Fantastic French food in a beautiful candle lit setting! We can’t believe it’s taken us so long to find this place. We will definitely be back soon. It was our wedding anniversary and they gave us a card signed by the Bleu Boheme team which was a lovely touch. The food was fantastic - save space for the flourless chocolate cake which was amazing! If you want to go to France go here!
We were stuck on the freeway in the rain for more than 2 hours, and arrived just as Happy Hour ended. We had come specifically for the Duck Frites. We pleaded our case to the chef, who graciously extended the Happy Hour menu and Duck Frites we had! Most grateful.
Great as usual. The pork ribeye was phenomenal; the crab croquet might be the best thing I've had in a long long time.
Our first time here and we had a lovely dinner with friends. Our server was wonderful and very knowledgeable about wines and helped us pick out perfect selections to accompany our dinner. We ordered the baby calamari, smoked salmon and onion and bacon tart appetizers which were all delicious! Then we all ordered a variety of entrees which included the salmon, scallops and beef which were also incredibly tasty ! We cannot wait to go back as I’m sure this will be one of our favorite new spots for date night.
Food is excellent, great wine selection and drinks. Parking is a problem, street parking in busy area.
The only issue with the food was the Steak with frittes...super tough steak...even when sliced thin.
Had a great meal before heading downtown for a showing of Wicked. Food was fantastic and the reservation online made it really easy.
My husband & I ate at Bleu Boheme for Thanksgiving. Too noisy! We could barely have a conversation. From now on, we won't go there for a public holiday event - only birthday or anniversary!
We frequent Bleu Boheme on a reg, ular basis. This was our first experience for Thanksgiving dinner and probably won't dine at Bleu Boheme for another holiday celebration. Overall, the quality vs. price was mediocre. The beet salad was great and the dessert was good but the turkey entree left much to be desired - it was bland and not what we've come to expect and experience at Bleu Boheme. Highly recommend this restaurant for regular dining but not so much for holiday dining.
Very overpriced. We went for Thanksgiving and we paid $145 for two people and I only ate a salad, turkey plate and fruit. I’m gluten intolerant and they didn’t have many options that were as filling. I went out super hungry after paying $70 for my meal. The quantities were scarce. Good food, but not worth it.
We have ALWAYS enjoyed Bleu Boheme. We have been there on date nights, for celebrations, for brunch. It has never disappointed. On this particular day - the first time we've ever done Thanksgiving out - we found the service quite lacking. The food was great, but we had to flag people down for everything from water to bread to our check. It almost seemed that our waiter may have been new or just inexperienced, but even as the manager (or whoever it was that was refilling waters) seemed scattered. Interesting because it wasn't as busy as it has been before when we have been there.
All things being equal, we WILL go back and we would definitely recommend it, based on past experiences, not this one in particular.
The Thanksgiving menu was fabulous! A little pricey for us but we splurged for the holiday. Well worth it! We want to go back soon to try their regular menu.
This is such a romantic, cozy restaurant! If you love candle-lit tables, this is the place for you!
It was wonderful
If you are looking for a romantic little French restaurant, then this is the place to go. All dishes were well executed.
Birthday, amazing food loved the romantic candle light. Would definitely return again
The food was average. I expected more I guess. A friend talked it up and it was just ok. Super loud and the service was incredibly slow
Definitely one of my new favorite places here in San Diego 😊
I really like this restaurant and enjoy going there. Service is always good. However, one of their featured dinner items--steak frites--tastes good but is made from very tough, grizzled meat. I wanted to eat it but it was almost impossible. They should not have it on their menu if they haven't tried it themselves. It is not inexpensive but the meat is obviously a very cheap version of this dish. I won't order it again.
This restaurant was noise and the food was good but not great. I like to explore Michelin starred restaurants and have been to many. I am not sure this one deserves a star.
Grazie mille Chef
What an incredible find! Fabulous cocktails, amazing Steak Tartare, and the Boeuf Bourguignon would melt in your mouth. The quality of the food definitely reminded me of my trips to Paris. I highly recommend this restaurant. I definitely plan to go again.
Good food, great decor and ambiance, kind wait staff. All around good place
Another amazing experience. Love this place. Thank you
I've been hearing so many great things about Chef Ken Irvine's Blue Boheme that I had to drive over to Kensington and see what the hype was all about.
I started with a Basil Martini made with Pinnacle Vodka from France, of course, fresh muddled basil and a hint of citrus. With that I had an outstanding escargots appetizer. The happy hour menu had Escargots with herb garlic butter, Pernod and tomatoes, the dinner menu had Cassoulet d'Escargot snails, mushroom, fennel, leeks and shallots with provençal butter. Mine was evidently the offspring of their coupling, I for sure had fennel, leeks and shallots, lots of butter and with a hint of cayenne and paprika, wow, some heat. With the Sadie Rose sour dough wheat bread it was so sopable I wish I'd had a dozen escargots but I'm glad I moved on so that I could sample some other menu items.
Next was the Croquettes du Crabe with remoulade and saffron aioli, two crab croquettes on maybe a jicama slaw with arugula and cherry tomatoes. I was thinking Sancerre with my great server, Angela had me try, from the Vins Blanc au Pichet menu, the Delais St. Esprit 2016 Côtes du Rhône Blanc and I was sold. I had to pass half of pichet to ladies at the bar since I was going to try another wine with the next nibbly.
Then it was the pièce de résistance, Chef Irvine's special for this evening, foie gras torchon with roasted black grapes, honey pear puree, rocket greens and fresh warm brioche. With that, again Angela's recommendation instead of my usual Sauterne, was the Lillet, a wine-based aperitif produced in Podensac, near Bordeaux. It's a sweet and fruity dessert type wine. A good pairing and Angela suggested I try it with champagne next time.
I can't say enough about the restaurant, ambiance, service, and OH THE FOOD! If I were truly crazy I could do this ever other week maybe or until I'd exhausted the menu
Marvelous food and service. We got the $30 price fix which had plenty of desirable choices. The muscles were perfection!
Excellent food, charming ambiance. You feel like you are in a French bistro!!
One of our favorite places
Blue Boheme is our favorite restaurant in San Diego. The food never disappoints. The atmosphere is amazing (all the candlelight). This is a can't-miss in San Diego.
My favorite French restaurant in San Diego. Try it and you will not regret it.
Great food and service as always!
We went for the famous French onion soup which did look very appetizing, but tasted like under salted dish water.
Great server and steak/frittes were perfect. Appetizers and bread were really good.
Went here for the first time with my wife a couple nights ago as we’re both newcomers to SD. Had an amazing meal here - great ambiance, great service, and most importantly great food! Highly recommend for anyone to try this place.
We travel 30+ miles to eat at Bleu Boheme from time to time. The attraction is primarily great food, but it's also a pleasantly intimate atmosphere. Great service, pleasantly delivered. It's a good place for a date or for special occasions.
Consistently good food and a great value - especially on Tuesday nights with the 3 course menu for only $32 all night. Bleu is one of our favorites!
I've been to Blue Boheme a few times, and it seems to get better with each visit. Really fantastic food (really) and service that's sure to impress any guest.
Delicious tart to start followed by the pork rib perfectly prepared! The crab coquettes were excellent - a lovely dinner
Great ambiance, service and noise level
I would recommend
