are comfortable and private and we had a nice long conversation over lunch.

We made a reservation via open table as we would be dining with a group following a Mizzou football game and were worried it would be packed. Table was ready when we arrived 20 minutes early, room was clean and inviting. Our waiter Shane was awesome. We could have been a troublesome table for some waiters, asking for drink alterations, food substitutions and such, but Shane was on point with suggestions and could not have been more accomodating. He made us feel like the most important people in the room, and it was awesome. Our food was great, especially the Pork Belly Won Ton starter. I had a craving for Mac N Cheese, but also a steak. When I asked out waiter if that could happen, he replied with "Of course" and made it happen. What more could a guy ask for. We will be back, hoping for Shane as our waiter.

I'm not great at remembering names of items, but we really enjoyed the batter fried cauliflower for an appetizer. It was hot and crispy on the outside with a curry drizzle accompanied by some fruit drizzle as well. There were 4 of us and this appetizer was more than enough for all. Good portion. My husband said his shrimp and grits was excellent and he would consider having it again. We sat outside and it was lovely although if the umbrellas had been tipped a little against the sun, we might have avoided the setting sun in our eyes. We had a great time. Thanks.

I eat out a lot in Columbia, usually 6 nights a week. Bleu is not my favorite but it's a great option if you are looking for a diverse menu downtown. Always easy to get a reservation on OpenTable which I love. Good burgers, sandwiches, flatbreads, desserts.
