We had the WORST service we have ever had!
Really disappointed with Dinner. Service was horrible. Seems like a recurring theme from recent previous posts which I did not see. Not sure how it only shows one 1 Star rating, when I see more than 5. How does this place still have almost a 4 star rating? Got seated at a table where both lights were out so to even see the menu we had to use the flash light on our phones. I don't even think they knew the lights were out above us. Perhaps that's why no one greeted us at the table until about 25 to 30 mins of being seated. Maybe they couldn't see us because it was so dark? LOL, not really. After waiting and watching another family at a table beside us get seated after us, get drinks, eat dinner, have dessert and then leave (45 min) , I just about had it and asked where our dinner was. It was lost somehow. Not for the table next to us though. It appeared they were not properly staffed for 2 parties one of which consumed my server's time and attention. The other server didn't seem to have that same problem and managed just fine. 2 3/4 hrs for a simple appetizer and dinner for 4 was really painful. It was my Birthday celebration dinner to boot and they didn't even see it on the reservation. Too focused on the 2 large tables. Manager did stop by to apologize and took care of us and comped my dinner and offered dessert which was very nice for the Salmon that I finally got. It was just bland with no flavor. We will NOT return after reading the most recent reviews where customers had the same experience so it was just our night. It's every night. Last 2 times have been very unpleasant. Such a shame. It used to be a great place to dine and get great food and service.
What was supposed to be a wonderful family get together turned out to be a sad and miserable occasion . The service was abysmal , we waited forever for our server to attend to us . Our main course eventually arrived but the sides got to table when the entree was done . We had to ask the server five times where the sides were . The restaurant was busy and i don’t think there were enough servers or cooks to get through the dinner . We will not go back again .
Well I never. We came back after our last visit and it was night and day! The service was fabulous, the food was hot and we walked out of BHG with big smiles and a world of hope!
The fish & chips were out of this world good and the Meyer lemon chicken was super tasty!
As our local go to, it’s been hard to not come here - so glad we can come back and look forward to it.
Food quality seems to have recovered from a few months ago when the chef changed. That being said I ordered a pretzel burger and the bun was most definitely not a pretzel bun, which I've had there many times before. When I asked they said it was....hmm ok.
Service is hit and miss and greatly depends on the server. Nicole for example is very attentive and great. I asked for her tonight and they said her tables were full but she's in the section next to mine "so I could say hi". Her section only had 1 table the whole time we were in there, so not sure why the host station wasn't accommodating to my request.
Unfortunately as a result service tonight was poor. We didn't see our waiter between ordering and main course being dropped. We ordered bread and never got it, we were out of wine but had to wait a good while to order more. Sadly this seems to be more the norm these days, unless you get one of the exceptional waiters.
Desserts were great, an improvement on recent times. They seem to have figured it out again.
Always conduct business lunch and or business happy hour and never disappointed.
We waited 10 minutes before the waiter recognized us. There was a table next to us with a screaming child. 4 tables left and management did nothing. My aunt asked if they could control the screaming child and that we could not have a conversation due to the disturbance. The offending mother confronted our table and we went to get the manager. Management sided with the offending table and tried to admonish my group that we did not handle the situation well. Their management is a joke, obviously incompetent to deal with simple every day issues that most restaurants has policy to deal with screaming children. They failed to address the issue and then did poorly once it got out of hand.
Scallops were wonderful. We also go for the hamburger it is remarkable
I went for a birthday, the food was good but the service was a little bit slow. However, the restaurant was very busy so that is understandable
burgers are dry. menu read pretzel bun, but it came on regular buns. pickles were stale on the side of the burgers. so disappointing.
Food and service value has really dropped off since they first started yrs ago. They charge an outrageous price for wine and a corkage fee only acceptable for more upscale dining places such as Bridges and Esin's. We went on a Wed. night and the place was almost empty. That says a lot about how they have lost interest from the neighborhood residents. Don't plan to return since so many other fine dining places in Danville.
Horrible experience. Won’t be returning.
The best in Blackhawk. Frequently there. Lovely view. Nicole was our server and she is the best. The Assistant Manager came over and made sure everything was taken care of. Sorry I don't remember her name but she has frequently checked up on us. Thank you. Silver Oak was great
Server was more interested in flirting with coworkers than in being attentive to his customers
The fish and chips serving was generous and delicious. The service was prompt and thoughtful.
If you want McDonalds quality food for a Black Angus price then this is the place for you. Highly disappointing overall. Would not recommend this to anyone. Please be aware that I would not usually write a bad review however this was a pretty astoundingly bad experience. The one positive I will give is location.
Excellent! Great for families with little ones
I can't believe they ran out of meat loaf - one of the most popular dishes on the menu and it was only 8 p.m.
Our meals were good. We had the calamari for an appetizer, and then my wife had the scallops and I had the pork. Service wasn't very good. It took almost 20 minutes for us to get our drinks, and then another 10 - 15 minutes after than until our appetizer came out. Sure enough, about 30 seconds after the appetizer was delivered the server brought our main courses. This isn't the first time this has happened there. My overall feedback on this restaurant is that their food is consistently good, but there service is often fair at best.
After 40 minutes I had to get the Manager because the waiter Hadn’t shown his face. After that the dining experience was wonderful the manager did a great job in making up for the staff’s mistakes.
Appetizers were delicious. Especially the sizzling shrimp. Great service.
Kitchen was closed at time of reservation. No meal service between 3-5 pm.
We really enjoyed the Blackhawk Grill.
It is such a wonderful place.
The food was outstanding as usual.
My guest had the Fish & Chips... fabulous!
Sunday Brunch. The service was very good and the eggs benedict with prosciutto was tasty. A lot of other things fell off track. I'm sorry I chose to come here for my birthday and will not be returning.
The BHG has been our go-to restaurant for a casual lunch or dinner for 10 years. Summer dining on the patio overlooking the lake is especially fun. Just remember not to feed the ducks 😜.
Overall a great experience for dining any time of the day.
1) A broader selection of IPAs is recommended.
2) The bartenders need to make sure the beers are topped off to the rim. Short of the rim seems like someone took a sip........
Very cold on the restaurant, but food and service were good.
Daughter’s 16th birthday. They had a great time and my friend and I had dinner in the bar. Thanks!!
It was my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and my dad’s bday and we were expecting something special for them as an amenity from restaurant and were given no courtesy dessert or drinks etc. A bit disappointing as we could have gone anywhere.
second attempt! I was unable to redeem the $10.00 certificate that Open Table sent me. The waiter explained that there must also be some kind of code or the restaurant would not accept it. I had no idea what he was talking about and I certainly would not be able to activate it on the spot
I do feel that Open Table needs to have this feed back so that this uncomfortable situation doesn't ruin anyone else's birthday dinner.
Thank you for the venting space. Mrs Selma Forkash
The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. The busser came by and offered us water and, unfortunately, he was the service highlight of the night. The server checked in fairly promptly but her follow ups were infrequent and not timed with our food. The expediters were consistently bringing food to the wrong table; dessert was delivered to us shortly after our first round of drinks and before our apps were ordered and our main course was brought to the wrong table. The pork chop was delivered rare, cool and uncooked in the middle, and the rest of our food seemed to lack flavor - pork belly was bland, steak was smokey but with no other flavors and the broccolini was on the tender side of crisp but again with no flavor.
Taking out of town guest to Blackhawk Grille before going to the museum made for a perfect afternoon. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food was beautifully presented.
Blackhawk Grille is consistant, food is afordable, nice ambiance and clean.
We have been coming to Blackhawk Grill for several years. The staff has always been pleasant and professional. The food has been very good, although this time my meal was not hot particularly my potatoes, they were cold. However my Crab cake Benedict while not hot was very tasty. We will be back even though we have to travel quite a distance to get to the restaurant.
Waiter was amazing but out food took 50 minuets to come out and when it did the steak was cold. Disappointed for sure. The kitchen needs help.
Setting was lovely - got there early , before the late evening rush . As it got busier the noise level steadily increased , making it hard to have a conversion with my dinner mate .
Our sangrias were watered down -the calamari appetizer was over cooked making it far too chewy . Our main courses were pretty basic - the risotto was the best part of either of the menu items we chose. But for $100 we felt like we spent too much for what we received .
Mehhh at best. Menu is boring, $25 corkage fee, calamari appetizer tasted like they came out of a frozen Gorton's Seafood bag. My scallop dinner was good, but the pasta dish that my friend ordered was a joke. We won't return.
Such a lovely atmosphere and our food was delicious. Only complaint is a mixup with our bill. I had a $100 gift card and didn't notice until I got home and checked my bank acct that they didn't deduct my gift card. Still waiting and it's been 5 days
The restaurant was very busy, but our server was great was vey attentive.
