Blackhawk Grille Ratings and Reviews
The visit to the restaurant was for fathers day. It was an overall good experience. The only negative thing I comment on was not being notified that the restaurant was only offering a brunch menu. The food was awesome, service was great. Good atmosphere and general hustle and bustle noise of restaurants is expected here. At least for this fathers day brunch noise is expected.
Last minute reservation for Father's Day. When we arrived, we were informed that the brunch was buffet only, and by-the-way, it $55. Decided to stay, but after eating what amounted to $10 worth of food, decided to vacate the premises, never you teturn again. So much for Blackhawk Grill!
The rib appetizer and beet salad made a perfect warm weather dinner. Brought my own bottle of champagne and our server Nick was very quick to get the ice bucket and glasses. The Grille has a great wine list and a wide selection of dining choices from comfort food to seasonal specialties. Nick added to a very fun evening in addition to being an excellent server. Sitting by the lagoon is a pleasure; especially at night with the overhead lights sparkling in the water. Great dining experience with family, friends or your sweetheart.
Our second time dining here in the past 2 weeks after not going there in over 5 years. Their new menu is great for us. There is a good variety that makes it enjoyable to go more frequently. We use our Passport Dining membership to get 2-for-1 but would still eat here without it. We also noted outdoor music that we may check on for future dining.
It started out pretty well but ended up being quite a FIASCO! The primary bright spot of the evening was our server Nicki and (she was in training) but seemed to be the most 'grounded' and 'focused' employee that we interacted with that night! We had a reservation for the evening and the hostess seated us promptly after adjusting our reservation from 4 to 6 people on the lake. The food came out in 'dribs and drabs' and 3 of the meals were cold and very marginal in quality. It got chilly out on the patio/lake and we requested that the heaters be turned on a number of times! One finally (after multiple requests) got turned on at one end of the table but the other heater never got turned on. It seems like things 'de-compensated' as the evening wore on! We finally moved inside to finish our dinner due to being cold and could only find the table just inside the hostess stand with no chairs to finish things up! That was one wild Full Moon that night (Friday)!!
My three kids husband and I wanted to get dessert and drinks because we were in town and figured this was the right place to go since we had been there in the past for dinner the bread pudding wasn't as good as the last time that I had it and the bartender was a little bit cold to say the least. We would have ordered more drinks but he wasn't friendly.
I have always enjoyed their blackhawk chop salad so was very diasppointed when both of us ordered it as our entree and a regular salad appeared! Don't know what happened but somewhere between last August and the other day, the chopped up chopped salad is just a regular ole' salad. It was dry, very little dressing and was just blah...... We commented to our server and she was like "oh well, that's the way it is now."
Sitting out on the patio, with a specialty cocktail in hand and the water fountains humming, I feel like I'm away at a high end boutique hotel, somewhere far away. Yet, it's not just the atmosphere that keeps me returning to this consistently fabulous fare, it's also the service and range of fancy and not-so fancy food choices. The salmon dinner is my favorite-- no better have I found! And, this is a must-order dessert place: seriously tempting selections. Save room!
This is my third time and every time we have had a very enjoyable afternoon. Service is always good as well as the food. Walking around the plaza, shopping, going to the movies all in the plaza area makes for a wonderful afternoon for the family or even a girls day out.
Blackhawk Grille is one of our consistent favorites and sitting outside on a warm evening is really the best way to dine here. They have a beautiful view overlooking a nice river. Food us usually pretty consistent, especially the Short Rib Meatloaf and Chicken chopped salad.
We celebrated my birthday here. This restaurant did not disappoint. Overall satisfaction is good. A few items to that needs improvement
1. mac and cheese is too creamy. please add more cheese
2. ahi tuna salad needs more tuna. for the price, the tuna is not proportionate to the greens
3. please provide a disabled-friendly main entrance
arrived on time for our reservation and were seated 20 minutes later and restaurant was not that busy. When food was served it was luke warm, the ahi tuna was cooked well done and only had 2 very small slices. Food was plated awful. We were NOT told the "kids" hamburger was slider size and only 1 was served. Had to order another one for my grandson. In general, very unhappy with the overall experience with this restaurant, food, ambiance, drinks, personnel. The price we paid for meals and drinks 8 people, we left very dissatisfied. We live in the area, but we will never return to Blackhawk Grill.
I was hoping for a beautiful experience for Mother's Day but, instead, was most UNimpressed.
We were seating in the "fishbowl" toward the back. No tablecloths, near the noisy kitchen, food was terrible, waitress was unfriendly, I could go on and on. The price of $50 PP just made this one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered. I was there with my Mom, Dad and my 2 daughters. Super disappointing...
We waited 40+ minutes for our meal. It was hot when we received it. The waiter apologized for the wait, there was a wedding party in the back room. They said the meal was on them. They delivered the meal and left. They did not return to ask us for anything else.
Probably won't go back there again. :(
I ordered ribs. It was half cooked, got shredded cabbage instead of coleslaw. We waited one hour before we were served food. Our waiter tried but unfortunately the kitchen did not respond. Portions of food was very small relative to prices charged. Everything seemed to be so disorganized. Save your money eat somewhere else!
Came on a Saturday before a movie and could not have been more disappointed with the food. Drink order was wrong (who puts lime juice in a martini), food order was wrong (burger well done, ordered rare. All extras missing).
Manager did comp the items in question but for these prices one would expect to get a martini and a burger with no issues.
We came with a group that included two children. The service was wonderful. Our server was very attentive without being pushy. Adjustments and timing were wonderful. The restaurant was well staffed and things moved very smoothly. I love the location because I can take the children out to feed ducks and be kids while the adults get to relax, enjoy the end of their meal and pleasant conversation.
Food was good, service started out poor. We were seated and after 20 minutes of no waiter, I had to get up and tell the hostess that none of the servers seemed to know that they had our table. The server disappeared for a few minutes, and finally a server came to our table and expressed his embarrassment. After that our service was OK.
