Blakeslee Inn - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Another great dining experience at the Blakeslee Inn! We enjoy celebrating special occasions here. We love trying different appetizers each time. We love that the menu offers different special dishes seasonally. This time it was for my birthday. All the staff were pleasant and made my birthday special. The chef added a special candy birthday message to my creme brulee dessert. There was a short delay with receiving our entrees so we were given free extra cocktails fitting right in with our birthday celebration. Looking forward to going back soon!
Was there several times in the past, and had a great meal every time. This time was not a good experience. We had a group of 8. Bar service was slow, waitress was nice but slow, my meal was completely wrong, and cold, my soup had nuts in it that tasted old. Everyone else said their food was good, but not as good as it has been in the past.
Don't judge this book by its cover! What a hidden gem in NEPA.
What a wonderful experience to celebrate my wife's birthday, love the ambience.
The food was amazing with great little surprises along the way. A free opening bite of pulled pork pumpkin. Soup was divine with an army of gourmet salts and peppers to play with. A nice sorbet spoon to cleanse the pallet. Entrees cooked well with excellent attentive service.
Would come back again!
Friday night the wife and I had a wonderful dinner at the Inn celebrating the season. The pumpkin themed meal was wonderful. The pumpkin bisque was a tribute to the pumpkin, smooth pumpkin flavor with a hint of port.
The appetizer of scallops and pumpkin risotto was delectable. My wife loved it and so did I.
The braised pork shank tasted like apple cider and the polenta had a wonderful pumpkin flavor.
Couldn’t ask for a better dinner. Good food and great service, thanks Mike and Bruce. The very tall young bus person was very attentive and nice. By the way the muse bush was unreal, scallop ceviche taco was great.
It was a little strange that we were given two restaurants' menus at the same time. I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled Salmon from the Pub menu. I must say that the Salmon was phenomenal - the best I ever had. It was a complete surprise for me. My husband ordered a Cobi burger, medium rare, but it came well done. It was not bad, but he would have preferred it to be cooked as he ordered it.
We were very impressed with their dessert cart, even though we did not order a dessert.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner.
The wife and I enjoyed another brunch at Blakeslee Inn today. She had the buffet which was great as it normally is. Today the chef had a tomato casserole with the normal buffet items.
I had the seafood Benedict with the lobster, fantastic!! The Bloody Mary was great too.
Service was the usual top notch too.
The atmosphere was most pleasant, the food delicious. The service was friendly, timely, informative and helpful. The food menu was extensive as was the wine menu. The cocktails were perfect. The noise level was quiet. It was our first visit to the Blakeslee Inn but we do plan to return ... often, especially for special occasions and to take visitors. Enjoy!
Last night my wife and I had dinner at the Blakeslee Inn. I took her to our favorite place for her birthday and our 44th wedding anniversary. As always dinner at the Inn was wonderful. I had the fig appetizer what a treat. My spouse had the new scallop dish, wow they were tender juicy perfectly cooked scallops were grand just cooked to perfection, absolutely outstanding.
Next we had bison ribeye, tender and tasty, with fantastic sweet potatoes frites and grilled asparagus. Mike whole staff including Bruce, Jarred, (Ben too) were spot on with service. The spirits, wine and champagne (oops my honey had her usual beer) could not have been better; all pared perfectly. Thank You Blakeslee Inn for a spectacular celebration dinner!!
This is the second time we dined at the Blakeslee Inn. Both visits were marvelous. This second visit was over Labor Day weekend. We wondered if the service would be as impeccable as it was on our first visit, which was on a quieter evening. Yes! The service was perfect, once again. The food is not only top notch and delicious, it is also beautifully presented. It was a special evening.
Chef is talented, three different menu's hitting all price points. Very friendly staff and high quality ingredients. Do not be afraid to order the pricier entree's, they are excellent and we'll done. You will not find "tourist trap" food here. Great bar as well, excellent, handmade cocktails with home crafted mixers.
We were looking for a place to stay for the night that also had a restaurant attached so we could have dinner and drinks and not have to worry about driving. The hotel didn't look to be anything special so we didn't have high expectations for the restaurant. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. We had a couple drinks at the bar before dinner. We tried some of the specialty cocktails and they were just as good as what you would get at a fancy cocktail lounge in Manhattan. Also, the bartender Jacob was great and really knew his drinks! The food was also great and all the pastas were made in house. Definitely will go back next time we are in the Poconos!
Saturday night 8 pm reservation and dining room half full. Seemed understaffed. Many tables remarking about long waits. Melon salad and roasted pepper soup were good. Filet mignon served over dried out roasted potatoes and hot house tomatoes. Weird combo not well matched. Lobster ravioli a bit dry and chewy. Tarragon cream sauce ok. We did not have dessert because dinner took a long time. No reason given. Waiter was always rushing though so must have been some private parties at same time.
We almost did not done here. The hotel we stayed at did not recommend it but we took a chance & dined here anyway mostly because it was the closest to our hotel.
We had our teenage boys with us and they sat us in the pub area. Upon looking at the menu we were not impressed & lucky for us our server told us that we could get all of the menus available at our table. The selection on the other menus was very impressive.
Every dish we got was excellent! Beginner cocktails to dessert we were very impressed!!!!!
Do your self a favor try it!!!
The restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside but the inside is beautiful. You will walk in to a friendly environment with workers that are great people who want you to be happy with the excellent food. I highly recommend trying the ribeye. The ambiance of the entire place is very pleasant. I have no complaints with the place at all. The prices maybe high but for the service, the quality and quantity of food, and the great ambiance. There is not much more you could ask for from such a great place. The service was great there was great from Bruce the server provided a great experience his busser Khalid was well trained by the head bussers.
Brunch Not really a brunch rather a breakfast buffet at a cost of 13.95 plus 2.00 for coffee , plus tax and tip. No wonder there were only 2 other tables with customers .
Dinner Way over priced . Generally no starch .
My wife and I started going to the Blakeslee Inn over 10 years ago In 2009.we had our 50th wedding party there ,50 people. GREAT dinner . We introduced many friends to this restaurant Shortly after our party the chef Jim ,left . Since then the prices have gone up and the quality and quantity WAY DOWN .
We really enjoy having local fine dining in this area, however, I made reservations on our anniversary July 17 and upon arriving was told that the classic menu would not be served as there was a special event with only menu one option. Not what we wanted to hear on our special occasion. We left and went to another establishment. Can't believe only one option replacing the entire menu. Losing local patrons to cater to a small group isn't a good business model.
This is an unexpected treat for dining in the Poconos. Food and service were very good at reasonable prices. However, this establishment did not receive my Open Table reservation via the internet. We were lucky that there was room for us to dine when we arrived. If you want to eat here I would recommend calling the restaurant to confirm your reservation.. Open Table, can you fix this?
From the outside, I didn't expect much but the food was outstanding. Our foursome ate off the Pasta menu which features homemade pasta in all the dishes. The seafood Fra Diavolo was perfectly spicy and the short rib ravioli was terrific. Don't judge this book by its cover. The restaurant is fantastic.
