Blackshop Restaurant & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I had a birthday that we wanted to celebrate. (Even though we didn't mention it was a special occasion). We consider Blackshop to be a special occasion restaurant as we come from out-of-town and normally is priced above frequent dining for us. We enjoyed the service, beverages and meal very much and finished off with delicious deserts. Thank you for the gracious serice and delicious meal.
food was top drawer. The service could have been better. We had to ask for the evening specials and for the wine list to be returned b4 the mains. I suspect our person was new to the job as she was pleasant and friendly. Side room had an event and the noise level was quite high. Mini desserts were a good finish.
The ambiance and staff are lovely. The food is quite tasty. The downside is the horrendous pricing for menu items that are good but not that special. $12 for caprese salad that consisted of three small slices of tomato and two small sliced of fresh mozzarella. $30 for salmon entre that consisted of a small piece of salmon served on plan basmati rice. It was good, don't get me wrong, but NOT specially and WAY overpriced. Won't go there again.
It was out anniversary which I made note of on the reservation, but at no point did anyone make mention of it. Drinks took forever while I could see the bar tenders and staff just talking, appetizers took awhile as well. We were given a piece of cheesecake as compensation for having to wait for things. Also had wait staff walking through the restaurants discussing the crappy tips people had left them. Not sure if I would return or not.
Service and Food both very good. We have made this our meeting place for our family reunion luncheons for the past 3 years and each time have been very pleased. The waiter was so hospitable and attentive, we all felt like we were in a very high end Restaurant.
I visit the Cambridge area twice a year for a trade show. I make a point of our group having a dinner at the Blackshop. The food is always excellent, the service awesome and a good evening for all. I would recommend the restaurant for a quiet dinner, special event or dinner meeting. We will be back again in six months!
There for a birthday celebration. We were here one other time and the experience was just as good.
All staff were very attentive, polite and were always smiling.
The food was superb and with that and the rest of our experience there, definitely made the dollar value very good.
We are not local to Cambridge but will be coming back.
Our Luncheon was lovely, with exceptional food and service; however, a nearby table was very loud and intrusive and was occupied by Blackshop staff and several rotating wine merchants trying to sell tgeir wine selections. We finally had to ask other staff to have the owner, John, request some peace and quiet for us.
Not the usual Blackshop ambiance, but we believe it was downright Rude !!
Have always had good food at the Blackshop. The service is a little slow so best suited to a leisurely timetable, not a rushed lunch. The staff are helpful and never invasive. They respected our need for quieter area due to hearing difficulties and turned down the music in our area. I would hghly recommend the Blackshop, a little pricy but very good.
The service was excellent. I had the salmon... $30 for the tiniest piece of salmon (I've ever received at any restaurant...as I like to order fish when dining out) on top of spinach and a bit of rice with a bit of fish roe. For $30 I can go to the grocery store and buy a fillet large enough to feed at least a family of 4.
I understand we are eating at a nice restaurant and items will be a bit higher in price but I shouldn't feel ripped off and hungry when finished.
Otherwise our experience was very good. My husband really enjoyed the special and found it had good value.
