The perfect restaurant !!!
It was a sad celebration, they were closing after several years, you tucking geniouses!
Sadly it is closing on Saturday. It is a loss to Duane Street, Tribeca and fans of Austrian comfort food.
Food was really good! The pretzels were freshly baked and the meal options were all delicious. We especially enjoyed the Salzburger Knockel! This desert is typically found only in Salburg, Austria and it was delicious!!
Love everything about blaue gans except for the music. They always play contemporary pop and it just really doesn’t work with the ambience/vibe.
Excellent food. Fun, funky ambiance. Excellent, warm, friendly service. Overall very enjoyable experience.
Schnitzel is the best!!!! Fave neighborhood restaurant
We keep coming back for authentic Austrian cuisine in a casual and cool setting.
I had a business meeting and I needed a very quiet place so we could talk. Blaue Gans was perfect. The place was nearly empty. The food was good and the waiter attentive. Perfect for what I needed. Would clearly go back.
The food was fine and well-plated, the space and ambiance is nice, and the restaurant tends to not get too crowded (at least at lunchtime). But the real star of the show was our waiter! He was incredibly nice and helpful, and deserves 10 stars for being so hospitable to our group!
My wife & I spent the afternoon watching a World Cup soccer game at Blaue Gans and had a superb time. We were seated in an ideal and comfortable location by a gracious waiter and enjoyed excellent German beer and a tasty meal. The wait-staff worked hard and were friendly and efficient. Goal!
WE WILL MISS YOU. R.I.P.
I love this place. Coming from an Austrian family, it’s nice to know there is a fun go to place for Austrian food. Too bad “The Danube” closed several years ago for higher end Austrian food. It’s a market that needs to be tapped.
Might as well close this place is so faded and not what it once was. Food quality is a poor shadow of what it once was, room and furnishings are ratty and beaten up, menu hasn’t changed in yeArs and Kitchen executed badly.
Excellent service and the foot was fantastic. Highly recommend the Pork Jagar Snitzel. Will definitely repeat! Great place if you’re looking for a spot to view the World Cup games.
The food rose and staff are top notch.
They are warm and friendly- great staff.
Great meal; the chef and staff understand food and know how to cook. Delightful evening. We had a marvelous time.
A little sister to Wallse, this is great for traditional Austrian food. Schnitzel, spaetzle, delicious pretzels - good palatschinken and strudel!
Excellent food and service.
Definetly a neighborhood treasure. Not too crowded, not too laud. Excellent alternative to home dining when one does feel like cooking.
Great food. Bratwurst Schnitzels pretzels and Riesling !
This is one of our favorite restaurants in the city. The food is always fantastic, can always get a nice table and it's never too loud.
Nice quiet spot for a quality lunch that is different. I'm so bored of Italian and French! Our server recommended the pretzel appetizer. That really was not all that special. The cabbage salad was tasty. The best part were our entrees- two different fish dishes- each with flavorful sauces and cooked to PERFECTION. Dessert was scrumptious.
I LOVED IT
Always a great spot for schnitzel! The sausages and pretzel appetizers were a great start to our meal. The staff is always attentive on every visit and they have a really nice selection of Austrian wines to go with the meal.
Delicious food. Amazing experience. Service was flawless
I like the food. The restaurant has seen better days- I like the decor very much- but the place is not well maintained. The restrooms were dirty and there was no hot water in the restroom I used. The waitress was ‘new’ and was not trained properly by the management. She didn’t know very much about the food or the beers. She forgot an item we ordered- but we didn’t bother with an additional request. She keep bumping into the back of my chair as she walked by- the restaurant was not crowded nor too cramped for this to happen.
Such a wonderful dinner! The food was fresh, delicious and authentic; what else from Kurt? ;)
Will defitnarlwy be coming back
Amazing food, Phenomenal service, and big beers... what more could you want?!?
Simple menu, authentic flavor, classic Austrian fare.
Love going to Blaue Gans but continue to be perplexed by the music choices on weekends. Would love to hear something a little chiller or more authentic to the place over current pop/dance.
We went there for Valentine's Day.
It was quiet, beautifully decorated for valentine's Day, food was great, service was great.
Not crowded, just enough people.
Definitely will go back and recommend this restaurant.
In a quick visit to New York, Blaue Gans was great way to spend an easy evening among friends, while dining on delicious and authentic Viennese comfort food. Service was friendly and attentive, the Austrian wines perfect! The table especially enjoyed the traditional schnitzels with cucumber/potato salad...and the delicate apple pastry for dessert. Fun, open & inviting interior.
The bratwurst was tasty. The chicken paprika schnitzel and lingonberry souffle were absolutely delicious. Try the Pear Basil Sipper! It's so refreshing!
The heat didn’t work and it ended up to be a very uncomfortable experience, made worse by the fact that it took a very long time for our dishes to arrive.
Really enjoyed our visit. Would suggest that music volume be lowered a little though.
I had the pork Wiener Schnitzel, cheese spätzle, and a draft Köstritzer.
Just the comfort food I was looking for. Service was friendly and attentive.
Price seemed a bit high, but I'm not a native of Manhattan.
Great place, nice lively atmosphere. Food is lovely, best burger I’ve had in a long time.
We loved it. From the host to the waitress to our first bite of the Viennese sausage and sour croute and trout crepes to our last bite of soufflé , we loved everything!
...been there many times before. Great simple traditional dishes.
