Blackbrick Chinese & Dim Sum
Spicy or mild - where this place hits the spot is on flavor. The servers were very knowledgeable about the menu and asked about your preferences (including any allergies) prior to ordering, we got recommendations for drinks without prompting and felt taken care of every step of the way. This is definitely a place we will return.
Decided to try blackbrick for dinner while I visited Miami with my family. Based on the great reviews I had high hopes but I was really let down, mainly because of the service. The server took a while to show up at our table, the food came out slowly and they took quite a long time to take the dirty dishes away. The saving grace is that the food quality is really good. I had the platter which was delicious, the spicy dumplings, and bao which were both yummy. But overall this restaurant is much too overpriced. The Singapore noodles was delicious but $26 for one portion is much too expensive even for Miami. I enjoyed the food but I don’t think I may ever go back again based on the service and value for price.
Great food the fried egg rolls , ribs and dumplings all excellent. Friendly staff . We shared dishes and liked the fact they came one at a time as obviously cooked freshly.
Only issue was they forgot our last dish so gave us the bill before we pointed out the error. They immediately apologised, offered to bring it but as we were full we didn’t need it .
Would definitely go again
Overall great. Only downside - gets way too hot with open kitchen. Perhaps more ac vents?
Very friendly and attentive staff. The server was helpful describing menu items. We started with the fried chicken wontons and the pork and shrimp dumplings. The dumplings were traditional dim sum style and very tasty, especially after adding a bit of soy sauce. The fried chicken dumplings were somewhat dry and needed sauce. I added chili and hot mustard. For entrees we ordered honey bacon chicken and the orange peel beef. Honey chicken was standard, with the bacon a nice touch and fresh scallions on top. A little short on sauce. The orange peel beef was tasty and spicy, also a bit try but enough sauce to ladle some onto the plentiful white rice. The beef also is served with two nice pieces of bok choy. Next time I’ll pass on the fried chicken and add a vegetable. Overall a great neighborhood Chinese spot with some fun and interesting menu items. A tad pricey.
Vegan Options :)
Excellent Chinese food if you like eclectic, Asian fusion. I saw an episode that featured the head chef and was looking forward to trying the restaurant. The menu is limited but all the items were excellent.
I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with the food. The veggie egg roll was great but the dinner entrees were average for the price
It was amazing! Best Chinese food around
Just a few blocks from the center of Miami's Design Center this restaurant is an easy walk and nice lunch break away from the long lines and expensive lunches in the Design Center. We wanted Dim Sum and they have a decent selection, we tried 6 and they were all pretty tasty. The place is small and elbow room is at a premium but we enjoyed the late lunch and the Dim Sum selection
Excellent food and service
Being the sister restaurant of Sakaya Kitchen (which is fantastic) I was really excited to try this restaurant. The menu is reads as very interesting and eclectic but falls flat on delivery. No depth of flavor any any of the dishes. From the curried noddles to the beef noodles or the shrimp & scallop dim sum. Service was a whole other issue all together. Our server forgot to put in our appetizer order and so we didn’t receive any food until about 30 minutes after being seated. We did get apologies but no comps for the wait. I suggest, skip this place and go to Sakaya instead.
Great dim sum!!! We need this place in naples😃
Amazing. The food was unbelievable. Certainly modern Chinese. The menu was incredible. I cannot wait to go back and try something else. Dan Dan noodles were kick-butt!
Black Brick is amazing! Went for the first time to celebrate my birthday and it did not disappoint. The cocktail list is pretty small and a little pricey but they're all so good it's worth it. I'd highly recommend the pork buns and General Tso Gator, both are phenomenal. It's a small place and definitely fills up fast but it's cozy and inviting.
Food was good as per usual. Ordered too much and w/ portions can usually be more conservative with number of orders. outside seating much less crowded feeling and less noise. Only issue w/ that is the heat emanating from restaurant next store.
Best Asian food that I have ever experienced. Ribs, dumplings and orange steak were great. A place not to be missed when you are in town.
I’ve come to Black Brick several times since Midtown is my neighborhood. It deff is the go-to place for quality Chinese! I went with two friends. The service this time was FAIR for the fact, being a Sunday night, the waiter only came to us three times throughout the whole meal. He didn’t check to see how we were and we refilled the water ourselves from taking one off the bar since it was close to the table, which was fine! I recommend this place to eat, don’t expect stellar service.
Saw episode of Diners drive Ins and dives featuring this restaurant ! The food did not disappoint . Wonderful evening.
I love black brick - it’s always delicious - it’s a must go to if visiting Miami
Way too loud! Couldn’t hear diners next to me.
Very Szechuan style Chinese. Spicy dishes. If you like spicy and shellfish this is excellent.
My husband and have loved blackbrick since we first went in about 2014-2015 and we’d always order the same dish. The mala chicken noodles (spicy dish btw) and to our dismay it was no longer on the menu but we asked if it could be ordered anyways and surprise surprise we got our noodles!!
The food looked better on Diners Drive in and Dives than it actually is. Service was quite slow even at 3pm and the restaurant didn’t seem all that busy. I am Chinese and I would say if you are truly looking for ethnic Sichuan Chinese food, this may not be what you are looking for.
Visiting the Miami FL area with my group of 5, we had a great meal at Blackbrick. With the chilly weather last week, our reservation was key as there was no outdoor seating available. We were seated promptly while other walk-ins needed to wait. The 2 vegetable choices we made, green beans and cauliflower, were both delicious. We also ordered 4 entrees for 5 people. 3 of them came out while 1 didn’t. The waiter apologized after realizing this but we really didn’t need another entree. 3 entrees for 5 people with a few veggies / apps is plenty. A great meal. Thank you.
Celebrating Chinese Winter Solstice.
Delicious Chinese Chinese. We loved everything we ordered. Would definitely go back. Only disappointment was that they were out of egg rolls- both kinds. Hard to understand how a Chinese restaurant runs out of egg rolls.
The food is overpriced and simply not good. We ordered the fried chicken dumplings and after eating two dumplings, I looked inside and saw to my horror that the chicken inside was completely raw - pink and translucent! The manager did not come to exuse himself and explain the mistake and we just told our waiter we were leaving. Would not recommend at all.
The best was to describe Blackbrick is YUMMY!!! I was sad when dinner was over. Loved everything we tried!
Excellent creative food. Would recommend and return
If you like great tasting chinese food this is the place to visit, so much that you must get there early if you want to enjoy the best dishes in the menu as they can run out of them quickly do to the number of people that visit this restaurant. Really great food, you won't be disappointed.
I had to give a star for food to be able to post this review but as I never rated any. Who knows. After 40 minutes we got up and left. The chef who I asked why other people were getting food before us, was completely unconcerned. He shrugged. SHRUGGED! and said he had only one burner. The place was not full. About 5 tables. The worst part was that I had planned this trip 2 months ago and made time for a visit to BlackBrick. Complete disappointment.
An over priced pf changs. The service was massively rushed, the general tsos crocodile tasted like fried batter soaked in sugar sauce, the dan dan noodles were undercooked, the chilled cucumbers and radish salad was just a blocky chopped up cucumber in a bowl of soy sauce. So disappointed i was in shock. If you are expecting a more authenticate taste or an interesting fusion place then find somewhere else. I will never come back.
Food was good. But the restaurant itself was extremely hot and smelly. The inside ventilation is nonexistent. You come out smelling like the food! Nasty 🤢
Food was amazing, service was horrible.
BLACKBRICK was recommended to us by friends who eat there regularly. We really liked it. We went there with an out-of-town friend; it was super.
The atmosphere was exciting, the wait staff were informed and so warm. The food was super!!
My boyfriend previously saw Blackbrick featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Though we were staying in a hotel that featured a world class restaurant we decided to try Blackbrick during our visit. I had shrimp and cilantro dumplings and the vegetable fried rice. The dumplings were whole pieces of shrimp and cilantro steamed to perfection. The rice had just the right amount of spice. The couple dining beside us had the Cantonese lobster, which allows have to try on my next visit. I also loved the casual and cozy environment.
Menu is nice.. if you’re looking for traditional Dim sum this is not the place. The Sake $ are way too high. If you sit inside please be aware they need to update the ventilation system, the restaurant gets very, very smoky and you stink all day after. Service is great!
You have to update the information!! I went there for Brunch and they had stopped serving brunch months ago. The Brunch menu was still on Opentable and when I looked on their website it was like they had stopped feeding their website or it was all mixed up with their other rest and food truck.
Great place. Love the menu and service is excellent. Go eatly it gets crowded
