Our waiter was not very welcoming. Never smiled. barely gave us the time of day. I would say there was very little training. I brought a friend who was there for the first time. She mentioned how poorly the service was. The food at Blacks is always great.Its always fast.and always right. The Oysters are the best, nicely presented, the right temperature I just wish our waiter understood the brand he represents. I still gave him a nice tip, but needs to learn how to be polite, a little charming would help as well. At the end of the day, spending $200.00 for dinner, ought to have the whole package.

Great attentive service; just great food and a very nice energetic environment. Oysters, spinach salad and ahi soba noodles all could not have been better prepared or presented. Server asked how we wanted our courses presented and we said each separately since we were not in a rush. Really appreciated being asked. Will be thrilled to return.

The scallops and tuna soba entrees were excellent. Dessert was just okay. The blueberry almond cake was dry and the apple pie was not served warm enough. We noted in the reservation and in-person that we were celebrating an anniversary but the restaurant did not acknowledge it or do anything special which was disappointing.

I randomly decided I wanted seafood for dinner last night. Blacks has amazing seafood selections! I’ve been multiple times and am never disappointed. The chef always has creative and delicious meals on the menu. The bar makes great cocktails. The wait staff is always efficient and nice.

We went on a a Friday night just for fun with the family. We shared a dozen oysters - which were fresh and delicious. I then had the seafood combination - which was truly fantastic. Great selection of fresh seafood, well seasoned and well presented. Service was excellent. The waiter was friendly and attentive and able to describe the items on the menu. Great cocktails in nice glassware. Full Bethesda price of course. Will surely return.

Right after bringing a bottle of wine to our table, they turned the lights up and said “we’re closing”. It was 9pm on a Wednesday evening and we sat at the table at 7:15. It is absolutely appropriate to message that the kitchen is closing or that the restaurant is closing and service will soon stop, but treating restaurant guests like it’s last call in the wee hours of the morning seems obnoxious and rude.

After several takeout orders, this was our first visit back in-person. We've always loved the food at Black's and it did not disappoint. Of course, we expected higher prices and a shorter menu. Still plenty of delicious choices. As always, the service was top-shelf. The only turnoff was the wine list: bottle prices were prohibitive. There was nothing under $55 and few under $70, and most were unfamiliar, making that kind of expense risky. As for noise, there seemed to be a bit of extra spacing between tables, but in trying to converse, we still had to repeat ourselves at times.
