Food is always great, service is always slow. Dining room was extremely warm. Still love it though.
We really enjoyed our evening at Bleu Boheme. We were celebrating a birthday and it was perfect. I would definitely recommend it for any one and any occasion.
The food at Bleu Boheme was outstanding! My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday here as we were intrigued by some of the menu options. We ordered the Crab Croquettes, the Steak Tartare, the Parmesean Gnocchi, and the Angus Beef Cheeks. All were delicious in their own ways, but our favorite had to be the Beef Cheeks. It was so tender and so easy to cut through and eat; honestly incredible. However, I feel like the service could have been a little bit better - we were left unattended about 3-4 times while waiting for the next course or while we waited for the check. It was not extremely busy, but perhaps they were understaffed and we didn't know? Either way, the cuisine was absolutely amazing.
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, outstanding service and all in a neighborhood setting, the best. Worth the visit.
Based on prior reviews, I was expecting an "out of the park" experience and unfortunately it didn't quite make it there for me. It was very noisy due to a boisterous birthday party next to us. They were loud and spoiled the atmosphere for me. On my meal, my french onion soup was typically French, in other words, it was tasteless. I didn't taste anything in it to elevate it in terms of seasoning (maybe some thyme and wine?). It also needed salt. My beet salad with goat cheese was not memorable, just ok. The Jidori chicken my husband had was fine according to him. One note. In passing by the kitchen on my way to the restroom. I could see how messy it was and if i had seen it before, too bad I didn't see that before. This was a nit of a turn off for me. I measure restaurants by the condition of their bathrooms and their kitchens, and overall cleaniness. On a good note. The young lady at the reception desk was very nice and professional as was my male server.
We always enjoy meals at Bleu Boheme! The candles at every table are fun, almost like living artwork. The happy hour menu at the bar is really great, but the dinner menu is better! Our favorite dish is definitely the mussels. Honestly, if you only go to eat the mussels with copious amounts of bread to soak up the broth, it is totally worth it!
We've been to Bleu Boheme many times. We really like their food as a whole. This time is was the girls catching up and food wasn't really on our mind. So the noise level ( concrete floors and solid ceiling) didn't help with our talking, actually couldn't hear half the time. We just ordered appetizers and wine so not much to eat. Crab cakes were good, squash soup very nice, fois gras a bit light on the meat and heavy on the salad, beet salad kinda average.
Still we will return to one of our favorite places without a 30 minute drive.
Always recommend the daily soup. Everything we had from butternut squash soup, mushroom raviolis, 3 goat cheese pear salad to the salmon was delectable. Nice sparkling wine selection to start.
We've always enjoyed dining at Bleu Boheme over the past years. They never fail to
make your dining experience special, delicious and beautiful. My wife and I
celebrated our 45th Wedding Anniversary on this last occasion - I had requested
a few special ideas and the staff and ownership came through wonderfully - everything
was perfect. Merci beaucoup, to everyone at Bleu Boheme for your attention to
The crab cakes were good and the butternut squash soup was very good. The chicken Judith was delicious.
..an 82nd birthday celebration ... like dining at a Paris cafe!!
We each had mussels! Prepared different ways but elegant respectively.
Service was excellent and the atmosphere very French. Candles on every table ... the vibe was great. Not too loud so conversation was heard and delightful .
Promise not too long between visits!
We had amazing service from our server and busser. She helped guide me through best gluten free options and suggested a delicious basil martini. She even brought a chocolate moussse for our anniversary. 10/10!!
Wonderful restaurant with great atmosphere and awesome French food. Seats outside were made for children, they were so small and short. Service was a bit slow at first, but still worth the visit for sure.
Amazing! Brought friends for a new experience - we’ll all be back.
Blue Boheme is one of our favorite San Diego restaurants. We dine here often. The decor lovely, not overdone. French countryside style. The menu is excellent. They actually give thought to the noise level. You can carry on a conversation, although sometimes the taped music is too loud. The food is well prepared and the presentation is lovely. On the most recent visit, my wife's steak was a bit tough but otherwise the meal was very good. Ken, our waiter, was delightful: helpful but not intrusive.
With the advent of some new menu preparations and a return to the original Chef de Cuisine the culinary team has elevated the overall dining experience making Blue Boheme one of the most enjoyable food experiences in San Diego.
Perfect neighborhood spot for a special occassion. They gave us a Happy Anniversary card signed by the staff, and a free chocolate mousse for dessert. Very classy, super sweet.
First Time there.... we try to do a New Restuarant every Week!! Very Pleased with Everything, Not Rushed Very Enjoyable Evening. Would we come Back ....absolutely and Very Soon !
It was fantastic from soup to nuts. We loved all aspects of the meal.
the food is amazing and the staff is very friendly.
Small plates, soups, desserts, were great. Disappointed in he Boef Burgundy (higher grade of beef needed). Wine fairly priced (for restaurants). Lovely atmosphere.
Apetizers were creative and tasty. Basil Martinis are awesome.
Excellent preparation made with fresh ingredients. Top notch French cuisine-authentic. What I miss about actually being in a French restaurant is the noise level. Like far too many American restaurants the shouting and loud laughter sounds more like bar. The dinning room is beautiful but with hard surfaces and Amercans, not so peaceful.
Food was just ok - not well seasoned. $187 for 4 people- no alcohol. Service was nice but slow.
Great food and service as always .. we will be back soon!!!
Love this place as we use it.... we go just before 6 for the very reasonable 3 course fixed menu at $32. That is a great deal! and before six it is reasonably quiet. One room which has a nice atmosphere has stone walls and must be very loud when crowded. Another room isn't as "french" feeling. Our service last time was disappointingly slow especially given the early hour. Food very good.
Outside seating quieter. Mussels terrific. Service efficient and not intrusive. Lovely evening.
I go to this restaurant from time to time and always enjoy the experience, the food, the ambiance, the service. The fish is always outstanding.
Both my husband and I got sick with the food. I actually reacted right away after finishing my entree. We both shared the mussels and I believe they were not fresh. Will definitely not go back.
Very good food and service.
My salmon was very small and old. This was the first time I did
not really enjoy the food.
The food was very blend
The prix fixe menu was a very good value! Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Ambiance
quiet unlike many restaurants today. Main negative was the bare wood seats and benches. My group was five retired men who meet once a month for dinner. Service was slow so we had to stand up between courses to relieve our protesting posteriors! Never had to do that in a restaurant before.
Ambiance: lovely but NOISY
Yum! Such a great neighborhood staple with high quality, thoughtful food.
Absolutely amazing food and everyone is nice and polite. Highly recommended
Very good food and service. We had a great time there!
Amazing food! Thanks for a wonderful meal.
I've been here several times, and requested to go here for my birthday. It is always wonderful. I love that they offer a 3 course prix fix menu for only 32.00 from 5-6pm nightly. Great gem in the Kensington area.
