BlackFly - St Augustine
Excellent food and Matt was great.
Best service ever very well prepared food coconut lobster perfect and pizza the real deal best in place to eat
The food and service were very good. The decor is a fun fish theme. Unfortunately it was way too loud. We were only able to hear each other because we sat next to each other. I would not go back with friends as it was too noisy for conversation. It appeared that some attempt was made to lessen the sound by stapling cork to the ceiling. It did not work and it looked shabby
Oh man. Our sever was wonderful. She was so kind and I really appreciated her attention to detail. Outside of that... the owners recommended a wine that it turns out they were out of. Totally cool it happens. But instead of telling us themselves they sent our server and recommended a new one from a different region which was $10 +, and were not willing to make up the difference. We ordered the more expensive wine because it was still fairly inexpensive but it was the principle, that they wouldn’t make up the price when THEY recommended the first bottle that they were out of. They ended up comping a desert but my pasta with Maine lobster still had all of the cartilage in it so it was not enjoyable. Truly I was not impressed and wouldn’t recommended.
Very crowded and extremely loud... and service was a bit lacking. We clearly asked for the check to be split - and it was not. Had to ask for salad dressing and sauce for the steak. Attention to detail not as good as in previous visits.
Had a horrible time. Thankfully the owner came out and comped all of our food. We were there for almost 2 hours before the entrees hit the table. We had the beef tenderloin And the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was just okay.
Had a wonderful dinner. Would reccomend it to anyone.
Wonderful, and not our first time. Wonderful food and a great energy. The conch fritters are second to none, and that cones straight from my Bahamian father! Go and enjoy!!
Absolutely loved this place. Food was outstanding . Service was excellent. Loved the art work displayed (available for purchase).
Will definitely come back when we return to St. Augustine !!
The reviews on TripAdvisor were outstanding. My husband and I looked forward to dining there. We looked at the menu online and saw there were a few things we could eat; we are both allergic to peppers and pepper products and do not tolerate spicy foods. The restaurant is decorated nicely. The staff are welcoming and friendly. However when we were able to read the ingredient list for the selections, most had some type of pepper or wasabi in the food being offered. We ended up having a couple of drinks, tipping the waitress as if we had a complete meal and leaving without eating.
We have eaten here many times and the food, regardless of the dish, is always good.
We have been to BlackFly numerous times and have always had a wonderful meal. The food was fabulous, our server Lou was excellent and the overall experience was great. Highly recommend.
New Year’s Eve. The four of us each had something different...Lobster, salmon, tuna and grouper. We all raved about our meals.
We were there for my friend’s 50th birthday. The food was excellent and Ashley did a great job taking care of us!
We enjoyed our meal very much- the food was delicious!
My husband and I drove that day from Atlanta St.Augustine. We were really hungry when we got to Blackfly and were looking and hoping for a delicious meal. Blackfly didn’t disappoint. I had the fish of the day he had the scallops. Our waitress suggested an appetizer with filet I can’t remember the exact name. We loved it so much we asked for extra bread so we could have the extra sauce leftover. The meal was wonderful and we will return.
Portion size vs. price was not what I expected... Felt it was a little small, however the food was delicious and very well prepared.
Seated in smaller dining room (large party room) with no character as main dining room was full. 3 large parties (6 or more) were also there with lots of noise. Food was very good not out of the ordinary but the surroundings were lackluster compared to the main dining room so the dining experience was not what I expected when I made the reservation. Will not return.
Reviews do not always pan out, but in this case Blackfly is all it is billed and more. From the delicacies on the plate to the cultural masterpieces on the walls, your senses are challenged to absorb the moment. The table visit by Vaughn made the evening even more special. Come live in the moment!
Outstanding! Our family enjoyed another wonderful dinner at this delicious restaurant. Parking is fairly limited in the lot, so be sure to plan accordingly. Don’t miss the scallops, soups, salmon or key lime pie. Promise you will have a fantastic meal.
We were anticipating a wonderful meal after having dined at their sister restaurant, Collage. The Lobster MAC and Cheese was chewy (i.e. over cooked) and no side dishes were offered with this rather expensive entree.
Booked an early reservation (5:15) to get to an evening event so got seated and served quickly. Appetizer scallops were great. Conch fritters were tasty but would have liked them more on the crispier side. Husband loved the pizza. We shared the banana bread pudding, which was very good. Dessert took longer to arrive than anticipated so we really had to rush to eat, pay and get to our event.
The food was extremely over priced for what you get. My husband had to order 3 different times because they kept running out of items. Overall it was just lackluster.
Great place and great food. The place was a bit understaffed, but the staff there was in good spirits and nice.
In the middle of the Christmas week rush, the folks at Black Fly made us feel welcome and well treated. Good food and an interesting ambience. Some really good art done by the owner was also appreciated. Pretty simple offerings but well done.
It’s nice for a group event but there are no quiet areas for a special occasion as the noise level is quite loud. The waiter was excellent but for the price of entrees you should be able to hear your dinner companion conversation.
Matt went above and beyond to cater to my food allergies. Everything was delicious (as always, this is one of our families favorite restaurants) but his attention to detail stood out and meant so much to me! Especially on Christmas Eve! I came back two days later with my parents and he went out of his way to come over and say hi. :)
Incredible veal chop!
We ordered only appetizers to share, and they were all fabulous, this place could Bill itself as a tapas restaurant because each one was of such high quality ingredients and flavorful seasonings and sauces
The food was exceptional. Scallops were quite tasty and the cauliflower t-bone was super! Not impressed with chocolate mousse, but that was not a deal breaker! Will dine again!
Wonderful food, service, ambiance. Great place for special occasion, especially if you are a foodie who loves seafood, or if you love seafood and want to feel like you are a "foodie".
It may have been an off night. The other reviews were great, so we decided to book a reservation for dinner here while our group was in town. The atmosphere was great, well decorated, not noisy, seemed like a cool spot. The service was terrible. It took so long for the food to come back to the table that most of the food was cold. We had to send it back to be reheated and remade in some cases. The waitress also didn't make it to our table, we had to keep flagging her down for things like drink refills and our checks. They did give us creme brulee, but it also ended up on our check before they told us so we were left wondering why we were getting charged for something we didn't order. For about 15 minutes before they came over with it and explained, and then we had to ask for it be removed from the check. They also added 20% gratuity in our check, which is not abnormal with a large party, but they didn't tell us and that is a little more than most places charge. I definitely wouldn't have left that much of a tip for the lousy service we had. The food was ok, even when it was warm. Some dishes had smaller portions than others, so some people left hungry even though they paid the same. Overall, not a satisfying experience.
Wonderful food and a great vibe. Our server Alicia was great.
Another great night at Blackfly. Consistently delivers on the food and service with a great selection of potent potables.
Food delicious. Service attentive. Only complaint - wish I lived close to this restaurant!,
The service and the food was way more than I expected.
