Blackwall Hitch Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I tried this place for our date night and it didn't disappoint. From the moment we entered through their doors we were made to feel welcome. Our server was excellent and his recommendations were spot on. We look forward to dining there again soon. Must tries: the scallop risotto, their Maryland crab soup, the Maryland crab cakes, and the crab dip.....Delicious!
The food at Blackwall Hitch is consistently good and the wait staff is consistently friendly, attentive and courteous. I would have given a five star rating, but my interaction with the host(s) is not always so pleasant. Often I feel as though my patronage is not welcomed. Once I get beyond the hostess stand, the rest of the dining experience is quite lovely.
Went here to celebrate our 39th Anniversary. Normally stay closer to home to dine but thought we’d do something ‘special’ for our Anniversary. They don’t really cater to special occasions we found out. The food is good, wait staff courteous but would go somewhere else if you’re looking for your occasion to be celebrated.
We were seated quickly, but it took the waitress a little while to greet us since no one had informed her we were in her section. After that was settled, we ordered some appetizers (calamari and fries) and drinks. The Bold Fashioned was a decent drink. The entree portions were massive and we were happy to bring some home since they were very good. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
We made an Open Table reservation today to bring friends to Blackwall Hitch for lunch. It was quieter at lunch, and we were seated in a nice booth in the back room. I enjoyed the Chicken & Brie sandwich, and my husband had the Cali burger. Both came out with their rosemary fries, and both sandwiches were excellent. Our friends enjoyed the Chesapeake flatbread, which looked delicious. The manager stopped by our table to be sure all was well. It was a very nice, relaxing setting for a lovely lunch.
We were very pleased with Blackwall Hitch. The ambiance was charming and the food and service made for a spectacular lunch with my family. The appetizers were outstanding (crab dip and fried green tomatoes) and our meals were cooked to perfection. We'll be back.
To the rescue: Another restaurant lost our bridal party brunch reservations for a party of 25! Yikes right? Well a quick phone call and poof in 20 minutes we were seated and enjoying our family and good food. Seamless service with two dedicated waiters who were spot in and timely.
Menu was extensive and we had the risotto scallops ~ delicious! We will be coming back not only for the good food, but the accommodating staff who made a wedding snag turn into a beautiful memory. Thanks to all who made this possible.
Late evening Christmas Eve dinner. Service was great. Appetizers were late coming out. Waiter and manager apologized profusely even though we were not stressed about it at all. And the manager took it off our check. That was very nice of him. Loved the French fry flight and the Apple cider mule I had. Also had the southwest salad which was very tasty. My only minor complaint about the salad is that it was swimming in dressing.
I do enjoy Blackwall Hitch and I’m sure I’ll be back
We took our niece & nephews to Blackwall Hitch for a holiday dinner treat. Perhaps it was due to the holiday crowd but the restaurant didn't make any accommodation for personal food preferences. Specifically, they would not serve the tartar sauce without the peppers. 3 out of 6 would say that the food is overly spiced. Indigestion reigned supreme! If you like it spicy, go to Blackwall Hitch.
Did not acknowledge the birthday that I mentioned. Nice looking restaurant. Was pretty empty on a Tuesday evening holiday season time. May be people busy shopping for Christmas or the pace is known for not such good kitchen. Salmon had to be redone , desert brownie with ice cream, got a very dry dark cake ( not chocolate) with a small ice cream scoop . No return visit from us for sure
The restaurant was recommended by our waiter at the Hitch at Dulles Expo Center, and since we get together with friends for lunch in Annapolis we tried it. The food was wonderful, everyone enjoyed their orders. The hot chocolate bar comes to your table to make a fabulous hot chocolate.
I took my wife there for her birthday party and she had lots of fun. The restaurant was crowded and lively. A live band was there playing a few minutes after we arrived. The food was great. However, I had made note in my reservation of the occasion and there were no acknowledgement as such. I would visit again but not for any special occasion as it was lost on the restaurant management to pay attention to that kind of detail. At least a happy birthday from the manager or waiter would be appropriate and appreciated. Do not expect the restaurant to assist in your celebration. For that, you will be on your own.
My wife and I had dinner after a long day traveling. It lifted our spirits. The food and service were both exceptional. My wife enjoyed the Day Boat Scallops and I had the branzino. It was the best I've had. Paired with a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, at half price on Monday, we were very pleased.
What Blackwall may lack a bit in food quality it more than makes up for in service. I have been there twice; both times, something I ate was a little sub-par. (The rest of what I ate was quite good!) But the staff is tremendously accommodating, compensating us generously when there was a mishap with a broken plate on the first visit and gifting us not one, but two special compliments for my friend's birthday on the second.
After being seated, there was no service at our table - it was crickets for almost 15 mins; and other patrons were getting taken care of. One of our guests quipped at a nearby busser, and Bryan appeared.
He graciously apologized, and said he’d stand in until they determined who would handle our party. Bryan ended up waiting on us for the evening, and turned a rough start into a terrific dining experience. He was quick with the details, offered suggestions and pairings, and had a witty sense of humor. He reminded us of the professional waiters you often experience in New Orleans.
The food is well prepared, delicious flavors and the menu offers a wide variety of options. It did not disappoint anyone.
We did not make it into the bar area, but it is spacious and looked vibrant. We plan to return soon, and have added it to our short list of Annapolis area eateries.
