Great atmosphere delicious food family get together mimosas were a little light on the champagne nice jazz great waitstaff good time had by all will come back
Need to provide better dessert options. The buffet was great and the omelette station was outstanding.
Food does not live up to southern Cajun style cuisine. Prices are high for the value but options are great.
We had a reservation for 11 but couldn't be seated together so we opted to sit at a long table in the bar area. Most of the starters were FANTASTIC but I was very disappointed with mine (I ordered the sassy mussels for my meal). They were tender but they had very little flavor. It was very loud and the service was very slow. My previous visits were always positive.
It was so loud we really could not enjoy each other’s company. I would not eat there again because of it.
Already told a friend about it; it was wonderful; the food was delicious enjoyed my birthday
Our server, host and manager were all wonderful!! We had a great date night! Thank you all! ☺️
Slow service, unavailable food, and slightly chaotic. They need to up their game and increase seafood offerings.
Not accommodating at all. Had reservations asked to be seated outside was told that's a separate waiting list, so we cannot be seated outside. Website made no mention of this. They were serving brunch, we asked to order from the menu and was told we couldn't, once again no mention of this on their website. NOTE: The Manager told us their was nothing he could do. We walked out.
Great food, drink specials for brunch. Nice view of the Potomac while eating.
Blackwall Hitch is a smooth-sailing ship! I went on a very busy Saturday night, and the staff was also accommodating a wedding at the time. You couldn't even tell! Everything seemed effortless and like a normal night, though everyone kept warning us how busy it was. The atmosphere inside is really nice, and it's very spacious.
They weren't staffed appropriately. 2 parties in front of us said they lost their reservations. The food was not warm and beer was warm. The food was good, not cold potatoes. They realized it and were very apologetic and comp'd half our meal.
We couldn't find anywhere to park after driving around for 45 minutes. and no valet at the restaurant. very disappointing.
Wait staff was super nice, but the food order for half the table of six came out and the other was about 15 minutes later. All of it was cold and we sent a steak back (was supposed to be steak frites, but was a NY strip and it tasted like bad funky meat. The appetizers were good. Think this is a one and done for our group.
Bathrooms were dirty and filthy with over flowing dirty diapers. The hostess told me there was no changing table and there was- she was rude. There was a shift change and the servers where confused as to who was supposed to be serving our table. It was so noisy and I felt very uncomfortable. My food was served cold
And I ordered a warm sandwich and fries. It only has a good location going for it. We were going to host a party there and decided it was a hard pass.
Everything was great but the noise level was a bit high
Had a extremely bad experience with a gift card and the response from management was not expected. From the perspective of my spouse and I, it felt almost accusatory. We both took offense and will never go back to the restaurant again.
Food was EXCELLENT as was the service! Will definitely go back to enjoy again!
Service from entrance to settling the bill was friendly and attentive. Food was well presented and flavorful, though could have been warmer. The maple Manhattan is an AWESOME cocktail.
Overall a good experience; Steak was alright; Fish was alright; Great location.
The dinner entrees were delicious, especially the rockfish!
Decided to give this restaurant a try for a date night, after my friend suggested it after attending their brunch. She indicated that she didn’t particularly care for the brunch and thought the dinner will be a better dining option.
My boyfriend and I ordered the wings and crab dip to share as appetizers. The wings were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The crab dip on the other hand, wasn’t as appetizing as we’d hoped. It was a larger ratio of cheese then crab. Weren’t pleased and the waiter affirmed our thoughts, indicating that a lot of the patrons provided similar feedback. We tried to substitute for a calamari but it was sold out for the evening.
We ended the evening with the rockfish and pasta dishes and glasses of wine and the recommended DC lager. In all, we enjoyed our dinner, we just hoped that the outdoor area was lit so that we could still enjoy the river views at night and the calamari was available.
We went to dinner for a bitthday celebration. Our waitress Tina was excellent! She was attentive, refilled drinks before they were emptied, made dinner recommendations, timed out meal and appetizers perfectly. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. The food was excellent. Portions are a little large. The mahi tacos were awesome!
My best friend and I enjoyed our brunch. The food was amazing.
We had an 8:45pm reservation and were seated at, no joke, 10:00pm. When we checked in, the hostess said we’d be seated in 20 min. The manager was kind enough to comp a bottle of wine for the trouble, but only after we asked for him specifically to look at the bill. I’m forgiving for being a few minutes off, but 1 hr 15 min is just crazy. Why have reservations at all?
Once we were seated at the table, the food was very good here, and the live music was fun. Our server Griff was wonderful and overall we had a great evening. It’s a good thing our evening plans were flexible!
Don't go to Blackwall Hitch! While I understand that restaurants get busy, but this was a whole other level of bad customer service! The restaurant was seating people with that just showed up after we showed up on time for our reservation. A woman got so upset at the service, that she literally stood up brought the "manager" to her table, showed him the crap she got, and proceeded to leave, with her family. We ended up not getting even water brought to us for another 30 mins, and our food was awful, got to the table warm, and not seasoned at all. YUCK all the way! We even had to seat ourselves as they kept giving away tables to people who were clearly there way after us! It was horrible! Don't go to Blackwall Hitch!
Unfortunately the restaurant was running very behind on their reservations. All guests were upset, as the wait was over an hour for most. It was very frustrating when one patron threw a fit in front of the manager, and succeeded in cutting in front of the other frustrated guests after he spent a mere ten minutes waiting. The manager went from having one upset guest, to over twenty upset guests. On top of that, the manager was then rather rude to his hostess and other employees when they knew what he was doing was wrong. All the restaurant felt like offering after that was a free round of drinks. I feel bad for the employees that get treated poorly, because the restaurant has such potential if they could just coordinate their reservations appropriately. Our 8:15 reservation was not seated until after 9:20! I would recommend to plan accordingly.
My main complaint is that they were overbooked and we didn't get seated until 45 minutes after our reservation. The staff was friendly and I could tell that the hostess was extremely frazzled. But I don't blame her. As it was my birthday dinner, I was just disappointed in the long wait when I had made reservations. And no sort of free drink or appetizer was offered as a "sorry." My friend did get a free drink......because the drink they made her was not made as advertised on the menu. I did get a free dessert for my birthday, so that was one positive. The food was good and actually came quickly, but our drinks did not because the bar was backed up. Something we also experienced while waiting for our table. The bar seemed understaffed, as we stood there for at least 15 minutes waiting for someone to help us.
Poor. The overall experience was extremely disappointing. My S.O. and I were accompanying her niece and her boyfriend for the occasion. It was their first time at Blackwall Hitch and my second.
Let’s dispense first with the positives: once the food arrived, I think everyone agreed that it was very good. Oysters were delicious, the flaming crab dip was fine, and the entrees were likewise fine. Let’s call them 3 ½ to 4 out of 5.
Now the negatives: We arrived on time at 6:15 p.m., as stated in the reservation. The restaurant was not prepared to seat us. After about 35 minutes, and some confusion in discussions with the obviously stressed out greeting staff, a person that appeared to be a manager conducted us to a table. Once seated, I noticed that we had no silverware or napkins. Our server appeared and asked if we cared for drinks. We put in a drink order. Shortly thereafter, the drinks arrived, followed shortly by a bread basket and butter. We still lacked silverware and napkins. We placed our order for appetizers and entrees. About 15 minutes after the bread arrived, another person who appeared to have some supervisory function arrived with napkins and silverware. This was a first for me, and I’ve eaten at some diners that have had problems of this type. After we finished our entrees, we ordered desserts to share. Twenty minutes passed and the desserts hadn’t arrived. Finally, my S.O. flagged down what appeared to be a manager and requested that the desserts be cancelled and that we have our check delivered, and she then gave our server her credit card so that he could process the check. He then disappeared. After about five or more minutes, a cheesecake arrived in a to-go box, along with the bill for the meal . . . without my S.O.’s credit card and with no credit card receipt for her to sign. When she confronted one of the managers about that, he denied that they had her credit card and obfuscated. Obviously had a problem with strong women.
The General Manager (Jay) made this lunch date with my mother GREAT. He acknowledged and his staff needed help that day and he stepped in to lend a hefty hand. We will return.
I love Blackwall Hitch except they are always slow. We were seated quickly and given water in a timely manner, however, It took forever to get our entree. The potato straws, which were regular fries, were warm and we requested asked hot fries which we got after eating half of our sandwich. Our waiter was inattentive and did not provide quality service.
It was my birthday and I was excited about this spot. I had heard great things. Food was excellent and our waitress, Megan, was phenomenal. The young man working the omelette station was very personable and just overall outstanding. My concern were the hostesses. They were overwhelmed. The hostess went up to another party and gave my reservation to them. There were only two parties waiting and I was concerned that she could not remember names. The only reason I did not interrupt the hostess was because I did not feel like getting confrontational and there was a senior citizen with their party. When the hostess returned from seating the party, I said that was my reservation. She simply said oh and she would get us seated soon. Needless to say we waited another ten minutes. Once my mom and I sat down, we were unaware that we could only order brunch and a waitress had not greeted us. When my mom spoke to the manager, he informed us the hostess should have made us aware.
I will definitely try this spot again but please train your hostesses a little better.
I just went there for brunch this past weekend and made reservations at 2pm. The food was really good, but it took 30 minutes to seat a table of three and the place was not crowded. Then it took an additional 20 minutes to get our check. While we did not get to fully enjoy the brunch experience because it was rushed, the food was good.
First time here food was good Pam was great!
Made a reservation but still had to wait another 20 minutes to be seated. The hostess brought us to our table but it was not ready. We had to awkwardly wait in the room while the table was cleaned. Our glasses were dirty. I found a piece of hard plastic in my bacon. I did share this with the manager who shrugged it off as if that was normal and not a potential choking hazard had I not saw it. The reason given was that they wrap their pans with saran wrap when they cook the bacon and a piece must have fallen in. Saran wrap is thin and this was thick. I was given Mimosas that I didn't ask for at no charge which i guess was supposed to compensate for that but I did not ask for them and would have preferred to be offered some other type of accommodations for the experience.
I had reservations but it seemed to be very overbooked. I still had to wait for a table for 30 extra minutes. That was after I spoke with a manger. Great food. Awesome band and great service.
Food and Service was amazing.
Great food and atmosphere. I will definitely be back and I have recommended the restaurant to my friends.
Chicken and Brie sandwich.
Lovely view ! Awesome Vibes ! Very comfortable and romantic 💖
Great location, great ambiance but a bit noisy and our food was not hot when it arrived at the table. Will try the place again and hope for hot food.
