Blackwall Hitch - Annapolis
Book your next event with us
It took the main meal about 45 min to come out after we received the appetizer. We ask for kids chicken quesadilla and only received cheese quesadilla with no sour cream. The server Chris was nice and attentive.
Great Food. Great service and environment.
Good service from Christopher
Our server was amazing!!!
Seems as if the quality and the food selections have been down graded. Musicians should remain until the end of brunch for those to enjoy with late reservations. They packed up and was out at 2 pm. What’s another hour to the establishment for those with afternoon reservations. The wait staff worked really hard to clear tables, take drink orders and were very attentive. I’ll give it another visit in hopes that they just had a bad day with the food quality.
Really enjoyed our server (Roberto) and our seating in the private room. Seafood selection was fresh and delicious - but everything else was lacking. Never enough chicken and waffles...undercooked beef (RAW)...and ham was dried out.
Our sever Johnny was excellent, very attentive especially considering it is a buffet. The new recipe for the chicken and waffles was awesome!
Great place! We enjoyed our family dinner this weekend. Service was excellent and the food was delicious.
Nice location, plenty of parking, and the food and service were very good. I got the Rockfish layered with crabmeat , and it was quite good. My only complaint was the staff who kept clearing plates before everyone was done. I find this rude to the people still eating.
Everything was going great up until my husband found a hair in his crab cake entree. He informed the waitress and was expecting a new dish (he had only finished 3/4 of his two crab cakes), but shockingly she brought back one crab cake on top of a piece of lettuce on a saucer plate. Also, to make matters worse, she raked part of his leftovers in a to go box to show him what he had left on his original plate that she took back to the kitchen...It was minus a whole crab cake that he never touched, which makes me wonder if the one she brought back out as a new one was the original being recycled. My husband spoke with the manager, and he did at least take my husband’s meal off our bill and one of our appetizers. It was just a very unfortunate experience, because I was excited about bringing my parents there and it was a let down. I’ve been to both the Alexandria and Annapolis locations prior and enjoyed my past experiences. After this one, I’m not sure I’ll ever return now. ☹️
Great service and they provided me with one is their private spaces to celebrate my birthday.
We made a reservation for 8 for my wife's birthday, which coincided with New Year's Brunch. We were advised when we showed up for the reservation that our table was not ready. Nearly 40 minutes of waiting for a table we decided to sit in the bar area. We have come to Blackwall Hitch for New Year's Brunch and been quite satisfied with the spread of options for a brunch buffet, but this year was pared down significantly, no omelet station, no carved meat station, no waffle station. It was not what I was expecting and no real communication about the time that we needed to wait for a table. I do enjoy Blackwall Hitch, but I will not come back for New Year's Day Brunch.
Our group of six had New Years brunch and we were celebrating a 36th wedding anniversary. The Buffet was picked over, I checked salad options three times over an hour there was never more than a handful of listless brown lettuce, seafood area had shrimp when we arrived, quickly disappeared and not refilled. Same issue with breakfast potatoes etc. we were provided a menu for Sunday brunch which included unlimited mimosas then presented a bill for $112 for the drinks at the end making me somewhat grateful we rarely saw our waitress. We were visiting the area and our friends had better experiences at this restaurant previously so this expensive and disappointing experience may be an outlier given it was a holiday.
This was a new years brunch. I have been here before and it was excellent. My two guests eat very little. We were NOT offered the AL LA CARTE Menu. We were not offered the option. We were told the menu was offered "by request only." YIKES, so about $36 bucks a person and two folks had two small plates of food. Yes I did get plenty of food. . The oysters were very poor quality, some had a bad flavor. The choices were limited to what was previously offered on my previous experiences.. Even some of the buffet trays were empty each time I walked up. The crab soup was watered down... and crab was hard to see. At more than 1/2 the price of this we could have had a better selection and food (I may add w/ an omelette table) at Buddy's. Will not go here for this price. For this price Yellow Fin is hands down far better at 36 bucks a person. Plus they add an 18% gratuity automatically. I will not be returning here for brunch.
We went for New Years and opted for a la crate menu option. Food was really good! Enjoyed the cinnamon roll better than the smith island cake. Oysters were delicious - calamari was out of this world! Music had house sound plus love band so ambiance was a little off. Also being New Years, I felt like we were a bit over dressed compared to everyone else. Overall great experience!
We ate here on New Years Eve. The quality of the food did not come close to the price per head leaving me unlikely to ever recommend the establishment to anyone. What bothered us all more than anything, however, was that we felt rushed throughout the meal despite having reserved during their final seating. The pace of service simply was not good and we even asked our waitress at one point if they were about to close early or something, to which she answered no. We just didn't understand why we were continuously being rushed to progress to the next course. They had a live band which was very good but VERY loud. That's more of a personal choice, I know, but it was hard to carry on a conversation at our table because of the excessive volume. My wife ordered the beef filet medium rare and it was served closer to raw, and was not a good cut of beef. One other person in our party ordered the same dish but his fillet was served as ordered and was delicious. Deserts were very good. Overall, a VERY expensive and disappointing experience.
This restaurant is decorated in a very cool vibe. Nice to have drinks in the bar area by the cozy fireplace. Hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Bartenders were not attentive and frankly were rude. The appetizers were expensive and very small portions. We had planned to stay for dinner but left due the service. It is rare I write a review but felt the need given our disappointing experience.
The chef's at the omelette station weren't very friendly or hospitable. Our waitress was good but didn't check in very often
Great service :)
Love the food and ambience. The rockfish is scrumptious!
The food was very good, but it was a super busy Friday night and the service was quite lacking, but the manager tried to address the problem and it improved somewhat as the evening went along. Noise level was pretty high, so if you're averse to that you might want to try visiting on a week night or try another restaurant. Also, even though they have their own parking lot, there was no where to park by the time we arrived at 7:30 p.m. so be prepared to find on-street parking if needed.
Crab dip was all cheese and took while get 2nd beer but Rockfish was fab and so were crab cakes.
This was our fourth visit to Blackwall Hitch. As soon as we walked in the door we were kindly greeted by the hostess. We were seated right away which was very nice. Our server Randall was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The food and wine were excellent. We will definitely be going back. Thanks again.
One of our favorite Annapolis spots. Service is always professional and friendly, the food is reliably excellent.
Delicious, from the appetizer to the dessert. The dessert portions are small for the price but very good!
Food was great and our server was exceptional!
Blackwall Hitch is always a great place and we once again enjoyed it. I hadn’t been to brunch in some months but it’s changed a bit and not for the better. It seems the food selection is less but what was available was good. The most disappointing feature is no more bottomless mimosas. I can’t say it was worth the price but nonetheless it’s not a place we visit often for brunch. The omelette station is my favorite. I would recommend more of a selection for those of us who don’t eat meat. The atmosphere beautiful, the hostess and staff very sweet. Not counting it out at all, I visit on Fridays for the music and drinks. So much fun.
I love Blackwall Hitch because the employees/Managers are so friendly. It was very noisy the night we were there, it was hard having a conversation. There were 4 of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the shrimp and scallops risotto which was very tasty but I thought was overpriced for 2 shrimp and 2 scallops. I definitely will be back...
Overall excellent experience
One of the top Crab soups I've had
We will return
The food was overpriced, and the wild boar came out raw. At least the service was pretty good, and they tried to make up for it by taking the meal off the bill. But prices are still too high compared to other restaurants in the area, and the food does not support those prices. Might be worth going for happy hour.
I was disappointed. The rockfish was dry the duck was not cooked to order and the waiter was not attentive.
Loved this place! wonderful options and well priced for the type of brunch this is. Great ambiance, nice customer service. The ONLY thing i wish was included in the brunch and not paid additionally are the mimosas.
The food was very good but the service was mediocre at best...the bartenders were not very friendly and our server was not professional. She flubbed a few things but the worst was the wine service. The wine was ordered before food and arrived after we were almost finished eating and then she served it in the glasses we had brought from the bar with the remains of the wine in the bottom of the glasses. A different variety of wine. Eek. The prices are too high to not have better service here.
So impressed with the waitstaff - all levels - on a very busy Saturday night. Our waitress ( I think her name was Sarah) was just delightful, and I was impressed to see how attentive the managers were, keeping everything flowing despite the big crowd. Rockfish was outstanding.
This is the new girls night spot! We loved it and will return with husbands in tow.
This place was phenomenal. The service was excellent. The food was great. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. My wife and I have not been here in years but we will definitely come back regularly. You won’t be disappointed.
Randall was provided great service. The entree I originally ordered wasn’t prepared to my liking, but Randall took it back with no issue and allowed me to order something else on the menu. Nice ambiance, decor and overall experience.
Blackwall Hitch is a local favorite that has consistently had wonderful food and drinks in a welcoming atmosphere. Of course, in this area of the world, free parking is a huge draw - but even that perk wouldn't make up for substandard food. So, we come back again and again because the food is flavorful and beautifully served. A winter favorite, the braised short rib (dinner or sandwich) is a must. The shrimp and grits can easily compete with any found in the South. Our most recent two visits were only marred by inconsistent and spotty service, which was somewhat surprising since the restaurant was not busy. We had to ask for a dessert menu on one occasion. But most disturbing was the fact that the server referred to the woman in our party as both "darlin'" and "sweetie." That's just flat out disrespectful and unacceptable. In fairness, we did not bring this to the manager's attention but a word to all of the servers is in order. We will be back - we love coming to Blackwall Hitch - our compliments to the chef.
Awesome food and awesome service! My mom really enjoyed her birthday. I will definitely be back
It's hard to say who I put this on, open table or the restaurant, but I have one complaint. When making the reservations it asks for the occasion and any special requests. I put down "date night" and asked in the requests for a single rose to be on the table. Seemed like a reasonable and easy request that was not filled. Why offer special requests if you are not going to fulfill them?
