Blackfins at Captain Hiram's Resort
A local fixture, Blackfins at Capt Hiram’s offers Sebastian’s best riverfront dining. Grab a table on our riverfront deck for fresh seafood, including “catch of the day” specials and locally sourced plates. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is Sebastian’s favorite spot for delicious island-style favorites, including conch fritters, crab cakes, fish tacos and local saltwater peel n’ eat shrimp. Don’t miss the Dirty Oysters, a Capt Hiram’s signature featuring fresh-shucked oysters served with caviar, sour cream, onions and hot sauce.
First time doing the brunch buffet. It was delicious! As well as the bottomless mimosas! Can't wait to celebrate our wedding here in November!
Food was pretty good, atmosphere of course was great. Server seemed somewhat out of it, moreso than what one would expect for just being busy. Very late to arrive at table, long time to get drinks (ended up getting second round ourselves from bar), initially lost or forgot to put our order into kitchen (a different came to our table and re-took our order), never checked back once after food was delivered, had to get up and find her to get check.
Everything was perfect ~ The Bartender started waiting on me while I waited for my daughter ~ She kindly & professionally moved us to a riverside table and continued to wait on us. We enjoyed clams, a wedge salad and shared wings ~~ An absolutely perfect day!!!!
A group of us came to eat at the restaurant. The server was aware we were celebrating a birthday and did not offer to sing. We witnessed two other tables that received the birthday song and anticipated our table as well. We also listed the birthday on our reservation. Instead the birthday guest received a piece of key lime pie that she didn’t even request. The food was not good and was very bland and dry. It took forever for our server to come back with our drinks each time we ordered a round.. she stayed it was the bar but the restaurant seemed pretty empty at that point so over all our experience was below our expectations.
Service was excellent. Great views of the river. Great food and food choices
There were 6 of us. Four of us had the shrimp platter and two had the seafood platter. The shrimp were outstanding as was the fish and crab cakes. French fries were a little salty but still delicious.
Scenery was the best part of the experience. Good beer selection at fair price. Food was overpriced but good, nothing special. Nothing to "write home about".
The food was very good. Had the crab cakes and shrimp skewers. Really well done. The view of the inlet and marina are very nice.
Everything was great with the exception of the food.... The setting is really nice, overlooking the marina - we could see catfish right in the surf and dolphins. However, the food was mediocre at best. I had a scallop platter for $25. The scallops were soggy - definitely not worth the money....
Nice place by the water, lots of fish on the shore and people throwing food in the water. I didn't like that. Food was fresh and good, service was good. Drinks were good as well.
Basic seafood fare by the docks. The food was fine but not outstanding. The rum drink was disappointing. Service was great though and the bar crowd was lively!
Blackfins was recommended to us by a family member who lives in the area. Of the restaurants we've had the opportunity to checkout, Blackfins was the clear winner - so much so that my wife wants to go back to celebrate her birthday there while we are still on vacation. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was all you could ask for from a waterfront restaurant. To be completely fair, we were there during off hours (Wednesday afternoon lunch), which may have contributed to our dining experience.
Most importantly, I want to thank our server, Krista. She was great at providing what we asked for in a timely manner, with a great understanding of our large family needs. Even better, she had an opinion to offer. I asked questions about menu options, and instead of telling us everything on the menu was "great," Krista offered opinions based on her eating experiences. She proved to be spot on in her suggestions. I can only hope that when we visit again, Krista is available. If not, here's hoping the entire staff is trained in the same quality, personable manner that she provided.
We are looking forward to returning for another great experience!
Normal food, not impressed, poor service...
Our visit was at lunch time on a very steamy July day (88 degrees, felt like 102.) Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We had a riverside table on the patio, so the breeze off the water kept us cool enough. The views of the fishing piers, the little marina, and the spoil islands were wonderful. There was a wet muddy footprint on my chair where someone had stood on it to raise the canvas sun shade. I didn’t see it in time to save my beige pants, when I leaned against the chair before sitting, but it came out with the help of an ice cube... and the light cotton fabric dried fast in the heat. The over-all cleanliness of the dining area was good. The quality of the food was average. The fish and chips my husband ordered were fresh (he chose the Cod...) but my tuna salad had been around a while, and had that “hint of ammonia” seafood gets when the protein molecules begin to break down, and early stage decomposition has begun. I am guessing not many people order tuna salad, when crispy fried seafood is available. My cup of potato soup was delicious. Our friend had the boiled shrimp, served on a bed of ice... and she said they were “Okay...”
With gratuities, our lunches came to $20.00 each. That’s very reasonable for the area.
The food and the service were good and it was nice looking at the water but need to have more shade...it was extremely hot
Started when we checked in, we were early for reservation but I told the hostess we were just checking to see if they had any tables available. (We didn't expect to be seated, we were just checking) The hostess had a bad attitude and grabbed menus and walked us to seat without saying anything to us. We had buffet, at $15 per person we would expect more choices or flavor to the food. Place had empty tables and the waitress was apologizing for being overwhelmed but they didn't appear that busy at all. We all had buffet so we weren't even that difficult to take care of. We had to wait 20 minutes (minimum, felt longer) after we finished eating to find waitress so we could get our bill to pay so we could leave. We were a party of 4, we had one person have ONE mimosa, one person had ONE orange juice, one had iced tea, and the other had water. Total $74. Worst $80 (with small tip) we ever spent on breakfast. Never again, don't recommend.
The food was fantastic . The omelets were the best I've had. Everyone enjoyed their experience. I will definitely be back with friends and relatives.
Our waitress was nice but it took 45 min to get a tea, 30 min to get 3 bottle beers and 45 min to get check. Had to hunt her down to get the check after we had already told her we wanted it. Then after getting the check every check had a problem with it a needed to be fix. Very unhappy with overall experience.
Always great food and mimosas. Our server was amazing. Love going to Captain Hiram's!
First of all we loved our waitress Cindy. She was a bright star. But we were highly dissatisfied with the fact that they refused to seat us at a window seat which stayed opened the entire time we were there, because they were reserved! Well we had reservations! And didn’t give us a window seat! We did make a complaint to the manager on the way out but on deaf ears! The hostess who seated us was very ugly about our request to boot!!!
Karen offered great service for our party of 8. Thanks for helping us enjoy a wonderful night out.
We arrived about 5 min. early and were seated immediately. We had a very nice table near the river with a good view. It was a little breezy, in a good way. Our waitress was very nice and personable. The service was very good. The meal was very good. We hadn't been here in quite a long time, maybe 15 - 18 years. We'll be back sooner, next time.
Food was mediocre, at best, for the price. We hadn’t been in 10 years and had hoped it was better. Our table was cramped for 4 people and our seats shook with every movement from other tables. Our server seemed scattered but did a good job. We had to ask for silverware and napkins.
It was a pleasant dining experience with great views of the water. No bad seats in the house!!!
Tina Y. gave great service taking care of all our needs. Everyone really enjoyed our lunches.
Food was delivered timely and was delicious.
Everyone in our party either had the fish platter or the shrimp platter. Everyone agreed their meal was delicious. It's a casual and fun place on the river to eat. The views are great.
Good food and great atmosphere on a nice day with the patio open!
The food was good. I've had better and worse, the atmosphere was great, the view was good, and we didn't have a wait since we made reservations on line. The best part of the evening was the waitress. I think her name was Cindy and she kept us laughing. She's from the north and we were betting on where and before we could ask, she says Mobile, Alabama. She was great and really made our evening. We would go back just to see her.
Dinner at Captain Hiram's Blackfins consisted of a wide selection of tasty food, a good wine selection, a great atmosphere, and really good service.
Service was very slow, food was decent and water view was great
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and the food and service have always been excellent.
Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this visit as far as the service.
We had a 7:15 reservation and was told our table was being cleaned, however we weren’t seated until 7:50.
There seemed to be a lot of confusion between the hostesses and I believe our table was given away to another party.
When we finally were seated, it took 15 minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge us and say she would be right with us which took her another 10 minutes to take our drink order.
Not sure if she was inexperienced but the service we received was sub par.
Have been here a few times, and like everything about the restaurant. The atmosphere is great, being right on the water. Always have enjoyed our meals here. 5 of us this time and all were happy. Conch fritters were a hit at the table and we had a variety of entrees that everybody enjoyed..
Horrific experience. Do not go.
Both my wife and I had the mahi dinner. Mine blackened, her’s as the menu selection. The serving size was about 2x4 ins. It was so tough and dry it was hard to cut even with a knife and even more difficult to chew. Totally lacked any flavor.
2 nights prior I had the same dish at another restaurant. The fish was prepared perfectly. It was tender and delicate with great flavor. Oh, and no knife required.
We had been going to Capts H’s for 5 or so years about 2-3x per month. That has changed. We have found the quality of the food has declined over the past year.
Very nice evening. Too noisy but an excellent view.
While server was quite busy, we had to ask for more drinks, but all bills were correct & server was personable. Good value for food ordered.
The location is fantastic, but the food is bland. I’veneverbeenhere but people rave about it. I’m thinking it’s the drinks.
While the location is unique, the food and service don't quite match it. Most of what is offered is fried offerings, though they do have a few raw bar type items. Service was, at times, slow though it was friendly. I wound up having a fried platter (I thought I could get it grilled), and while the shrimp and scallops were very nicely done, the fish was nearly inedible. Side dishes were plentiful, and I went with cole slaw that was too sweet by a ton. Drink selections were also good and, at least in our cases, strong.
Great location, great drinks. Enjoyed our waiter very much. Food was just ok, by who cares. Location, location, location.
There was ten of us... our waitress was very good. Food was outstanding 👍🏻.... we all had fun. My son and his wife were visiting from New York they had fun . Can’t wait to come again
