We always enjoy coming back . Food and attention are always perfect.
Amazing restaurant! I felt like our meals were cooked specifically for us. Just a super personal and friendly atmosphere that I highly recommend.
Very lovely lunch to celebrate an occasion. The octopus is A MUST LIKE OMG. I love octopus but I loved each component: acidic cherry tomatoes and a green purée. YUM! I think the wine selection is good - they should def start selling the cornbread. It was around 3 pm on a Saturday- our server was so nice and accommodating. She was very patient with my other party member for their selection. Our booth seat was close to the end of the restaurant and not much passerby so it was great for a time out with social distancing. They even had a specialty Happy Birthday Dessert with a chocolate “HBD” plaque on it. Made my day ever so special. Highly recommend !
Blacksalt is professionally run, with great food and impeccable service
Overall amazing experience! The service was a bit slow but we were not in a rush. We most appreciated them splitting our shared selections without us even asking. We shared Mussels, Wood-Grilled Octopus and Wood-Grilled Branzini. Desert choices were Key Lime pie and Apple Struedel. All were delicious! We plan to return and taste more of the menu.
Food was delicious and service was great. Very clean.
very unique and delicious options. extensive wine list as well. staff was super nice and knowledgeable
Love Black Salt. Food is always delicious and service is top notch.
Absolutely incredible dining experience. Amazing food and amazing service. Be prepared to be blown away. They always have incredible cocktails and the food will blow you away. 10/10 would reccomend to anyone looking for the best seafood they've ever had.
I went for lunch during Restaurant week. My first time here. The amount of food was definitely worth it. I couldn't finish everything. I enjoyed all my dishes and would return to eat here again. Both my friend and I thorough enjoyed our meal. The clam chowder, salad, scallops, swordfish were all delicious.
Went for restaurant week and had a wonderful time. We got the seafood stew and the crabcake sandwich and the key lime pie for dessert. Outstanding as always. They also had a fun cocktail list and we really enjoyed the Bernies Mittens. They had well coordinated service and the tables were very far apart...far more than what is required to be considered safe. We typically don’t like eating inside but I felt they went above and beyond to have a safe experience.
We love this place - great food and service. Great neighborhood spot. Best seafood and dishes - highly recommend.
Great food. It maybe healthier to serve slightly smaller dessert portions, we really enjoyed them otherwise.
Excellent, as always. So glad you’re back!
Went for RW and the offerings were very nice. Service was attentive and covid precautions adhered to. Food was fresh and prepared expertly. In particular the mussels and calamari were perfection. My only suggestion overall would be a bit less salt.
Our favorite place to go out for dinner. Whether it’s Saturday night date night, a birthday celebration, Christmas Eve or just a quick appetizer at the bar we love Blacksalt.
First night out in a long time during COVID, and overall great experience at Blacksalt. We were seated quickly and the host seated us in the wine cellar. Our waitress was nice, although not particularly warm...but it’s COVID and she had a mask on. The restaurant week menu was great. We have the claw chowder, calamari, the branzino, and desserts to-go. Everything tasted amazing and definitely will return. Only issue was with the boxing of the dessert. I ordered the key lime pie and all the sauces/whipped cream were stored in plastic cups in the same box as the pie. I thought that was gross plus the plastic cups had pie all over them once we got home and the serving of pie is small anyway.
My wife and I took my mother here for her birthday dinner. This was our first time eating at Black Salt. The food was simply amazing. We did not have a single complaint about anything we ate.
The server and manager were very friendly, and attentive but at the same time gave us space to enjoy our meal and night out.
I will definitely be going back.
Husband and I enjoyed an excellent restaurant week meal this past weekend. I had poke, red snapper and strudel. Husband had clam chowder, burger and trifle. Everything this was excellent and the portions were very generous. We will definitely go back to Black Salt!
I went to lunch for Restaurant Week. The food was AMAZING. Our server seemed very busy and stressed, but another server was very attentive and checked in on us multiple times. The only downside to my experience was that I could see the kitchen staff wearing their masks around their chins with their mouths and noses uncovered. We made a manager aware of the situation, and we were told, “we know, it’s been impossible to keep everyone wearing masks.”
Absolutely outstanding and perfectly presented food.
Fantastic service.
No compromise due to Restaurant week.
Brilliant!!
Food a d service was great. Add ins for Restaurant week were significant despite only 2 of 4 people having drinks.
Fabulous in all ways. The mixed seafood stew was delicious and the best combination I have tried, including Julia Child's bouillabaisse. It was so fresh and the broth was to die for. My clam chowder tasted right off the boat.. The salads were very fresh and full of interesting and tasty ingredients.
We dined here for their restaurant week menu. They did a good job with social distancing and our table was in a great location. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious. Our dining time here was a wonderful experience.
Never disappoints. Delicious food, great service.
I've been to Black Salt twice and both times the meal was memorably wonderful. The ingredients are very fresh, imaginatively combined and beautifully presented. The portions are ample. During restaurant week January 2021 I had a delicious grilled octopus appetizer, a wonderful green curry fish stew and a delicious key lime pie dessert.
We are frequent customers at Black Salt, but this was our first visit since the pandemic shut indoor dining down. As usual, the food was delicious, there were few people inside thanks to social distancing so the noise level was very quiet, but our waitress was totally distracted, forgetting to bring the wine until reminded (after our first course which was when we wanted to drink it) and totally forgetting our desserts. We had the feeling that she might be overworked, maybe responsible for too many tables - the service was very different from our many earlier visits.
I am very sensitive to the fact that the restaurants are really struggling and want to be as sympathetic as possible. Nonetheless I think Black salt may be struggling a bit. The menu was dramatically more restricted than any prior time we were there with fewer choices and options. As they have their opened Fish store in front it isn’t because they have a lack of supply. That being said the staff are doing the very best I can and the food items we ordered were quite good.
Restaurant week - menu was pricey and wines were not up to the standard.
The food is delectable. Everything is so fresh and perfectly prepared. The servers are funny, attentive, and courteous. They follow safety protocols during COVID-19, which I appreciate. I will definitely return.
The food was absolutely amazing, one of the best meals I have ever had.
Black Salt is a fabulous restaurant with outstanding food and great staff. Only snag is the price. Yup, it's expensive, but if you can afford it, it's great. Also, during the pandemic, it's great that you sit in booths.
Simply the most reliable, enjoyable experience of any local restaurant.
Blacksalt offers the best combination of fine food, expertly and carefully prepared, with impeccable and stylish service of any restaurant in the city. Consistently. It's a neighborhood treasure.
Really perfect calamari and a yummy pear salad and a lovely attentive staff. Fabulous experience!
Once gain, a go to seafood in DC or anywhere for that matter. Never had a bad meal. Great chef, staff. Just really the best from the Chef to the bussers they all work professionally and support each other. It's a symphony of professionalism and great creative dishes. The pastry chef is the best in the city in our estimation. Desserts are truly a work of art that compliments the creativity of the general menu items and leaves you with a 'good taste in your mouth'. A must go to when in DC.
Excellent, personalized customer service by the sommelier while maintaining socially distancing.
Always good service and food. Thank you
BlackSalt is a great place to dine. The staff is amazing. Friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. The wine selections are lovely and express diversity. The culinary creations are stunning from the decadent burger to the fried Ipswich clams. You can’t go wrong. Finishing the grand meal with a slice of Key Lime pie will have you leave with a smile. Enjoy!
Best overall fish restaurant in DC. You have to be creative and willing to experience different flavor profiles and nuances that will challenge your pallete but be well worth the experience. One of a few places around the world where I can say I have never had a bad meal.
