The poor server has the entire bar area to cover and it was busy. We were late to our movie because of how slow service was. Food was good. House Chardonnay was not good. They did replace it. Chicken Parmesan sliders great.
We love Blackfinn and have been here several times. Foods always delish!!
Went for my bday w my family and parents. The food was good, however it took almost 30 min which is almost double the time from prev dinning experiences there. Worst of all is that we ordered a PBJ for my 15 month old son and it was brought out LAST. We were all done eating when they brought it out. After we said we didn't want it they didn't even offer to leave it anyway. They did take it off the bill but we had to seek out the mgr afterwards. He was very nice and did give us money for our next meal. I will make sure I go on a less busy day IF I ever even go again. No more weekend trips here!
The cheesecake was dry; overall bad. Stir fry ok but very salty. Other parties enjoyed the jambalaya and slides.
Always a fun spot to go. The bar area is always our choice. Great food, portions are a little smaller than before
Went with a friend just before a movie and to celebrate her birthday (nothing fancy expected though).
I had sent a note with my OpenTable reservation specifically notifying them that it was her birthday and asking that they bring a non-chocolate desert after we eat. They did great! Fresh strawberries with cheescake and a candle, and NO embarrassing fan fare! Thank you!!!!
The only thing I did not like was the blue lemon martini on the special menu. Had a funny after-taste.
The staff are great. The food is always good. Love going here before movies or to watch games in the bar area.
We've eaten here several times always enjoy the food. Our waitress was distracted , didn't really care about taking care of her tables and had to search her out several times. Unfortunately we have had her as our waitress a couple of other visits.
Always dependable my go to restaurant with friends everyone is happy with menu. The bar area is great for sports also great beer selection
Good upscale pub food in a fun and happening spot. Quality service from a happy staff.
Enjoyed a meal in the bar area per our request. Both wine and beer menu were good. Burgers were very good. Fish tacos were also good. Large menu variety. Enjoyed a nice meal.
Food was fair
Ordered a kale and spring green salad and received romaine. Food is normally average but this visit was a let down. Taking a break from here for awhile.
This restaurant is going down hill fast!!! Staff shortages are causing slow service, portion sizes for some dishes have diminished. A few items on the menu are not well prepared or just plain sloppy. The greeting staff is pleasant and helpful. The cleanliness of the place is significantly less than in years past. It seems like that the manager has lost interest in providing high quality service and food that we have come to expect due to past performance. We are very disappointed with the way this restaurant is going. It would not surprise us to see it go out of business in the next three to six months.
The menu has a nice variety. Food came relatively quickly and was hot.
Had the chicken stir fry which was very salty. Overall experience was good.
Dinner was so so today!
Food was fine, we were happy with our meals. We were seated quickly. Overall service was very slow and our server never came back to check on us after food was delivered. We also had to seek her out in order to get our check, after waiting with two antsy kids for 15 minutes or so after we finished our meals. My husband physically got up and was looking through the restaurant to find her for our check.
Typically bar food and atmosphere.. Some how our table got taken, so we ended up waiting a bit longer for table, and seating in the bar instead of the dining room, since we asked for first available at that point. They comp'd us an appetizer. Food was just okay.. Kitchen was very busy, so a bit slow... But typical American bar food, not a bad place, just not memorable.
This was a dinner reservation. Five people dined there. Two were adults. Three were children. Food was mediocre and overpriced.
Ice cold beers, great food, awesome service. Would recommend
Our server seemed inexperienced but he tried hard to please. Bar service to our table was very slow in filling drink orders. The entrees arrived before the appetizer so our server cancelled it from the bill. There was nothing special about the food and the portions were only average. Overall the experience was only fair which is sad because I would really like this restaurant to be better.
I had the roasted vegetable flat bread, delicious. ALSO the kale quinoa salad, everyone at the table enjoyed their food.
We stopped in for a quit dinner before going to a movie. large bar with lots of table and seats around the bar. Food was good. We will go back!
Blackhawks game was on
Pretty slow Sunday evening... and the service was very slow too. Waiter was friendly but served our drinks and then disappeared. We waited quite a while to place our dinner order. That said the food was good and we were promptly seated using our Open Table reservation.
Went for bottomless mimosas during Sunday brunch. Great food and good service.
Was a birthday celebration with 8 people. Waitress never said anything about it. I had the grilled fish taco, worse I have ever had. Was dry and cold, didn’t want to make a scene since it was our daughters birthday. Comments about the fries from others was they tasted like fry cakes you get at carnivals. Guess all in all was not a good night.
Service was terrible and the food was cold! Usually a good experience but not this time! Will not go back for acehile
Food quality vs value has dropped considerably since the opening...
Had lunch with a friend... food was excellent!
Stayed at Hampton Inn down the block so walked over. Food was awesome. Spring rolls were fresh and filling and the ahi entree was excellent. Pleasantly surprised.
SinceI'm not a drinker, I cannot advise about the Bar but for the past 4 or 5 years friends and I have celebrated New Year's Eve at the Black Finn - early not there for the champaign at midnight but we go back every year.
I went New Year’s Eve around 8:30. The French Onion Soup was fabulous but the rest of the food (consensus of all in party) was average at best. The service was very slow and the restaurant was not very crowded. I wouldn’t go back.
Good, friendly, service, good well prepared food and quiet. Will do it again!
I have been going to Blackfinn for 4 years when I moved to Mount Prospect. The food and atmosphere has been generally real good but this visit was terrible! Our waitress came to our table 4 times in 90 minutes. Totally unacceptable. Never asked how our food was. Water glasses remained empty until I had to get up and ask for a refill from the waitress. The food was horrible! The flatbread pizza was real dry, like it had been sitting in the heat lamps for hours. My chicken wrap sandwich came and it was slapped on a plate with dry steamed broccoli. No garnish. Not anything. It was cold, dry and had no flavor so I waited about 10 minutes for the busboy to stroll by and I finally asked him for some ranch dressing.
We had finally finished our meals and the waitress walked up, grabbed my empty plate, and walked away. That was it. I had to ask her for coffee and a dessert menu. Once I drank my coffee the cup stayed empty and cold for another 10 minutes. I had to request a refill.
This restaurant needs to take a serious look at their staff and chef. 2 stars out of five is generous. It's really gone downhill. Not so sure I would ever come back.
Great food and good service. Always have a good experience when we eat here.
Always a pleasure to visit. Never a bad meal. Great service.
Excellent food and great prices. This is not a fancy place very casual but the menu has a lot to offer and at a great value, I can't wait to come back and try more items on that menu.
Ohio / Wisconsin game
We booked a table for 4, including our 3 year old and 1 year old. Turns out there was a private party and the only tables available were high tops in the bar....couldn’t accommodate a high chair or booster seat. Not the most family friendly.
