Waited over an hour for our food for a table of 3. When the food finally arrived, one of the orders was incorrect. They do not seem to have the service worked out.
We made a reservation at Blackstone Bistro for Mother's Day brunch in hopes of finding a new favorite spot. The reviews seemed positive and the menu looked delicious! Unfortunately, due to bad service and having waited over 30 minutes just to order and over an hour to find out that our order had not even been started we made the decision to go elsewhere. The atmosphere is charming and the staff started out polite, but as soon as we dared to ask for a drink other than water or asked for an update on when we could place our order their manners quickly diminished. We were told over and over that they were busy and that's why it was taking so long...there were a maximum of 10 other parties in the entire restaurant.
We wanted to have a pleasant Mother's Day outing and this really put a damper on that.
Third visit. Great food again. Service a little slow. May have been due to full house. Added to my favorite's list.
Food is always great, but service quality and attentiveness is still a work in progress with no sign of improving, which makes me question whether they will ever get that part figured out.
What an amazing place. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the staff is top of the line. The owners actually had a great conversation with us while we are our meal and made us feel right at home. We will go back to try their Sunday Brunch, but this will definitely be one of our new spots going forward. Great people, great food, great decor!
The food was phenomenal and I've never experienced better service. My husband and I were out with 2 other couples to celebrate his birthday! We had Little Italy and the Tomato Burrata for our appetizer, both delicious!! Cannot recommend the Spanish Paella enough, everyone in the party loved it (unfortunately I did not try it, vegetarian).
The staff took superb care of us, we even took a photo with the owners!
We cannot wait to go back!!
Totally enjoyed our dinner at Blackstone. We found the restaurant very comfortable and enjoyable. The food was very good with some great flavors. Our waitress was very engaging and knowledgeable about the menu. We would recommend this restaurant to others.
Great food and service. And I had the most exceptional Arnie Palmer I've ever had anywhere.
The food here is very limited The price for the location is too high. Just average. Much better choices in the area.
This is THE best kept secret in the Twin Cities. The food creative and fresh, but understandable and superb! Service as though you were at home, and personal care given to each table by the owners and chef. Outstanding!!! This restaurant deserves more from the community that it is serving. It is privately owned and operated and they have mastered food and service at EVERY level.
Excellent service, and amazing fresh food. The chef owner and his wife are always there to make sure that the food and the service is always perfect. What a great team. The wife is always running the restaurant elegantly and very professional, and on the other side the chef is running the kitchen. The food is unbelievable, best that I have ever had. Today I tried their Sunday Brunch, and had the chicken waffle, great presentation, and great flavor, one of the best if not the best. My wife had the crab Benedict with the homemade hollandaise sauce, and it was perfect. We are so happy that we have such a great restaurant in the neighborhood . We will be back. Thank you for the great experience
Was hesitant to go here because of bad reviews for slow service. Our experience was wonderful!
We had exceptional service from all of the wait staff. Even the hostess jumped in and helped out when things were busy. The food was exceptional. It was not a cheap meal however, still a little pricey. We would still highly recommend for special occasions.
I dined at Blackstone Bistro one time for dinner and was impressed with the quality, so I thought I would try lunch.
Had a business lunch, the ambiance is comfortable, elegant, upscale and all around perfect. The food was Five stars and the presentation is Amazing
We were seated promptly and the server was profesional and very knowledgeable, she gave us a quick description of the menu and the specials . The menu was rich with Great Appetizers, Salads, pizzas, Italian pastas, great selection Seafood and Steaks.
I started with Mushroom soups, which was full of flavors. I had the Barley & quinoa Salad with chicken and my guest had the Bento box as our main. It is definitely the best salad I have ever had, and my guest loved his food.
The Chef and owner as in my last visit came and said hello and checked on our food, we have never seen this before that the chef comes out of the kitchen, it felt amazing and welcoming.
The portions were very generous and prices are just right for lunch. Very highly recommended. They have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
LOVE THE FOOD AND WE WILL BE BACK
The crab cakes, lentil soup, salmon tacos and halibut were delicious! Also enjoyed a nice glass of wine and Kaliber, an upscale non-alcoholic beer. I love our neighborhood restaurant and its new menu!
Great food and great conversation with the hostess and her husband!
I went to the Bistro the other day for brunch. I ordered the Egyptian omelette and coffee. It was good but the service was very slow and I was the only one sitting in the restaurant . I like being served coffee right away in morning. I must have waited at least 10 minutes for coffee and even longer to be served a basket of bread. Other than the slow service, I like the ambiance and they have a good dinner menu.
Outstanding food & service. 5 stars all the way. Now on my favorite list.
Just celebrated a birthday with two others last weekend for breakfast. We had been at Blackstone for dinner once and loved it. The food has been consistently delicious and beautifully plated/presented. But, additionally, the service has been consistently extremely slow. I know this is a scratch kitchen, but still it shouldn't take 40 minutes to steam milk or make three egg dishes. That being said, we did enjoy. Just punch up the service a bit!
Great restaurant. Good food. Cool interior design. Fantastic service.
Great eggplant parm appetizer!
It's a beautiful restaurant - warm and inviting. Our waitress was very sweet but seemed like there were a lot of staff sitting around. That's our second weekend dinner and both occasions were very empty. Hope you fill the place as we would return.
We went to Blackstone Bistro for Easter brunch. We were greeted nicely by the server. Our meals came and one was eggs benedict. The eggs were VERY overdone. Yolks were hard and dry. Three of us had omelettes, which were very small and just ok. Were supposed to come with potatoes and bacon. We never got the bacon. Place was pretty empty at the time we were there, so there was really no excuse for the poor execution. Server took the eggs benedict off the bill, but no credit for the bacon. Would not recommend.
I love this place! Finally a restaurant that cooks food from scratch in the kitchen rather than pre-processed. Delicious. Beautiful. Excellent selection and attentive service.
I have been BlackstoneBistro number of times and the food and service is always consistent and outstanding
Appetizers rocked; flatbread was decent but disappointing by comparison. Very few beers in stock, and the list is being cut even further. Beer lovers, look elsewhere.
Not only was it a great ambiance but it was filled with incredible food! Staff went above and beyond and really showed they cared and valued their customers. Bringing out wine not even listed on the menu and also taking extra moments to chat about the food. The chef visited each table bringing the experience to a new level. This was a by-chance find, and we're happy to say we'll be back!
This was our first visit after hearing about it from a couple reliable sources. Blackstone did not disappoint. The food was freshly made and delicious, and the restaurant offered a nice ambiance as well. We recommend it if you're looking for something special yet not extravagant.
I was really surprised at how substandard this restaurant is. It has such a nice feel when you walk that it's surprising to have the food be so bad. Hard to ruin a steak....and also hard to have a bad greek salad. Then no decaffeinated coffee with desert? I will not return.
We had a great dinner, there were options for our kids. Service was the best!
Sat at the bar with the chefs so we could watch them cook. The fish was incredible, the service was great, and they have an unlisted wine inventory if you're looking for something special to match your meal.
We will definitely be back
We like this restaurant very much for lunches and dinners, but it's also a great choice for delicious appetizers and beverages. The atmosphere is particularly conducive to having a quiet conversation with your table mates.
I was not aware that there was a special menu for Valentine's Day so I went expecting many more selections. What was available was good, although the plates should have been warmed so the food did not get cold so quickly.
Service was very good.
Delicious food, everything was amazing! Everything tasted fresh and had perfect flavors. Service was excellent. The atmosphere was beautiful, cozy and romantic!
A nice addition to the Excelsior and Grand area. Beautiful decor. the food is good and the portions are huge! The bartender pours a nice drink! The service was excellent and everyone has a smile. I will be back.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. Impressed every time!
I really enjoyed Blackstone. Everything about our lunch was great. It was not a busy day at the restaurant which was wonderful because the noice level was low and we felt we could have a very leisurely lunch. The food was perfect and the service was friendly but not intrusive. I enjoyed it so much I came back the next day with a couple more friends!
We went for New Year's Eve. The atmosphere was great. Cozy, warm and we had a great time. Great staff, too. We loved it. We'll be back.
Have been to restaurant before and that was why we picked it for New Years Eve but had a special menu but no where on their website did it say that. The food was still very good but one person in party does not eat meat and the main fish item was sold out by 7:45 which was really disappointing. Had made reservations and the restaurant was not that full and yet they were going to seat us right by the door on a high top table which was very noisy and would have been cold. We asked to be moved and they had no problem finding us a table. We will definitely go back because they have a great regular menu that has a lot of gluten free items which is good.
This was my first time dining at this restaurant. The space is charming and beautiful. The food was phenomenal. Though they wouldn't keep me from returning, I have 2 complaints-
1. We went on NYE. We were looking for a place that didn't have a limited super expensive menu. All restaurants that I had looked at listed either on their site or on Open Table that they had a special menu, and they did not, hence, the reason we made the reservations. Only to get there and find out the cheapest meal was $55.
2. Our waitress was a bit flighty and it was very evident she didn't want to be there. For an upscale place, she wasn't as professional as she should have been. She kept forgetting food items and making passive aggressive comments which I certainly could have done without.
I would like to return and try their regular menu.
