We've loved Blackhawk Grille for over 20 years but it seems to be going through another rough spot. The service was inattentive at best, even though the restaurant was not busy. The drinks took forever, waters were not refilled, and nobody checked on us once the food came out. The food was ordinary to blah and three out of seven orders (four entrees and three apps) were problematic. They forgot to put the parmesan on the side, added peppers to one dish after the customer told them she had a serious allergy and cooked the tuna rare when it was requested medium. One diners entree was cold on the outside and steaming inside. Because we had spent over $100 we were awarded a $20 gift card for a future visit but nobody wanted it. I hope they step it up again, but we won't be coming back again until the reviews turn around drastically.
We got our food before our drinks. Waiter was very slow and never checked on us. Food took long to come out but it was really good. We had to ask a few times for drinks since we saw food was taking long time but still nothing came out. It was around 11:30 morning Sunday so not really a peak time.
Beautiful setting. The food was very good and prepared as requested. The servers were very attentive. Great atmosphere
Even though it was a very hot day we enjoyed sitting outside by the water.
It was my bday celebration. They gave me a free dessert. The waitress was very friendly! Everyone enjoyed their meal.
The restaurant was nearly empty and the server did not check for coffee refill until late in the meal. My 86 year old mother was looking forward to the French toast and was served after everyone else and the food was COLD. We have enjoyed our experience there in the past , but we're disappointed on this occasion. It was my wife's birthday.
Lovely setting both inside and out. Food tasted great; waitress delivered wrong condiments on my burger, but I still enjoyed it!
The patio setting is nice. Music a little loud. The food was over cooked for all entrees. The Chardonnay wine was not chilled, so we were kept waiting for the wine. I am sorry to say that we will not return.
The food was very good, as was our server. Both are recommended. That said, we were a bit disappointed that our occasion was not acknowledged, at all. We were asked during the reservation to note any special occasions, so we noted that it was my birthday. While I don't really care for much acknowledgement, it seems a bit disingenuous to ask us to input our special occasion and then not acknowledge it at all.
Great service! We had a large group, and the restaurant was very accommodating.
Lovely table outside beside the fountain/pools. Reasonable prices, great menu selections, tasty food. Family was very pleased.
this was a fun friends get-together while my sister was visiting. service was great as was the food.
What a disappointment! This used to be one of our "go-to's" for an upscale comfort/casual dining, but boy, it has changed. It was a Sunday and there were only 3 tables seated in the restaurant, a couple tables on the patio, and the bar was empty! The service was confused, with different people coming over and repeating requests and info. They said there was no "fish of the day" on Sundays because they are never busy on Sundays! The food was average, nothing to stand out. The calamari were fishy and otherwise tasteless, the meatloaf was dry, and the prices were too high for what we received. Not sure how many times they've changed management and/or chefs in the past 2 years, but the current set-up is probably only months from closing if they keep it up! Try Fat Maddie's down the hall, it's much fresher, better, and friendlier!
Pricey, but ambiance, food and service quite good. Desert selections need improvement. Coffee is terrible. Annoying that despite having made the reservation and confirmed it through Open Table, receptionists unable to find it in their system!
One of the guest’s food came out cold and had to go back. Service and ambiance was excellent.
Excellent service, superb ambiance, and delicious food.
Service was slow!! Waitress working our table was also sitting up private room party!! We had several flies on our window area which I mentioned when I left. Corkage fee of $25 is a little much for this grill and area restaurants!! $15 or $20 would be more in line!! Especially since I filled our glasses during dinner with the exception of the first glass.
Great location. Love the staff. Food needs to have more variety. We go there often. Compliments to Crystal, Janetzee, Lauren and SALVICA
Margherita drink was terrible, asked for heavy salt and still he only did half the rim. Service was terrible, kept having to flag our server down for salt/pepper and another drink. Bread was the worse, no taste, flat. Sea scallops were ok but polenta was completely tasteless
First I want to say we used to love Blackhawk Grille and still may again but they need some serious improvements. They are trying to build the reputation back up but this recent experience won’t help them in my opinion. July 3rd we dined there for dinner. Wait staff were awesome! Appetizer (Calamari) and one dinner (grilled salmon) was very good. My meal (rack of lamb) came out so over cooked it was gray. The second one was seared nicely but cold/raw in the middle. This took 1.5 hours so I ordered a flatbread as I was hungry. It was burned on the bottom and lukewarm (cheese not even melted) on top. Meal was comped after the Executive Chef was no where to be found. Staff was even surprised he had left in the middle of dinner service. Kitchen staff were struggling with getting food out. As a curtesy before posting this I emailed the manager and general manager, zero response. I don’t recommend BHG anymore as it seems even Management could care less about responding to constructive feedback.
JFM3, I am truly sorry that we let you down with your most recent experience. I really appreciate the feedback. I apologize in any delay in response. Your experience is very important to us. I would like to thank you for giving us another chance and hope you will give us the opportunity to make this right. I would love if you could contact me directly at 510-314-3507. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Ulises Rodriguez-Executive Chef
The only restaurant that has survived since the beginning of the shopping center. Great outdoor seating by the pond. The menu needs a refresh. Good Bar. Our server Salvica was exceptional.
Quiet dinner seated at the window to watch the ducks swimming around in the pond. Food was good and service was very good.
Wonderful birthday dinner, everyone enjoyed themselves. The service was excellent. Food very good. Sat outside, very enjoyable.
Lunch with friends and great sitting outside. Beautiful Day
Great food! Love the menu something for everyone in our group of picky eaters ages 13-92! Best birthday dessert ever!!
We went for dinner on Father’s Day and found out it was a Buffett . At first we were disappointed, turned out to be the best buffet we’ve had. Fresh peeled shrimp, prime rib was excellent and sliced potatoes.
I have been to the grille many times. I think the food selection on the buffet, the only choice on Fathers Day, was the most disappointing . The quality was low. The tri tip was very chewy. The chicken was dry. The veggies were over roasted. The desserts did not have enough variety and what was there was not high quality. The carrot, spice cake was dry. The salad choice was lettuce, croutons and tomatoes? They had a few potatoes. For the price this was not worth it. I would not go if it was buffet only. Our table of 5 paid $280. Very disappointing. Dad was not pleased.
Father’s Day Brunch.
Have eaten here many times (for Lunch), always good food, very good service, nice ambiance, view, good value for the $$$.
Our server was the absolute worst. Without going into great detail the bus boy brought us free dessert because he felt so sorry for us. Not sure what is going on there but it must be poor training.
recent changes are not an improvement - the refusal to offer the signature potato chips before dinner service is a deal breaker for this place. those chips were easily the best item offered here.
Excellent food and fantastic service!
We had a party of eight friends and we all had a great meal. Both of our servers were very professional.
Food was great. Beautiful day to eat outside on the patio
We celebrated 50th birthday for our friend. Waitress Tara was very friendly and thoughtful.
Always great food and fabulous service… My scallops and fish and chips were delicious!
I took My Office for lunch at the grill because we have always enjoyed the lunch there and it’s such a nice place to eat outside and relax. The food was a little disappointing and the orders got mixed up a bit. The service was a little slow as the restaurant was not busy at all.
We love this place all the staff is so friendly and they always come over to us and say hello . Scott the manager and Vanessa are wonderful . We really enjoy coming to Blackhawk grill every week And special occasions they do are great . brunch for holidays we always come here with our family great menu.
Totally recommend this restaurant!
Service at table was terrible, no follow up, never filled my coffee, had to ask for the bread that was supposed to come with the meal, asked for kids burger to be plain with just meat and cheese but came with mustard. Had to ask for hot sauce....bread finally brought with no butter or jam.
Ridiculous the poor service!!
Friendly server with excellent grilled shrimp entrée. Blackhawk Grille is kind of our favorite places. Outside tables near the pond provide a nice atmosphere near sunset. The pond comes complete with a few ducks.
Service and food were great. The only disappoint was the calamari which was such a small portion. It was $12 for less than 12 pieces. Should have been 2-3 times the portion size esp when compared to the brussels sprout appetizer.
