Blackfins at Captain Hiram's Resort
A local fixture, Blackfins at Capt Hiram’s offers Sebastian’s best riverfront dining. Grab a table on our riverfront deck for fresh seafood, including “catch of the day” specials and locally sourced plates. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is Sebastian’s favorite spot for delicious island-style favorites, including conch fritters, crab cakes, fish tacos and local saltwater peel n’ eat shrimp. Don’t miss the Dirty Oysters, a Capt Hiram’s signature featuring fresh-shucked oysters served with caviar, sour cream, onions and hot sauce.
Dinner at Captain Hiram's Blackfins consisted of a wide selection of tasty food, a good wine selection, a great atmosphere, and really good service.
Service was very slow, food was decent and water view was great
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and the food and service have always been excellent.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this visit as far as the service.
We had a 7:15 reservation and was told our table was being cleaned, however we weren’t seated until 7:50.
There seemed to be a lot of confusion between the hostesses and I believe our table was given away to another party.
When we finally were seated, it took 15 minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge us and say she would be right with us which took her another 10 minutes to take our drink order.
Not sure if she was inexperienced but the service we received was sub par.
Horrific experience. Do not go.
Both my wife and I had the mahi dinner. Mine blackened, her’s as the menu selection. The serving size was about 2x4 ins. It was so tough and dry it was hard to cut even with a knife and even more difficult to chew. Totally lacked any flavor.
2 nights prior I had the same dish at another restaurant. The fish was prepared perfectly. It was tender and delicate with great flavor. Oh, and no knife required.
We had been going to Capts H’s for 5 or so years about 2-3x per month. That has changed. We have found the quality of the food has declined over the past year.
Very nice evening. Too noisy but an excellent view.
While server was quite busy, we had to ask for more drinks, but all bills were correct & server was personable. Good value for food ordered.
The location is fantastic, but the food is bland. I’veneverbeenhere but people rave about it. I’m thinking it’s the drinks.
While the location is unique, the food and service don't quite match it. Most of what is offered is fried offerings, though they do have a few raw bar type items. Service was, at times, slow though it was friendly. I wound up having a fried platter (I thought I could get it grilled), and while the shrimp and scallops were very nicely done, the fish was nearly inedible. Side dishes were plentiful, and I went with cole slaw that was too sweet by a ton. Drink selections were also good and, at least in our cases, strong.
Great location, great drinks. Enjoyed our waiter very much. Food was just ok, by who cares. Location, location, location.
There was ten of us... our waitress was very good. Food was outstanding 👍🏻.... we all had fun. My son and his wife were visiting from New York they had fun . Can’t wait to come again
had a great table oceanside. Food was fine, service was excellent.
Great fresh fish!
Great evening for our son’s birthday. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
I had the Fishermans Platter. The shrimp and scallops were a little too salty but otherwise the food and atmosphere was very good. My mom, wife and I would definitely eat there again.
We reserved via opentable and when we arrived the hostess appeared shocked that we reserved that way ( via opentable) as if it was sort of cheating or witchcraft and seemed stressed to find a spot for us , but finally did after 10 min past our reserved time. They shoved us into an overflow room with low ceilings and a loud crowd. The waiter didn’t write any of our orders down and subsequently delivered them to the wrong table (next to us) and tried to re-serve them to us even after we saw the other table eat some of the fries from the plates. After this we lost faith and just asked for the check after rejecting the picked-at entrees. The hostess acted offended as if we were being unreasonable. They charged us the $40 for the drinks and appetizers (which is ok for me) and offer a 25$ gift card to their restaurant which I declined for 2 reasons: 1. I don’t accept free stuff just because too many people do that and it makes restaurants believe that was the goal all along. 2. I will never go there again and therefore never use the gift card anyway. Horrible first experience /impression and one I hope others do not share with me.
Lisa - Server did a great job. Food was out fast and was good. Came based on a friend's referral, will come again. Thanks.
Had an outstanding evening, really good food at a great price and of course you can not complain about the fully stocked bar.
And having a great evening sitting on the water can't be beat.
We love this place!! Went to Blackfins with my Valentine, firs time there. Recommended by a business acquaintance. Absolutely terrific time! Everything was wonderful including the special table by the river they gave us, close but not too close to the terrific live music! Food was to die for - all from chef's Valentine menu. Even was able to get my better half a nice lounging dress for Hawaii at the attached store while we waited a couple of minutes for them to setup the table. All in all, could not beat a night like this one! Recommended in a BIG way.
Food is average and the ambience good especially for visitors to the area. The drinks were not the best, especially for the value. Mojito tasted as though no alcohol in it and the cosmos glass was so small not worth buying the next time.
Made reservation for 6:00 pm arrived shorty before and were seated immediately. Menu offered a great selection of choices to select from. Ordered deep fried pickles as a appetizer, they were outstanding. Also bring you a plate with some very good dinner rolls and butter before your dinner arrives. Dinner came in a short amount of time after it was ordered and it was a tasty fish and chips. Next time we are in the Vero Beach/Sabastian area we will make this a stop.
Capt Hiram's sits right on the water with a gorgeous view including magnificent sunsets, birds, fish jumping and an open air concept. The service and the food are both good but the location makes it an absolute must to relax and enjoy the Florida lifestyle.
Excellent choices. Reasonable with adequate portions. Good service and atmosphere.
It was our 40th anniversary, and not only was the food excellent, but our server Matt was outstanding. The only negative, the screens were up, as it was a beautiful day and when the dock light went on the bugs were attacking a few of us. Now that we know that we will make sure we do not sit near the light again. Overall it was a very nice night. Thank you Matt.
Very good service, selection, food, and reasonable price. What more can or needs to be said.
Great spot with our big family group.
Glad to see this local favorite back on track. The newly revised menu is a welcome change. We really enjoyed the specials. Service was excellent last night- from the hostess table to the manager.
Went for Christmas dinner 6pm reservation already out of 1 dinner special veggies subbed cream corn and both desserts that were advertised . was a little disappointed. Had gone the night before ordered from regular menu was better.
Food was good. Service was ok. Cool spot
We went there for Christmas dinner and our check was $300 which we were expecting to pay for a good dinner but the food was just awful and our waitress was the absolute rudest person ever, I bit my tongue through the entire dinner and still left a 20% tip because it was Christmas! Out of 10 people not one person wanted a To-go box and not one person left happy and to top it off the 4 people that had the snapper were running for the restrooms, so no I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and this is the first time I have ever left a bad review for anything! Run!
We came at 4 we had reservations. Three people wanted scallops wrapped in bacon (who could pass that up and then they all wanted carrot cake and both items were out. Poor planning on your part.
Awesome stay! Thank you! What a wonderful time and awesome view!
My wife and I had a very enjoyable dinner on Christmas day. The food was great, the service was great and with lots of happy faces and smiles.Would do it again.
Great Christmas Day luncheon. Perfect service and great seafood at reasonable prices.
Not what expected. Disappointed with visit. Very limited menu offerings. Not much seafood available for a “seafood” restaurant. Skimpy portions. Food served “luke warm” not “hot”. Server inattentive. Pricy. Limited parking available.
Birthday. Asked for a candle in dessert on the reservation & on the phone with hostess when confirming yet no candle.
Love this place ... We drive down from Melbourne from time to time to enjoy the great atmosphere, food and service. Also bring visitors here to show why it is unique living here.
Perfection for a fun, delicious, truly Floridian meal and with a view to die for! We LOVE this place!
Came in for Thanksgiving dinner.. Waitress didn't seem to be very happy working on the Holiday.. Service was a little slow and forgot items that we asked for.. Had to get someone else to get them.. It was our first time trying the restaurant and overall it was a good experience.
We we’re 5 and 1 got the catch of the day and fish was very mushy. 1 got the seafood Paella it was like rice that they just thought some seafood into the theCalamari were like rubber bands
