We went on a Sunday at 6 pm and the dining room was almost empty. It took 35 minutes for the food to arrive and no sight of the waitress . When it was finally delivered the food was barely warm. We suspect the plates just sat around .

The slow cooked wild boar was delicious. The Halibut dish at $34 was a rather small portion for the price. Halibut is in season right now at $20/lb from one of the top markets in Portland.

Their food is always delicious, and I am pretty sure I was given a free little brownie with a candle for my birthday, all my guests claim they didn't pay for it - which was super sweet- our waiter was great and it's always really fun. It is kind of spendy and there aren't that many options to not spend an arm and a leg - or at all, while their menu is usually good, there are only a handful of things to choose from.

Mcmennimins is notorious for horrible food, even worse service. All they ever had going for them was cool, kitchy, hipster venues and good beer. Its well known their food is horrible, with the exception of Black Rabbit restaraunt. My wife and i had a 7pm reservation for our anniversary as we got married at Edgefield. Should have known something was up when we showed up for our 7pm, Friday night dinner reservation and the restaraunt was 3/4’s empty. We quickly found out why. After the hostess sat us, we sat in basically an empty restaurant for 10 mins before our server showed. We were seconds from leaving.... we order and appetizer and drinks. Well after our appetizer showed up, some guy came by and asked us if we wanted bread? Why ask? Just bring it... if i dont want it ill send it back and it really would have been nice to have bread right after we sat down not 30 mins into our meal well after our appetizer showed up at the table. Then (remember we sat for 10 mins in an empty restaurant) out orignal server came up and told us they were sending him home becuse they are slow and we’d have someone else. Ok.... so why 10 mins before a server shows if youre so slow? When our food came... my Halibut was burnt on the edges, raw in the center had had some sort of jelly on top the were trying to pass off as a demi glaze. My wifes salmon was beyond over cooked and dry. She, out of embarassment did not send it back. I sent mine back. We will never visit McMennimins of any sort ever again. The cost vs quality in food and service is embarassing. Too many other options in Portland to waste your time at a McMennimins.

Really great place to be able to make a reservation. Excellent service . Food is very good and fresh . The only issue is that portions are really small for the price and people in our party frequently leave not feeling full.

I come here for the rib eye steak. Always incredible. We love walking around the grounds after dinner in the summer. Was a bit worried about the Eagle Creek fire coming close to Edgefield and Troutdale but happy to see all are safe.

I've been to the Back Rabbit many times and couldn't complain about anything. However this visit was disappointing. Something was "off". The food was okay but just not up to BR's standards. The service was also okay, but as with the food it was just "off". I'm not taking the restaurant off my preferred list yet. Hoping this was just an off night and not what to expect in the future.

The food was surprisingly good. The setting is very interesting - the old Multnomah County poor farm. Ask your server to see the booklet about the history of the place. The service was a bit slow, but not unbearably so. The fact that the place was busy, plus the quality of the food made up for the slowness.

We were staying at the hotel and attending the evening concert when we had the opportunity to visit this restaurant. This is my 2nd time at this restaurant and I can say they were hitting on all cylinders tonight. The staff anticipated our needs, sharing plates, time crunch for the concert and even wine selections. This was definitely a high point for our visit to Edgefield besides the concert.

Big wedding weekend, and on a concert night, but 40 minutes for a cocktail when dining room was only half-full? When we left the table and went directly to the bar to actually get a drink, we saw wait staff getting diners their drinks as priority. Guess we didn't rate. Normally, dinner there has been very, very good.

Celebrated our 27 year wedding anniversary with a night at Edgefield which was absolutely wonderful including a magnificent meal at the Black Rabbit which we had one of the best Halibut dishes ever. The entire staff at Edgefield were first class, from the front desk to the pubs & restaurant, can't thank all of them enough for such a memorable stay. I took my fiancée for a birthday dinner. We went to the black rabbit and was pleasantly surpirsed. The server was superb and happy to help us. Genuinely seemed to know and love his food and drink. We ordered hogs head and monkey puzzle on the rocks. The drink and food came punctually and with good attitude. It felt very welcoming and certainly made the night setting so amazing.
The food was on point. I ordered halibut (absolutely delicious) and the chicken on the bone(Delicious and moist ).
We finished with hogs head whiskey sours. ( perfect blend of sour and sweet)
Overall very happy with the visit.

Visiting this restaurant is like a trip back in time to 1911 (the year of its major renovation). Food was excellent, and service was professional and classy. A bit on the eclectic side, but that's part of its charm.

All was excellent with the exception of the the wasabi, I think that maybe they forgot to put the wasabi in the sauce since it had absolutely no heat... more like green mayonnaise . I was shocked! We have been eating there since they opened many years ago and everything has always been excellent. I asked the server about it an she graciously brought me a small bowl, but it was also bland.

This was the second time we've eaten here, both times before a music concert, and that works out well. The last time we enjoyed our meal a lot. This time my vegetable tagine was very good, but my husband was really disappointed by the crab roll. It was crabmeat in a bread roll, and much more bread than crab, and too much spicy sauce. The menu wasn't very big, and all the other seafood items seemed pretty pricy.

The staff at the Black Rabbit & Bar were genuine and skilled at serving our party of four among an entirely full restaurant, and overflowing bar due to the sold out Pink Martini Concert. Our reservation was at 4:30 PM, and we were promptly seated and enjoyed a two-hour dining experience. The dinner menu was smaller than posted on the website, but the chef and kitchen staff had prepared a balance of meats, fish, vegetarian, sides, salads, and appetizers to accommodate our group. I have to compliment our wait-server on her food and drink suggestions she recommended. My chilled Ceasar Salad was the best, an ample amount of chilled romaine leaves, croutons, Parmesan cheese and an excellent, rich, anchovy dressing makes this salad a meal. My entree was roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and a fresh kale vegetable. The food portions were very generous. The chicken plate was a leg, thigh, and breast. The potatoes helping was about a 1 cup and the vegetables about 2/3 cup portions. Plenty of delicious hot food! During our meal, we all noted how quiet the restaurant was, even though it was filled with patrons and staff, we were able to hear ourselves converse and enjoy the dining experience. After dessert and coffee, we left satisfied and ready for the concert. My salad and entree were $32. I look forward to my return visit for a brunch or another dinner at The Black Rabbit Restuarant & Bar. Good job everyone taking care of us last Saturday evening.
