Hands down, the best pork chops we've ever had in our lives. And we're in our 60s. This is our 2nd time back to have the pork chops. AMAZING
Our server knew we were on a time frame and he was very understanding. It was the perfect place for before prom.
We had the tuna tartare, halibut, a seafood broth bowl (can't remember the name) and mango/basil dessert...all were very very good.
Great atmosphere, very Portland artsy -- Lovely and fanciful -- We had a very nice dinner for two with desert and three glasses of wine between us for $100 -- The lady who seated us was new, I think, and gave us the wrong menu. Another waitress had to come back and give us the proper menu. When we asked them to turn down the 60s easy-listening music a bit, they were very accommodating. High marks for keeping us happy.
Great salads, but the pork chop was dry! Disappointing menu, lacking options. Availability of menu items seem to dwindle as the night went on. By 7:30 pm they were out of two of the seven entrees. Bummer.
I took friends who were visiting Portland from the East Coast because I knew the food would be good and I was right! We loved everything but maybe the Bloody Marys best! It was a treat for these art teachers to see the amazing property with all of the wonderful paintings!
Very attentive and accommodating host and wait staff. We had a large party with several folks with disabilities and we couldn't have felt more welcome. Thank you SO much for the memorable meal!
The food was amazing! I had a Chioppino that rivaled the one I had at Matt's in the Market earlier this year. Our server was fantastic, food superb, and cocktails divine!
Awesome food and experience
Great food and cocktails. Kind of ho-hum atmosphere and service. Not bad, just not anything special. We went for our wedding anniversary which I noted on the reservation. The maître d did say "happy anniversary" as we entered but we didn't even get offered a free dessert. Fussy baby close by didn't help the ambience. Food prices are a bit high so service should be a bit higher level.
I love Black Rabbit restaurant! I love that so many of the ingredients are local, and even from on-site.
Food was pretty tastless, nothing special on the menu. The poached eggs in the morning were overcooked and hard which really ruined the meal
Excellent steak: flavor and presentation were fantastic. We had a great time!
Our sever Matt was incredibly knowledgeable , helpful and hilarious .
good morning, my name is Dan Tendollen and am deaf.. My wife and I enjoyed our breakfast at Black Rabbit Restaurant. Our foods are delicious. Our waiter are excellent. We will love to come back some day..
Thanks,
Dan Tendollen
The waiter was fantastic and very so helpful. He suggested an excellent Edgefield wine. The food was delicious. I liked that we weren't rushed.
Hey guys that was actually supposed to be an 8:30 breakfast reservation on Saturday Jan 27. No wonder they couldn’t find our name the night before when we went to confirm the time! We made a new reservation and had a great breakfast. Loved our server.
Our service was okay. Spuratic and not very helpful with the small child we had in our group. Food was good and atmosphere was nice.
The chicken dinner is to die for!!! Lighting is a little dark, but noise level is quiet. Server wasn't very attentive, but all in all, a very good dinner! We will be back!
This was our first time at the Black Rabbit and we were very impresed. The food was delicious and definitely worth its price. The environment was nice and quite. We went at night and they had candles out and the lighting was nice and dim. Service was exceptional. We are coming back for sure.
The rib eye was great. The food is tops. Worth checking out
food expensive ...not really very good...loud atmosphere...service average...more a bar then restaurant
Went for our anniversary and had a fantastic meal with great service !
The Black Rabbit is a lovely, warm top notch restaurant. I love bringing Family and friends to explore the beautiful grounds, the unique, artful settings and a most interesting piece of Oregon History. You can also catch a movie, live music and many other amenities while there. A very special place with excellent service.
The service was incredible. The ambiance was excellent especially for a Holiday meal. The food was very good. I highly recommend the Black Rabbit.
Our server was great and very friendly! Our experience was great and the food was amazing, will for sure come back!
I go to Black Rabbit fairly often and always enjoy my times there. The food is excellent, the service adequate though slow at times, the ambiance really fun.
Great ambiance and excellent food. Had dinner with four friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
I booked a reservation for seven of us girls for lunch. The service was fantastic. Nice selection on menu..Most of us ate their adult cheese sandwich with unexpected ingredients. Delicious!
Salads were beautiful also. McMennimens Edgefield is a beautiful place. Daytime casual is great but the dining room feels very special with its ambiance and decor. We will return.
Our food was delicious and prepared exactly as requested. Our service was great!!!
Outstanding meal and service in beautiful historic setting. Wild boar and cioppino exceptional. Beer as always excellent.
Had Thanksgiving dinner in the Barley Room would have a rated a 5 but we were dive bombed by some kind of fruit flies or gnats and I pulled at least 8 of them out of my glass of wine and smooshed a bunch on the table. Kind of ruined dinner.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Arrived, seated immediately. Friendly greeting. Server was just ok. Took her a while to get my glass of wine when the food arrived I had to wait. Was ok. Only stopped by once to check on us. All of this ok, I don’t like to be fussed over or interrupted often. I was a bit confused why the restaurant called me twice before today to confirm I was still going to show up for my reservation? They said they had a long wait list but..... there were lots of empty tables.
food was very mediocre this time cold hard bacon hair in my food - was replaced but still...
Food was delicious! Great service. Very charming place.
We enjoyed another great lunch here. The food (and vibe) is more creative than ever!
We went on a Sunday at 6 pm and the dining room was almost empty. It took 35 minutes for the food to arrive and no sight of the waitress . When it was finally delivered the food was barely warm. We suspect the plates just sat around .
The slow cooked wild boar was delicious. The Halibut dish at $34 was a rather small portion for the price. Halibut is in season right now at $20/lb from one of the top markets in Portland.
It was very good. We were able to carry on a conversation as the noise level was good. The service and food was excellent.
Their food is always delicious, and I am pretty sure I was given a free little brownie with a candle for my birthday, all my guests claim they didn't pay for it - which was super sweet- our waiter was great and it's always really fun. It is kind of spendy and there aren't that many options to not spend an arm and a leg - or at all, while their menu is usually good, there are only a handful of things to choose from.
Wonderful place. The wild boar was awesome! This is an upscale restaurant, but while worth the price.
