Amazing food and very good service
No attention to detail. Appetizer before drone arrive. Also started delivering main course before finished appetizers the person delivering noticed this and turned and headed back to the kitchen I assume to go under heat lamp. Not the type of service I expect at a restaurant at this price point. Disappointed.
Ambiance was just ok, just a lot of loud conversations with no background music to mute it out. Service was also non personable, just felt that we were just being served and that was it.
Food was good but the service was slow. It may have just been because it was Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was crowded.
Food was amazing and I’ll definitely go there again
Great Valentine’s Day lunch with excellent customer service. We have never had a bad experience here.
Excellent food and service.
Pre Valentine Day
Excellent, as always. 😊
The food was exceptional. The wait staff mixed. Noise level made chatting next to impossible.
Wonderful in every way
Black Salt is the gold standard for seafood restaurants. We had the 5 course chef’s tasting menu paired with wine. Each course was exquisite and the service was unparalleled. The sommelier made the experience special for all of us by sharing his expert knowledge on each of the different wines. The atmosphere was lively but in a classy way. We will definitely be back.
Waiter was phenomenal
Regular changes to the menu and an excellent wine list (including by the glass) make this one of our favorite neighborhood places, especially for something a little more upscale. The service is always impeccable; the food is thoughtfully put together and quite delicious!
Fantastic spot for a premier Valentine's date. Great food and service. Greatly enjoyed the chef's 5 course meal and wine pairing.
Food and service both excellent
Excellent, as always.
Black Salt seems to have a very good reputation, but it is not deserved in terms of food quality. The food is overly fussed with and generally not high quality seafood. The “New England” clam chowder bore no resemblance to actual New England chowder. It was thin, overly seasoned with unrecognizable ingredients, and came with three little deep-fried clams floating on the top and three little clams in half shells lurking under the surface. The crabcake sandwich was very disappointing, not at all like the honest Maryland crabcake people are used to, but a tasteless scoop of shredded something that could have been some kind of crab, but wasn’t identifiable. Considering that Black Salt has a fish market at the front of its restaurant, you would think that its menu would be made up of un-gussied up seafood, cooked properly and seasoned with restraint. I come fairly often because it is convenient but I usually come away disappointed in the food. The service is very good—professional and prompt.
Waiter was outstanding.
Service is usually really attentive, but we were pretty much neglected by our waiter. Water and bus service was great, but the waiter didn't check in re: our entrees or dessert; never refilled wine glasses from the bottle on the table. The som made a great, value-oriented recommendation for the wine.
Nice surprise! Seafood dishes were very tasty. Mussels were incredibly delicious. Service was positive, enthusiastic and attentive. Look forward to my next visit.
It was Fantastic! I recommend again and again!
It’s a go-to place for me and two former co-workers. I only wish there were a little more variety on the prix fixe lunch menu. It always seems to be the same choices each time. That being said, the food is always good.
Excellent, as always.
Express lunch always a good choice!
the restaurant blew us away. At first when you walk in there is a fish market then we were seated in the back that was really quiet and nice. The waiter was very attentive, nice, knowledgable, and very fast. One of the best I've had. We will definitely go back, and definitely recommend to others.
We were very excited to try Black Salt after many recommendations. We were disappointed that the restaurant did not clearly list all ingredients in one of the dishes and my husband had to scrape off all of the toppings from his dish as he does not eat one of the ingredients. We felt that it was very expensive, but the food was tasty.
Great service. Delicious food. High price point but did not disappoint.
A go to place for a special occasion. Really good menu with many selections and very tasty dishes. The staff is totally on its game with meals brought all at the same time, water refills right when needed and a alert staff. It is on the pricey side so we save visits for special occasions.
Excellent fresh fish. Well prepared.
When we got there. We were informed that they were inly honoring restaurant week for lunch...
I really enjoy BlackSalt, but this most recent trip was not as good as prior times (including other Restaurant Week visits). The Shrimp and Grits were fine, but nothing spectacular. The seasonings/flavors didn't really add anything. The sweet potato soup was nice. The salad looked better than it tasted. The mandarin orange sorbet was excellent. I would still recommend the restaurant, I was just slightly disappointed compared to prior visits.
And the restaurant week menu was an excellent value. I loved the sweet potato and apple soup.
While our waiter, Tom, was very nice and attentive the food was sub-par. We all had different things and none were good. Three of us had the crab cakes, Which I personally have had on several occasions. There was no lump crab meat but LOTS of filler. The clam chowder had 3 clams and the rest was bacon....while tasty (cuz after all, bacon!) it should be called bacon chowder. We were all very disappointed.
Black Salt is always a delicious and pleasurable experience! You can’t beat their RW prices for amazing food!
BS was as outstanding as usual. Terrific food, creatively prepared and expertly served
Wonderful food, service and environment. Excellent drinks, appetizer was perfect. Only real complaint is the price, but for a special occasion, it’s fantastic.
Excellent service and delicious food. We had a party of 8, so we were able to sit in the back room of the restaurant which was super nice. It was like a private room with a few other tables.
We came for restuarant week, and all the courses were so delicious. The server mentioned they offered a similar deal for lunch throughout the year. That is really worth the money in my opinion.
