Blades' Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We were cold during our entire meal and had to put our coats back on after being there for 10 minutes. As the front door continued to open/close, we were greeted by the strong and cold air. Ordered the blackened yellow-fin tuna only to find it knee deep in a peppercorn sauce. I was never able to taste the fish in the sauce which I couldn't finish due to the overwhelming taste. The sauce also covered my veggies and mashed sweet potatoes. Oddly enough this was the very same sauce that covered my husband's steak entree, veggies and mashed sweet potatoes. The brie appetizer and french onion soup were very good. I've heard so many good things about this restaurant, but we weren't the least bit encouraged. I often feel that heavy sauces are meant to cover inferior cuts of protein.
There was not a lot of attention to detail. The carpaccio was not thawed prior to its arrival at the table. The vegetables looked and tasted tired, like they had been sitting around for a while. Fish was average at best, overcooked but fresh. Cocktails were great.
This restaurant was a great little find. It's a little bit of a drive, but worth it. Our stuffed zucchini was creative and tasty. All of our dishes and desserts left us commenting about one nice thing or another. The kitchen is open, so in a way you can have a show with dinner!
Absolutely wonderful totally enjoyed our experience excellent service where they paid attention to our needs and the food was absolutely amazing the seafood was fantastic the lobster wasn't over cooked the scallops were perfect it was absolutely fantastic dining experience
We have eaten at Blades several times since moving to Placitas. The food is always excellent, freshly prepared, interesting and a good value. The service has always been attentive. We go early to avoid a full dining room. When the room is full it can get a bit noisy. Highly recommended.
Blades Bistro is great. We went there on Saturday August 19 with friends. We sat outside in the beautiful NM evening, enjoying AMAZING FOOD AND WINE while listening to a GREAT jazz trio. As we sat drinking our coffee, the sun set in the west and filled the sky with unbelievable reds and oranges and purples. What a PERFCT ending to a WOMDERFUL MEAL.
We had filet mignon, veal chop, sea bass and Con Frutti de Mare . They were EXCELLENT. Everyone loved their meal and shared tastes. Fantastic!!!
We have dined inside previously as well. Same WONDERFUL food and service. But it gets a bit noisy. Outside , in nice weather is AWESOME!!
In all the times I've gone this was the first time we were really disappointed! The "Horseradish ENCRUSTED Steak" was steak with a horseradish sauce poured over it. It was overpowering the meat! My friends fish Francaise was chunks of fish instead of fillet of fish. My husband's Wedge Salad had black olives, which he detests, instead of bacon! My Con Frutti de Mare was too rich. I asked for "light" cream which I think they did, but the parmesan put it over the edge. Waitress seemed rushed. She literally tossed the dessert menus in front of us....I hope they read this. I will still be returning, but not so soon.
This restaurant is amazing. The food is always spectacular. We had the horseradish crusted New York strip and the fish special. Both outstanding. The cheesecake for dessert stole the show. Everything is prepared on site and you can tell.
Sean, our waiter, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items.
Don't wait, go to Blade's Bistro
Kevin & Enya (Owners/Chef) have created a gem away from traffic and convention. Their hospitality is memorable. The food, cocktail list and wine list offer something for all tastes and great quality. A venue for most all adult occasions. We have been going since shortly after they opened in 2009 and always look forward to our next visit! D & D
Extremely loud bar scene filled with regulars. Too loud to carry on a conversation. Blades is a small place with maybe 15 or 20 tables and the bar is right in the room with very little or no noise abatement. The food was very good, the wait staff was attentive, but couldn't hear myself think. Had never heard of this place before we went there. Just heard about it by accident and couldn't wait to try it out. Went there for an anniversary dinner.
As usual, the food was superb. Unfortunately, the service was even worse than usual! We decided to eat inside even though there was music on the patio, which left us largely ignored. The waiter was apologetic--when he finally arrived-- but that was about it. Slow and lackadaisical ruled the day. Too bad!!
By far, the best in the area. We visit this restaurant many times each month and it never disappoints. In fact, this last experience featured a black sea bass with a saffron sauce that was the best meal I've had in a long time! The servers at this restaurant don't change - they are warm, lovely people who provide stellar service every time. I look forward to seeing them as much as enjoying the food.
