Amazing food! Thanks for a wonderful meal.
We ate outside. Everything was great but the waiter apologized for the long wait between ordering and dining. Even getting our drinks took a long time
This would be such a great place if only the food lived up to the ambiance and service. I've eaten here 5-7 times and discovered it's more a question of what isn't bad, than what's good on the menu. The onion soup for example--thin, watery and too sweet. Nothing like what it's supposed to be--rich, deep and beefy. Ever hear of roasting beef bones then boiling them for hours in water with bouquet garni until the liquid reduces? Broth I believe it's called. Another example--both the salmon and steak tartare (had them on last visit) were completely unseasoned. Where's the salt, pepper (and for the beef a little mustard, egg yoke, chopped onion, pickle, maybe)? Not in those dishes. The mussels are okay--if only because you can't really mess those up. I don't think this is an execution issue with the cooks, I think the corporate bosses just don't have (or don't use) good recipes and ingredients. In short, bad food at high prices in what would otherwise be a great place given the quality ambiance and service.
Bleu Boheme always delivers! Service is great, cocktails are lovely, and the BREAD! My only complaint was the steak tartare, which was smoked (not raw) and otherwise flavorless. A poor choice if expecting a traditional French treat.
Dinner on Bastille Day started out well; service was slow because it was a Saturday and it had been busy earlier than our 8:00 reservation. But as tables started clearing, the service did not get more timely. Bread was prompt and good; water glasses were kept filled. Table was in a nice spot but was quite warm; when I mentioned that to the server he basically just agreed and implied there was nothing to be done. Appetizers were tasty. Husband’s rack of lamb special was delicious. My steak frite however, as I told the server, was disapponting. Meat was over cooked ( supposed to be medium rare), fries were tepid, and the kitchen had included carmelized onions (not mentioned on the menu) between my steak and the sauce bernaise, which defeated the taste of the sauce. (The waiter claimed they had just started including onions on steaks.) I sent it back to the kitchen after a few bites and said it wasn’t acceptable but at that point I didn’t want to wait any longer for a replacement. The manager came over, apologized for the busy kitchen (although no longer busy), and said they would comp drinks and desserts, which we thought meant for both of us. On the bill they did comp mine, total $24, but charged $32 for the steak. So the net cost meant I paid $8 for an entree I couldn’t eat.
Great little place in Kensington. A vast wine list to choose from and the food is superb. I was recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint!
Everything was fine, except that the noise level was a little high.
Fabulous dining experience
Food was alive with taste, service was smooth and the ambience was romantic
This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. It is a rock solid 10 plus eatery.
We've celebrated many birthdays at BB, and will continue to because we've never been disappointed. The seasonal menu is nice, the service is always good/excellent, the wine list is authentic and varied, and the prix fixe menu is a great bargain!
This time we enjoyed two classic French dishes; steak frites and duck confit. Both were excellent! The bibb salad was very nice, and for dessert we selected profiteroles (good, not great) and a delicious chocolate mousse. In the past we loved the Alsatian onion and bacon tarte, will definitely have that next time!
Please keep up the good work!
This place is the best kept secret in San Diego. It is a very French atmosphere and will not disappoint. Our waiter, Leo, was very attentive and professional. The food here is creative and delicious.
Bleu Boheme is simply one of my favorites in San Diego!!
We come to Bleu Boheme over and over for the ambiance and delicious French food. Prices are pretty average for this type of restaurant. The house specialty is mussels and the many sauce options can't be beat. All are delicious. This time I tried the moutarde sauce and it quickly become my new fave. Friend had the mussels Provencales and she also raved. Love the extra bit of wine in every pichet. Nice. Hubby had the salmon, and although not a fan of eggplant, he did love the touch of eggplant puree.
Great fries, good wine, the rest was not recommendable...
It has great food and great service. The wine list is out of this world and it suits a French restaurant. I highly recommend the tasting menu if you're going there for the first time.
Our group gathering was to celebrate a friends birthday, and to continue a French theme that she has made a part of her life for now. Your restaurant was perfect in all aspects!!
We were really excited to try this restaurant for a special occasion and were very underwhelmed with the service and value. The service was poor and the quality of the dishes did not match up with the price point.
For Kensington, parking was easy. Service was excellent. Promptly seated, promptly asked for drink orders, handed menus. Hadn't been there for about six months, but our server remembered my wife and me and was very friendly. The main thing, of course, is the food. Maybe just a slight bit too salty. I had the Coquille St. Jacques with English peas and fingerling potatoes. Scallops done perfectly and those were the best peas I've ever eaten. My wife loved her chicken dish. Tried it; moist and delicious.
Most Romantic Restaurant in San Diegetic!
This place has been a favorite for years. Incredible consistency. Keep up the amazing work! Basil martini; great wine selection; steak frites to die for. Early bird special is a crazy good deal.
Have been and always been a loyal customer
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and have done so numerous time.
I have been waiting to visit this restaurant for a long time. The service was great. The food was amazing.
We were in from out of town for a graduation. We found this wonderful restaurant on open table. Food was delicious. I loved the French onion soup. I highly recommend this treasure.
Our server Sarah was fantastic. The food was amazing. If there was a higher rating to give, I would. Thank you!
We are in San Diego for a holiday and a decade birthday celebration. We chose Blue Boheme because of good reviews and it was a wise choice for us. Our opinion is it must be a neighborhood restaurant and there were diners there with dogs and lots of people walking dogs passed by. I would say nothing special about the decor, what for? The food said it all. Our service was excellent, friendly, personable and refreshing and made us feel like we were locals. The food: excellent! Four of us shared a charcuterie board which was as as good or better than the server’s suggestion. I especially loved the pork pate. One diner thought the Foie Gras was excellent. Another raved about the Strip Steak Frites. The salmon was outstanding. Blue Boheme is excellent for a date, low keyed, great wine selections, quiet and understated. If we had more time in San Diego, we would be back in a heartbeat.
We visited this restaurant twice in one week. Consistently well prepared food & excellent service- attentive but not obtrusive. Every dish we ordered was well seasoned and delicious. Save room for dessert! The Gateau au chocolat & profiteroles were divine!
Went with my daughter for our birthdays. My duck was delicious, but her salmon was under cooked (basically raw). Tried sending in back twice, the restaurant DID remove it from our bill without us asking. Even though it was a Wednesday evening it was extremely busy.
One of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. The food, service and ambience were beyond excellent, and we enjoyed it so much that we are planning on returning in just a few weeks.
I live in the neighborhood and frequent Bleu Boheme, it's always excellent - the service, food and wine are always great.
Ce magnifique! This place is really a special gem in San Diego. 1) Great neighborhood restaurant away from the crowds, traffic and tourist. 2) Great ambiance with candle-lit tables, homey decor and french music. 3) Food was great from first to last bite. Highly recommend the Fois Gras, Boeuf Bourguignon, Moules aux Champignons and Confirt de Canard. BTW, they make a mean Martini as well. Will definitely be in my rotation. Highly recommended.
We chose the price fix menu of three courses served until 6 p.m. that is a good bargain. The bibb lettuce and beet salad was delicious and beautifully presented. The pates were scrumptious. For the entrees we had the duck confit and beef bourguignon that were delicious as were the gingerbread and ice cream desserts. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food and wines, especially the Rhones. Bleu Bohemme serves authentic French food. Always a treat to come here to dine.
This was our first time here and we really enjoyed, the ambiance and the bone marrow escargot was fantastic!
this is the real deal, quality food, service, ambiance. Really a great value and delightful experience.
We had a delightful evening at Bleu Boheme. An exquisite martini, fresh salad and delicious scallops. Finished with chocolate mousse. Excellent service and the ambience is very inviting. Highly recommend and will return!
Wow, this place has changed. I had the Boef Bourguignon and French onion soup. The beef was very tender but was a very fatty cut. The carrots were under cooked and the sauce was too sweet. The French Onion soup was all cheese and bread - where are the onions? I have eaten here since Pierre opened the restaurant and have been away for a couple years. I have had this dish many a time and perhaps this was an off night, but no. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The wine was excellent. For the price there are better options.
Food was excellent. Service was not great. Waitress got initial order wrong, and then forgot a desert order later. They did comp the desert, when they brought it like 20 minutes later. We usually have good service here.
Been 5X, went on Mothers day and quality of the food just wasn't the same. Bummer
Had s great lunch for Mother’s Day but didn’t realize it was fixed price till we were sitting down ordering drinks. It was fine but wished I had asked sooner. Didn’t note it on open table when made reservations
Four stars for food, five for everything else. Lobster bisque was OK. Tarte chaud was great. Beef Bourgonone (sp) also great. Salmon was delicious. All the deserts were good. Pleasant place to dine overall.
The restaurant is lovely and the food delicious. Highly recommend the quiche for brunch. I know it’s a French dining experience served in multiple courses, but the brunch took 2 hours. As adults, that’s no problem; however, small children don’t do as well with a long dining experience. Something to consider.
Great food and great service! Scallops, Foi gras, Boeuf Bourguignonne, cocktails and deserts were all delish!
