We were there on the prefect day, as it was their 5th year anniversary and featured a 5 course menu carefully curated by the executive chef. Excellent way to end a day of hiking in the Rockies.
When we went the only two steaks they had left were a 34oz. New York for $200+ and an 8oz sirloin. The NY was out of range for size and cost so we reluctantly ordered the sirloin...and it was fantastic. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked, almost fork-tender and elevated so far beyond the typical sirloin that they should name it something else. The rest of the meal (starters, salad, sides) were solid additions and did a nice job of supporting the meat but they aren't reasons to go. The steak, however, is.
Outstanding. Have been here multiple times and it is delicious each time. Everything on the menu is so tasty and the service is always top notch.
We have been here may times. The food, service, ambiance is on point! This one of our favorite places.
Excellent food and really fantastic service but way too loud.
This is an experience I would love to have again and again. Quality food, service and you know where your food comes from. This place is simply amazing! Great for special occasions or if you just want to treat yourself!
Everything was great except for the food. Everyone s food was way too salty. ( scallops in particular)There was too much going on on the plate. Sometimes simple is best! The potatoes were crispy but soaked I
N too much oil.one of the worst meals I’ve had here. Glad it was t my first time.
lamb special was not as good everything else amazing.
Our go to Birthday spot! Loved the oysters for apps and soup as well as the deserts
Excellent meal! Great steaks, burratta & Octopus apps fantastic, superior service from Samantha
The lamb was very tough. I told the server. No adjustments to the bill but apologies were made. The NY steal was the very best ever unbelievable!!! Such a creative presentation. Love this place so disappointed in how they handled my complaint.
The restaurant is very noisy and we had to raise our voices to be able to have a conversation. We ordered 2 items from the happy hour menu but we got charged full price menu. The NY steak was chewy and ordinary but it costs 54$. Everything else was very salty. I have been to Blackbelly before and I enjoyed their food but this time it was a major disappointment and I will not be back any time soon.
One of the greatest hacks of the glory of Blackbelly, is coming for happy hour before the bustle of the restaurant has began. The servers are always exceptional, but its a fun experience to talk a little bit more, and engage with the staff. Especially if you are sitting at the counter -- the line chefs are incredible and always so friendly. It always enhances the experience and makes it continually feel like an up twist of your favorite local neighbor place.
I have never been disappointed with Blackbelly, and even in a snow storm things were top notch!
Great place! Food & service was on point!! It is expensive though. But no regrets!
Great food with lots of variety, service was on point and great vibe overall!
This is obviously a super popular and very busy place. Unfortunately as often happens, when a restaurant is very busy the staff becomes unpleasant, stuck-up and bullying to the paid guests. We arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation (to a 75% empty restaurant) and were told they were unable to seat us unless we took 2 less than desirable seats by the window (dirty, covered with half dead flies window). When we told them we would come back at our original reservation time that apparently didn't work for them either - we would STILL have to sit at the 2 seats by the window. Host AND hostess were both patronizing, unpleasant and super rude. Since eating here was a ticky-mark on our list of places we wanted to try we decided to make the best of it. Assuming that the front door staff was just untrained, we were surprised when our server was also nasty, barely keeping from rolling his eyes when my husband asked him questions. Food was very good, especially the steak and the rotisserie chicken w/AWESOME mushroom bread pudding and we would have enjoyed it except for the poisonous atmosphere. Decent atmosphere, although very dark in the interior. Took forever to get drink refills and our check - we had to use the standing up and getting ready to go to get it. When we left, restaurant was still about 30% empty so we COULD have sat at a decent table. While food was good, it was not worth the effort - MEH.
Celebrated our Fourth Wedding Anniversary. To our surprise, we will be dining here regularly!
Amazing as usual! Danielle, our server, was so kind and knowledgeable. Blackbelly made our anniversary experience unforgettable. Thank you again and i will definitely be going back soon.
Excellent menu and food. Unfortunately our food was sitting under the warmer for several minutes. When served it was warm at best not hot. To their credit however they comped the main course. I would definitely give them a second chance. Food quality excellent though.
Took my family to Blackbelly the other night. The service was superb and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed their version of carpaccio!
We celebrated a birthday at Blackbelly, and the experience could not have been better. We feared, based on photos (cement and brick dining room), that the room would be loud and we wouldn't be able to talk, but the ambience was actually very welcoming and the noise level was not a problem. The service was outstanding: even though half of our group had car trouble and the servers had to wait a good while for us order, the waiter responded with patience and consideration. He was knowledgeable and helpful with the food and drink selections. The servers showed tact and professionalism in the removal of finished plates and glasses: members of the party were not left with an empty place mat while others were still eating. We were not hugely impressed with the cabernet or the syrah/granache wines by the glass, but enjoyed the Cinsault rosé. The charcuterie trio was delicious, though overpriced in our opinion. The apple and turnip soup was the best thing of the night. The bread- always a good indicator of the quality of the restaurant - was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, though my squid in ink with sopressata left a sour taste. Because we overindulged we had no appetite left for the birthday cake, but the waiter brought us a complimentary delicious and generous piece of carrot cake with caramelized pecan bits with a candle in a take-home box - very considerate and much appreciated final touch to a memorable evening.
Great! Favorite place to go when we visit our son.
Four of us had dinner. They have an eclectic menu based on local fresh farm products. Small plates shared by all is recommended
Overall, a terrrific experience. The cheese plate was pretty skimpy for the price and the kitchen could improve on the presentation of the cheese plate. That withstanding, our table of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The service was excellent and our server (can't remember her name) was so accomodating. ALso Geoff Barrett is always so welcoming....a true professional with a personable and old school style of making guests feel so relaxed.
Homecoming for National Guard soldiers, from a deployment in Afghanistan. Staff were so welcoming and took good care of us!
By far the most inventive restaurant in Boulder. Servers truly know the menu and can explain all dishes. We greatly enjoy sitting at the kitchen bar and watching the activity.
The food was amazing! We sat at the chef's counter and watched them work their magic. We were a little surprised when we received the bill... the market price of the steak we ordered was substantially more than we thought, but we must have misunderstood or misheard the server who explained the menu. There was a lot of background noise at the time. Considering the high quality of the food and the enthusiasm of the chefs as they worked, I was OK with the bill. We will continue dining at Blackbelly whenever we are in the mood for a fine dining experience. Thank you!
Another perfect meal at Blackbelly. Forgive me if I sound like a broken record, but Blackbelly just doesn’t make mistakes. My dinner was fabulous from start to finish. Interspersed with friendly conversation sitting at the chefs counter where the kitchen crew makes me feel like I’m home, I documented this one well and have pictures of each course. Started with a Jose Andres-esc amuse with pickled peach and some kinda foam. Very nice.
Then I had the chef’s choice consisting of one meat and one cheese. The meat was a beautiful dried salami (the precise name escapes me) and a delicious manchego cheese. Just beautiful. I also had a petite size salad with it. How come I can’t make salad dressing like that?
Next I had what now will be something I will order whenever I go there, it was that delicious— was the Sopressini. This magnificent combination of charred eggplant, huitlacoche, black truffle, red corn, parmesan all in Squid Ink. I’m not sure I’ve ever had anything that tasted better in my mouth, in my life!
For the main course I had a fantastic lamb chop. Served on a bed of creamed corn. It was perfectly charred and had the most beautiful flavor. I really loved it.
I went with the S’mores pie and coffee for dessert. I also had a glass of the Baltimore Rainwater Madeira in memory of Elijah Cummings, I raised a toast to a toast to a great American Leader. It was one of my favorite nights at Blackbelly. But they all are. Guess this one was a touch bitter sweet. - - I’ll miss you Anika. Best of luck in the next chapter of your life. I know you’ll do good friend.
Really appreciated the detailed descriptions of the amazing cheeses and butcher cuts! Server really knew his stuff. Delicious as always!
Terrific restaurant! Has to be one of the top restaurants in Boulder and greater Denver. We requested the "ciunter" seating that overlooks the kitchen and that was a great experience. We asked lots of questions, learned a lot and had fun. Every food item was great and the service and timing were perfect.
The food at Blackbelly lives up to its promise of farm to table and whole animal utilization. We are the pigs ears and the burrata as our small plates and they were perfectly prepared and balanced. For larger courses we enjoyed the burger and roasted chicken. The roasted chicken breast was a tad dry but still very flavorful and the skin was perfectly browned. The burger was perfectly seasoned and prepared with thick cut bacon and cheddar. I highly recommend and will be returning.
Our favorite date night place exceeded expectations once again ❤️ service and food cannot be beat, plus we love the chefs counter.
Pricey but excellent.
Great food, great service! Sat at the counter and had great conversation with the chefs
Wonderful food, amazing service, comfortable ambiance! An excellent choice if you like supporting local farms and enjoying quality products for a very reasonable price.
My wife and I went to Blackbelly Market before going to a movie at the Boe, so it was an early dinner. We told our waitress that and she made sure we got out of there in time to make the movie. Because of time restraints we skipped appetizers and desert, thought the rest of the meal was delicious. My wife had the half roasted chicken and I had the pork loin. The chicken was moist and tasty and nicely presented. The pork loin was simply delicious, beautifully done and with excellent sides. (I have to say I wasn't crazy about the bits of hard rice that were in the sauce, but that may just be me. I'd definitely order the dish again in a second!) My wife had a mixed drink (The New Pollution?) which she liked a lot, and I had a couple glasses of a very nice Rose, which went well with the pork. The service, as always, was excellent. It's fairly noisy at Blackbelly, but it's a happy noise - just a lot of happy people enjoying their meals.
By far, my most amazing dining spot in Boulder! The food flavors and textures of everything I ordered was outstanding. Will be back here for sure.
Charcuterie plate was highly disappointing. About 1/4 of my NY strip was sinew I would cut off before cooking. Waiter was extremely awkward (long pauses where he would stare at us), bus staff was very nice. Way too $$ for what we experienced.
Excellent. They take pride in their food and service and it shows!
Just moved to Boulder. This was the first restaurant I visited... I don't think that I will be able to top this experience. Blackbelly set the bar really high. Awesome food, attentive staff, A+.
