We ate at Blanchard's for the first time 13 years ago and were so pleased that we've been back multiple times and always send others there. However, this time seemed different. It took well over thirty minutes for us to place our order and 2 1/2 hours to complete our meal (with an 8 year old present). It seemed as if the same server never came to our table. Our table was on the lower patio but we stared at a fence instead of the ocean - we had to walk to the beach to see the sunset. The food was fantastic but the service and view left much to be desired compared with the many other seaside restaurants we dined at during the week.
One of favorite places to eat when in Anguilla. Local food that is fresh, delicious and prepared perfectly. I highly recommend, but make a reservation because they are very popular.
Super food as always. Server was great until she forgot to serve the dessert. But all in all a super meal in a charmed location. Have been coming back ever 5 years for 20 years.
Our go-to spot on Anguilla. We go there annually.
Food is reliably good to very good. Lobster and shrimp cakes one of my favorite dishes anywhere. I always look forward to sharing the cracked coconut desert. More ice cream than usual this year. All the better.
Overpriced and mediocre food. I was very dissapointed after all the good things I read and heard.
Awesome place on a beautiful island
Best restaurant in Anguilla. We discovered it 3 years ago and when we went back on vacation last week we couldn't resist going there twice. I can't say enough good things about Blanchards.
Keisha was our waitress there both nights and her sweet personality and attention to detail made for fantastic evenings! I think the best bargain around is their Prix fix menu . Lots of selections and incredible taste. Thank you Keisha!!
40th birthday! Treated me like a queen! Thanks for the memories!!
Great staff and food was delicious. Thank you!
On our first visit to Anguilla for vacation, it was great to find such a lovely dining spot, right on the beach, and within walking distance from our hotel. The food was delicious--especially the fresh and tasty pasta appetizer. It was also nice having a pre-fixe dining option, a great value for a 3-course meal at $49.
we have been here 3 times in the past few years. food quality has gone down each time. i'm sorry to say we wont be back on our next trip to Anguilla. I love their cookbook and enjoy making many of their dishes at home. Unfortunately you can't overcook fish and other meats and just cover them with a sauce and make it all better. Our "fresh fish" seemed like it was sitting under a hot light at McDonalds far too long. Their sides were good though. I have no doubt they can improve their quality to what tt was in the past. but for the price it needs to be much better. try Veya for a treat.
This was our third time at Blanchard's (having visited Anguilla about 8 times) and sadly the food did not meet the memories I had from prior visits. On the plus side, the service is still outstanding with no less than 5 different service staff checking in throughout the meal. The restaurant is on the beach and the sounds of the waves enhances the overall dining experience. The menu includes a good variety of options for appetizers and main courses - covering all bases including vegetarian and gluten free. Also an impressive number of seafood options. That being said, given the number of terrific restaurants on the island with creative and outstanding menus, we thought the food was good - not great. For appetizers we had the lobster/seafood/fish cakes which were over fried and greasy. For main courses we had the mahi mahi which was surprisingly dry, while slathered in a white sauce accompanied with a bland side of string beans - showing very little effort. The wine list is extensive and terrific, which was certainly a saving grace. We did love the Blanchard's beach shack which we visited during the day and will certainly be going back to again.
Food always good, service friendly. Wish dining started earlier than 6:30. And the bar really was open earlier too.
Had a marvelous meal at Blanchard's with very warm and amazingly attention service and smiles. Unlike any other spot on Anguilla. Won't forget this meal.
Blanchard's has gotten stale. The menu hasn't changed since ???? Sometime in the Regan era? What's worse is that the service seems very irregular. Everyone is extremely nice but what are they doing running around with iPads trying to take orders and getting them wrong??? I expect much better from a restaurant at this price point.
From the moment we booked the table everything was easy and delightful.
Despite booking late on Valentine's Day they were able to accommodate our table of three. We were met at the door with a smile and the easy ambiance never stopped despite how busy the restaurant became later in the evening. It seemed we never were without an attentive staff member to cater to our every needs.
The wine list was extensive and reasonable, found an America Chard to please my wife and a Merlot for the guys.
The food was extremely good, lamb shanks, Caribbean Sampler, Ahi tuna; salivating as I write this.
Finished the meal with exquisite aged rum in healthy pours into cognac glasses.
We can't wait to go back.
Not worth the hype
The food was fair and the prices high
We have been spending Thanksgiving dinner at Blanchard's for at least 15 years. In the early days, they had the MOST FABULOUS traditional turkey dinner. After the 2008 crash, they decided to forego that, and we continue to lament the loss. They have now opened the Beach Shack next door which has terrific food, much simpler presentation, but great. This year for the very first time it seemed to be 4, not 5 stars. I will definitely go back next year and hope that it will again be one of my favorite places in the world to eat.
After we were seated we waited a good 10min before our wait staff acknowledged us. No one even poured water for us. My husband had to go over to the hostess and ask that we be waited on. I understand it was very busy, however, first impressions go a long way. I would recommend that the wait staff acknowledge their table as soon as they see them and all they had to do was pour us some water, introduce themselves and let us know they would be back as soon as they could. Once they did come to the table, the gentleman who took our order just came over and said, "you ready". We thought, "oh no", this is not going to be good. However, after that, things went very well. The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly.
Of all the upscale outdoor dining in Anguilla, this turned out to be the least enjoyable. There was no breeze as it not right on the beach so it was uncomfortably warm at 8pm. Again, the other restaurants managed to be configured to have a breeze. Spent $200 for cocktails, glass of wine, appetizer and dinner for two, about $50 than the other places like Straw Hat or Mango's. The service and food was just ok and we left thinking we had just sort of an ok experience
Third time at Blanchards. Each time our meal was excellent. Had crusted mahi for main course. Coconut chocolate shell for desert. Both first class. Truly best food on Anguilla.
nice spot not up to all the rave reviews, food very good
chopped salad not worth the calories to chew, very bland dresing mentioned to server who seemed not very engaged.
got the feeling he didnt get my N.Y. humor, then told him point blankto tell the chef .
We go to Blanchard's every year we are in Anguilla. We stay on the East end and drive the whole distance to the West end because of it's consistent quality. We are never disappointed. At night it's like being at a garden party. Save room for the coconut ice cream in a chocolate shell.
The setting was lovely, food was ok. The main waiter was off hand and not welcoming at all. The only waiter like that we have met in Anguilla.
always excellent,year after year
My fave, for sure!
This is a long-standing gem! It doesn't miss a beat. Mel Blanchard even came out to greet each one of her tables. You can't miss this wonderful dining experience when you visit Anguilla.
Beautiful gem on the beach in Anguilla
Love Blanchards. We have never been dissapointed. We had a garden sitting and were dazzled by the service.
Way too expensive for what you get. Higher prices than NY, St. Barthes and the Viceroy. Great realistic, and we'll return
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Anguilla. The food is awesome and the staff is very friendly.
The prix fixe menu was a bargain for anywhere, but particularly in Anguilla. The beef tenderloin melted in my mouth. The coconut ice cream in the cracked coconut dessert was absolutely fabulous. I will return on future visits to the island.
We've been to Anguilla many times and always make sure to get to Blanchard . This year the food seemed better than ever! We rate Blanchards #1 on the island and would go more often if it wasn't so expensive. Although; There is no doubt that it is worth the money! The staff is wonderful as well and help to make for a wonderful dininging experience.
food even better than last couple of times
service somewhat surly but better than past; still service really has not kept up with competition.
Best Dinner on the island of Anguilla.
Truly a memorable meal.
This restaurant continues to amaze. One of the best on Anguilla.
great food; amazing ingredients, given difficulty of local sources. Owner makes you feel welcome
Only downside is service. Just like last year numerous, pleasant but uncoordinated servers. Asked 4 or 5 times, by different people, if we'd like some wine (ordered it at the first request) so next requests were just intrusions/reminders that wine hadn't arrived yet. Last year's visit included server pouring wine for us, then next server pouring our wine for adjoining table....
appreciate that Blanchard's is on open table since it's just about the easiest way to reserve a table.
One of the best meals we have ever had! The spicy shrimp with sweet potato mash, grilled bananas, and cranberry relish was to die for.
