Blackfinn Ameripub - Mt. Prospect Ratings and Reviews
Pretty slow Sunday evening... and the service was very slow too. Waiter was friendly but served our drinks and then disappeared. We waited quite a while to place our dinner order. That said the food was good and we were promptly seated using our Open Table reservation.
Was a birthday celebration with 8 people. Waitress never said anything about it. I had the grilled fish taco, worse I have ever had. Was dry and cold, didn’t want to make a scene since it was our daughters birthday. Comments about the fries from others was they tasted like fry cakes you get at carnivals. Guess all in all was not a good night.
I have been going to Blackfinn for 4 years when I moved to Mount Prospect. The food and atmosphere has been generally real good but this visit was terrible! Our waitress came to our table 4 times in 90 minutes. Totally unacceptable. Never asked how our food was. Water glasses remained empty until I had to get up and ask for a refill from the waitress. The food was horrible! The flatbread pizza was real dry, like it had been sitting in the heat lamps for hours. My chicken wrap sandwich came and it was slapped on a plate with dry steamed broccoli. No garnish. Not anything. It was cold, dry and had no flavor so I waited about 10 minutes for the busboy to stroll by and I finally asked him for some ranch dressing.
We had finally finished our meals and the waitress walked up, grabbed my empty plate, and walked away. That was it. I had to ask her for coffee and a dessert menu. Once I drank my coffee the cup stayed empty and cold for another 10 minutes. I had to request a refill.
This restaurant needs to take a serious look at their staff and chef. 2 stars out of five is generous. It's really gone downhill. Not so sure I would ever come back.
coffee was served luke warm at best
medium cooked burger was way too rare.
had to ask frequently to bring several items that were on our order.
no comparison to our first dinner at BlackFinn.
we enjoy going there but it just didn't do it for us ...this time!!
The server was great until she got slammed with tables. They seemed a little short staffed for a Saturday night. I had the chicken & avocado salad. Red peppers are not listed in the ingredients on the menu, so I had to eat around them due to a dietary restriction. It was my first so-so experience here. Normally this place is very good. Next time I'll stick to what I know, the balbo sandwich.
they need to hire a new head chef at the mt.prospect location.the breaded walleye and honey just tasted bad.The rice with red peppers tasted like something from the 80's.My wife had the macaroni and cheese dish it came to the table with no cheese sauce in it.And I think that is the way they serve it.The server was very prompt but didn't ask how are food was.what a disappointing meal.
Its a great place to stop in for a bite to eat. I've been there several times and have always enjoyed the food. There are TV's throughout the bar area, which is nice when there is a sporting event going on. Service is good and plenty of seating at the bar too.
Reserved a table a day before for 6 for my sister's birthday. No table was set for 6 when we got there. But, not crowded at all. Food was fair. No special dessert presentation for a birthday. At least a candle in the top of the "Avalanche" that we ordered could have made it a little special. Service was lacking. Refill the water in the glasses would be nice.
Food was terrific as usual and our waiter, Jeremy, was very accommodating. After being seated, we were contacted by our friends saying they were delayed by the incoming storm. Jeremy completely understood and suggested appetizers and drink specials while we waited. We never felt rushed and were probably there for 2 hours. Our entrees ranged from a large salad, to shrimp & grits to bacon wrapped meatloaf so we covered the menu and all dishes were prepared perfectly. So glad Blackfinn is near and we can make reservations for a Friday evening.
