Black Rabbit Restaurant & Bar
The kitchen uses seasonal ingredients from Edgefield's own gardens, grown using organic methods.
Menu is too limited, prices too high for amount of food received
Dessert menu, too few items
Much better menu and choices at Power Station
We were looking for a good steak. They did not disappoint. Service was good and friendly. Open floor plan so noises kids could be a problem. Overall exelent experience.
This was our first experience at a McMenamins place and it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and very attentive. Nice that it was a casual atmosphere but didn’t skimp on quality. Will be going back for sure!
The food was average. Wine was good. Service was ok but very abrupt and unfriendly. Ambience good because it is an historic place.
I always love the Black Rabbit Restaurant. I love McMenamin's Edgefield. Walking around with a glass of wine in my hand. Watching people walk, listening to the kids laughter, enjoying the warmth and sun. Just a lovely place to be on any day, any time of year. The Black Rabbit has a lovely menu. Lots of great choices. Our waiter was wonderful. Made some suggestions, had great answers to our questions. One of my favorite places for a date night with hubby.
Staff was great. Pre concert so handy. Food is always mediocre and overpriced.
The food was really good. But it was my husbands birthday and there was nothing the Resturant did to acknowledge this special night. I was disappointed.
Lunch was delicious- crab roll wonderful. Breakfast not so much- had a salmon gravis- the bagel they put this on was old- hard as a rock. So happy with lunch, not happy with breakfast.
We had brunch, chicken fried over cooked, rock hard. French toast was excellent.
Very good service but still hungry after $70 meal for 2. The chicken has gotten even smaller laying on a small bed garnish
Everything was delicious, although a bit salty. Waitress was patient and very helpful. Dinner was enjoyed by all.
While this was not our first visit to McMenamin's Edgefield, it was our first time eating at the Black Rabbit. We were very pleased with all aspects of the restaurant and will definitely eat there again! We had dinner (me: roasted chicken; my wife: steak) and it was super delicious. Before that, we were greeted in a very friendly and warm manner by the Host, and our server was fantastic. He was very attentive, professional, and really knew how to take care of us in the best way possible. The next morning, we ate breakfast there (we stayed the night and the only place on that campus to have breakfast is the Black Rabbit), and the Eggs Benedict, sautéed potato chunks, chicken sausage, eggs, and everything else were superb! Great service overall, and we highly recommend this restaurant.
The fries were very greasy.
Great Food and Service.
The dining room was a bit under staffed. This was evident by the poor beverage service. I had to ask twice for a coffee refill which finally came 45 minutes after our arrival which was almost too late to enjoy. We were also never offered water refills even though our glasses were empty after a long wait for our breakfast. I don’t blame our server, she was slammed but management should staff properly or at least get out on the floor and help with refills and check check in on tables. Who is in charge?
Excellent breakfast. Lovely, quaint setting.
The service was great! I ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and enjoy it! My husband ordered the grilled salmon and it turned out a bit on the dry side. Had the dessert sampler....it was okay.
This is the third time I've been to the black rabbit. I honestly would not have eaten here have there been anywhere else to have breakfast at the hotel. My past experiences or not great. My partner and I each ordered the Edgefield breakfast which is eggs potatoes meet and toast. The eggs were fine. My potatoes were undercooked. My boyfriend did not enjoy the sausage. My begin was over peppered. The toast was the best part. When you're paying $13 a piece for breakfast seems like it should be better then what you can get at Denny's for $7.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary that evening. Service was beyond compare, and food was just as we ordered it-perfect. Great place to just hang out also.
overly greasy grilled cheese made it difficult to enjoy
Service, salads and apps were nice. Someone needs to check the chefs hand with the salt. The main dish was inedible due to the amount of salt.
We were disappointed in the service - pretty slow, didn’t have one of their signature beers - we will just go to the Power Station across the street next time
All was as I expected for Black Rabbit, except the drinks. It seems the Bar is either too busy or too small, as waiting 15 minutes for a beer or mixed drink seems the norm here. If they fix that they would move up a notch IMHO.
The food was good and the prices are reasonable. Our server was really good and it was a fun place to have lunch and then walk around!
We arrived early and the hostess was most gracious in seating us in a window booth which I requested. Prompt in taking orders. Decaf coffee Luke warm. Requested hot. Said she would make a new pot and when I asked to not have hot coffee put in a cold cup this rendering it warm the wait person laughed and said “Yeah, doesn’t make sense that we. Keep the cups next to the freezer. Food came. Worst eggs Florentine I have ever had. Muffin was soggy, food was not hot, egg was over cooked Ro the texture of medium boiled not poached. Friend thought her basted eggs under cooked. Coffee refilled for regular and when I asked for refill of decaf I was forgotten until bill presented. No inquiry on “how was breakfast”? Finally got a second cup of decaf.
Great place to eat!! Food was perfect, delicious dessert! Our waiter had great timing, no hovering. Very professional!
The food was excellent but the waitress seemed a bit overworked
Black Rabbit for us is perfect. Excellent cocktails and wine selection, we had wonderful fish and seafood options, beautiful and shareable desserts. excellent service, and a lovely environment.
It was a yearly meeting up with a couple of retired coworkers.
Wonderful anniversary meal great food service nice ambiance all excellent
We celebrated our 25th anniversary at The Edgefield and had dinner at The Black Rabbit. The food was wonderful and our server was knowledgable of the food and beverages, and obviously skilled at his job.
Now if only the guest seated next to us had bothered to cover his mouth when he sneezed...right in our direction. Ah well, not the restaurant's fault. He was an older man and clearly an ornery cuss of a person. Loud, rude, thank goodness he left before our food was served. The rest of the evening was wonderful.
We had an excellent dinner with excellent service in the table by the west window we had requested. Couldn't have been more pleasant.
We love going to the black rabbit. Great food and prices.
Black Rabbit is the restaurant for a fancy dining experience at McMenamins Edgefield. Food is delicious, service is wonderful, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Get the halibut if it's on the menu! Every time we've dined here (at least 10 times over several different trips), however, at least one dish at our table comes out incorrectly. Not "oh they forgot I said no onions and I have onions on my burger" incorrect. More like "I ordered the hummus plate and got a ceasar salad" incorrect (our latest experience). The servers are always so nice and willing to correct the dish. It's just become a running joke whenever we go. But go here if you're visiting McMenamins Edgefield! It's fantastic!
The food was excellent and there were some great choices. We all had sandwiches/burgers with fries for lunch. The turkey sandwiches and cheeseburger were outstanding and we really liked the fries too! Definitely, will come return.
My boyfriend and I had the tuna and the halibut. Both very flavorful and perfectly cooked! We were both impressed with the quality and our wonderful server. I would highly recommend.
We definitely enjoyed the food. I had bacon wrapped scallops and my wife had seared tuna. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and well presented. Our only criticism, despite it being a slow night with only a few occupied tables, was that we felt rushed. We had only finished half our salad before the entrees arrived. We were still eating our entrees when the waiter brought the dessert menu. We were still eating our desserts when the check was brought to the table. This was still well before closing time so a bit perplexing. Our server was great so I assume this was an issue for the kitchen.
Black Rabbit is great fun, and very good food. I think it does not live up to my memory when I first went there, it seemed the food was more cutting edge, richer, tastier, it seems more bland foodwise than it used to be. Service was great and the atmosphere is very good. I think 4 stars would be a good rating!
We always have their breakfast and it is NEVER a disappointment. Consistently delicious. I recommend!
We came for breakfast/brunch on a Monday and it was fabulous. Great food, quiet but still cozy (not dead) and wonderful service.
