Lunch was delicious and noise level fine. Not sure about the server quality these days. Maybe it’s a consequence of the lunch beat but our waiter forgot 2 items in my order-a beverage and bread specifically requested. A little more attentiveness would help.
The service was impeccable. Delicious food. I loved it, will be back.
Black Salt an amazing seafood experience
The food and service are always great. Unfortunately we had a table near a loud party of eight adults. Felt like we were having dinner in a bar. Would be great if the manager could have asked them to quiet down.
Consistently delicious food and excellent service! The fish preparations are always a treat.
Black Salt is a true delight. Its cuisine is innovative and vibrant. Alle the flavours of the fish, meat and vegetables are coming out in true fashion. And the desserts are to die for. friendly and knowledgable staff. Nothing not to like. It is not cheap and neither should it be :-)
The food and the service were impeccable. However, the markup on the wine was outrageous. We were pleased to see our favorite Cabernet on the wine list until we saw the price. We pay under $12 a bottle for it and here it was $85. It is also served at many high end restaurants for half their price. Not a good policy.
Love the back dining room! Feels warm and cozy and is super quiet!
Tom again spot on with recommendations.
Reliably wonderful. Fabulous crabcakes.
So disappointed and embarrassed as I had an out-of-town foodie friend with me. It was a Wednesday night and we were hustled out the door in less than 45 minutes. Trader Joe’s would have dished up better fish. What a rip off!
love Blacksalt!! Nice happy hour - cocktails are good and nice happy hour menu. Dinner is always fantastic. The food is always fresh and interesting, the dining room cozy and the service attentive. It's a little pricey but worth it. Hope it never changes. Highly recommend.
From the appetizers to the dessert this dinner was exceptional. The salads were delicious and the mushroom risotto was the best I’ve ever had - including in Italy. The halibut melted in our mouths and the lobster dish was divine. This is one of our favorite go-to places for special occasions or if it’s just time to enjoy a lovely meal.
Wonderful Service and Food. Will definitely be going back.
Delicious fresh ingredients, excellent service, wonderful service for a birthday lunch.
Dinner for three was terrific. The Asian preparation of the tuna was the standout dish. Cocktails were delicious. Crime brûlée sample all great. Highly recommend.
The service and entrees were outstanding. The appetizers were clunky and not up to Black Salt normal standards-- that was the only diasppointment. We love this place and it is quiet-- you can actually have conversations across a large table! For such high prices, I would just expect all of the dishes to be good- great!
Excellent selection of fresh fish, appetizers and desserts.
Awesome and Innovative seafood dishes
Quite frankly, consistently the best restaurant in the DC area, except for the Inn at Little Washington.
Food was ok but it took over an hour to get our appetizer.
Im a big fan of Blacksalt but this time the food didn't taste as good and fresh as usual. The tuna entree was not good, the appetizers (scallops and oysters) were good but not excellent, the dessert (warm brownie) was terrible.
I dont like to be too picky, but we really dislike when servers clear the plates before everyone has finished their meal. That is basic etiquette, clear the table once everyone is done eating not before.
Everything we had was exceptional. Oysters, tuna tartar, crab cakes, rockfish, key lime pie were all delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I will caveat that with the restaurant wasn't too busy as we had dinner late on a Sunday night. They did personalize our menu because they knew it was our wedding anniversary...that was nice.
Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Great Menu! Great Service! A must if you love seafood!
My wife and I enjoyed the bar area while waiting for our table. We were a little surprised to be ushered to a back dining area for dinner. We would have preferred the booths around the bar. The ambiance in the back area went from a noisy party atmosphere to being so quiet as to hear every part of the conversations of the tables around us. I find that kind of atmosphere uncomfortable - when anyone can hear us no matter how quietly we speak.
With that said, the wine selection and sommelier were great, the food and service exceptional. Of we go back, we will request a booth in the bar area.
Great delicate flavors. Busy on a Friday night so a little crowded and noisy.
This was an exceptional dining experience, from the ambience, to the service, to the food. It was my partner's birthday, and I got major bonus points for picking this one. She's a seafood lover, and rated the oysters the best she's had in D.C. Everything else we ordered was so delicious. The restaurant even sent out a small dessert plate with "Happy Birthday" written on it with chocolate...a nice touch. Even though this is in a fairly isolated part of D.C. and you need a car to reach it, it's worth a visit for a special occasion or even just a great night out with someone you care about.
BlackSalt is our neighborhood go to place. Food is always great.
We eat at BlackSalt often. We both enjoyed our meal with just a few minor issues. My sea scallops were only seated on one side and my husband said the beans in his dish were hard to the point of being inedible. However, the flavors of the food were as always amazing. So, a few execution errors will not keep us from coming back again and again!
So good! Would go back again no question. Entrees were truly phenomenal
Noise level was good because we were in back room. Originally they wanted to seat us up front which is very loud. When guest says quiet table in their reservation they shouldn’t have to ask to be seated in back room when they get there. Minor issue in a great evening! Overall another great experience.
The food was wonderful and the service was very slow. There was a long wait for the server to take the order and another long wait to get the bill. This is a great place for lunch, though not if a person needs to get back to work. That said, I will certainly go back.
Always good for seafood and their chowder is very, very good. But it is on the pricey side
Great Valentine’s Day dinner, love the seasonal menu, best chowder I’ve ever had
This restaurant has consistently excellent food, especially seafood. It's comfortable and attractive with good service.
BlackSalt is one of the best fine seafood spots in Greater DC. Sensational seasonal menu, great bar program, and superior service.
This was our 4th time coming back to Blacksalt. Everything we ordered for food was DELICIOUS and the mojito I ordered was sweet and strong. It was valentines and we booked an early rsvp, so it just opened for dinner and it was not too busy. The server was an older lady, she was busy chatting with another table, which was fine because my husband and I are low maintenance customers anyway. We waited to be checked on at the end of our dinner and we requested the dessert menu. I guess she was busy chatting with another table that she just handed us the check. I guess she saved us money. We will definitely be back, just hopefully a different waitress/waiter.
Probably the best fine dining lunch at the best price in DC
My wife and I have routinely stopped by for Happy Hour on the way home. This time we took a friend there for dinner. From start to finish, we really enjoyed ourselves. Our server, Tom, was great. Knew the menu inside and out and, while we are not high maintenance, he was accommodative, fun and attentive. The food was excellent. Had a delicious salad to start and a rockfish that was very expertly prepared. The crab cakes were perfect. Had a nice pinot noir from a very robust wine list. We sprung for desserts and they were a hit. Overall this place has a very welcoming vibe and superb skills for food and service.
Everything was good , but a little to many ingredients in the Lobster dish .
trying to hard . Lobster it self was good
