Only place to eat in sea ranch. Service was ok, menu was odd - flavor profiles seemed too fussy. Restaurant needs an update.
Food was awful and WAY overpriced! I had to ask 3 times for a high chair and we were the only 6 people in the restaurant...so the waitress was not busy with other tables.
Food was on point...Jennifer our server is a gem! The view was amazing and the food excellent.
We’ve been to Black Point Grill a bunch of times but this last time was a little disappointing. The menu choices were odd (strange pairings), they were out of the wine we wanted, and I indicated it was a birthday celebration but they did nothing special. The food was mediocre (cold, extra salty). The service was OK when we got there and then was really slow. So, I’m giving a three star rating and hope it improves next time we’re up that way.
Place is ambient and beautiful. At night no scenic views of course, but that's fine. Dinner was not that good. It was on the cold side and not that tasty or special. Not worth the money. Breakfast next day was very nice: tasty and beautiful scenic view. I would recommend this place for breakfast instead of dinner.
Fresh and light food with a great view. Our server Stephanie was excellent.
Restaurant ok, food on menu seems to use too many spices to make a point, & ends up the opposite
of what a good seafood restaurant could be. We usually dine early, and the sun was coming right in our faces. Thesheer shading was no help. I had to sit sideways, & friend had to keep brimmed hat on.

Being at Sea Ranch, we knew the restaurant would have a terrific view, but the food and ambience were also top notch. We ate here for 2 dinners and a breakfast -- and all were terrific, and the prices were fair. There were plenty of vegetarian/pescatarian options, and the atmosphere was casual and convivial too. We will come back again, even all the way from Seattle!
Did I mention the salmon with curry sauce and plantains? OMG the best salmon ever. Delicious and imaginative. The tuna tartare was exquisite. 5 stars to the chef! Service was great. I think the headwaiter's name was Brian. And he knows his wines!
We've been dining at the Sea Ranch Black Point Grill since 1981. It has gone through many changes over the years but it has always been a great destination restaurant with unparalleled ocean and sunset views. The current chef is superb. We haven't had a bad meal there. I recommend it highly for food and ambiance. Our server, Cody, couldn't have been more polite or accommodating

We truly love vacationing at The Sea Ranch. We have been to the restaurant several times. This was our Anniversary and noted that on our reservation. We were seated promptly. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer. Then things went down hill. The service was just not good. Our salad arrived and after a few bites our entrees arrived!
We asked them to hold the dishes in the kitchen and were told the fish would dry out. “How about having the rest of your salad after your entree in the European style” was the waitresses suggestion.
The fish was dry, the sauce - which was on the side- was overspiced and too hot to eat, the chicken edible but overspiced also.
Glasses of wine were offered and accepted as an apology.
The prices are high and as the food is not that good ( spotty, as we previously had a fine dinner there) yet the service is just plain amateurish and unacceptable.
If you are staying at the Lodge or renting one of the homes, it’s best to make other plans for dinner.
It was our Anniversary- not a word of congratulations from the staff!

Great location and good service. Food is not up to the price point. Slightly below average execution. More like what I would expect for 1/2 the price.

We went to the Black Point Grill while on our honeymoon on the Sonoma Coast. We were seated at an awesome table to watch the sun setting over the Pacific. Brian, the host, and Stephanie, our waiter, treated us like gold. The food was outstanding and each plate more delicious than the last. We had a bottle of a local cab and had the sweetest time chilling and watching the sunset while we dined.
We ate at approximatley 6pm on a friday evening. Ocean view was superb, including the eventual sunset. The menu was as extensive as we would desire. Each of us four had a different meal - every one of them superb, actually exemplary. The service by "Ivan" was friendly and excellent. Special touches such as dividing a large special salad into four was done easily and eagerly. These four meals were each topnotch. My steak and everything with it were perfect, as were all the meals. We have been there before, and we will eagerly return - please keep this gem of a restaurant open. There are not many restaurants in this area, and only one other even compares to Black Point Grill. We also have often received a sunday brunch here also. We often take out-of-town guests here as well. Please continue top provide such excellent dinner and brunch options, as well as such excellent service !
Exeptional. I have eaten there for 35 years, the best meal ever. I had the Caparis and the Hamberger (italian) Service great.
Dined here many times when we visit Sea Ranch (been going there for 30 years now). Good food, beautiful coastal views from the dining room, warm feeling of the room itself... a peaceful, relaxing place to dine.
We always enjoy the Grill especially since arrival of the new chef. Thank you for getting the espresso machine and for now serving excellent coffee! The dessert menu, however, is strangely boring and "old-school" given the inventiveness and superb quality of the main menu. Crème brulee is so boring--except maybe for the kids. Flour-free chocolate cake: there are so many other wonderful chocolate dessert possibilities, and this is already on too many dessert lists. Fruit crisp: surely there is something more creative that could be offered, and the quality of this item has been uneven in our experience. Even a good, homemade-style fruit pie a la mode would be more enticing. Service is always warm and friendly despite occasional waits (even with reservations) when the restaurant is busy.
We had an excellent time with friends at the Black Point Grill. The calimarri and artichoke appetizers were delicious as was the seafood main courses. And of course, the view of the ocean and rocky shoreline were wonderful!
It’s disappointing that 2 days in a row, the chef has refused to make me scramble eggs and green salade for lunch because it’s not in the menu. All high end places do this type of basic request. I didn’t ask for a risoto. I’m a good customer that stays for 6 nights and eats in the restaurant every day for lunch and dinner

So delightful we ate here three times during a three-week stay at Sea Ranch this past August. There is a nice range of items on the menu; it’s easy to make a meal of small plates or try a tasty daily special. The wine list has a fair collection of reasonably priced bottles, as well as some splurge selections.. Everyone we met on the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Considering the amazing views, this place is a bargain. We’ll be back next year.

lovely dinner, good service and with a later evening seating, all was very relaxed but attentive, not noisy. We had the halibut entree & the seafood bouillabaisse. Both were creatively presented, cooked to perfection,. Lets hope this chef stays on.
Meal was very good and service was stretched during a busy evening. Price was understandable for the experience though adding 25% gratuity for party of 6 seemed excessive for the service rendered.
The restaurant’s food has slipped from previous years, I’ve been coming there for more than 30 years. Most important, it appears there isn’t adequate staffing. t a busy dinner there were 2 servers and one host — no bussers. As a result, despite those folks working hard it was difficult to attend to arriving guests and get tables cleared and set. At lunch today there was a single server — and a busser I only saw once in almost an hlur. Need more staff — the ones you have are good butneed help.

The food is a great improvement since the new chef has arrived. I had the special, an Alaskan halibut. It was superb and a generous serving. We had stopped going to the Grill, but we are now eager to return.
A dear friend and I came hear many years ago when we stayed at a rental home at Sea Ranch. We always enjoyed bloody mary's at the bar. We had a lovely time and very sweet waitress who took our picture two times because the first ones didn't come out right. We watched a baby whale in the ocean with concern that it might be separated from it's pod. We have happy memories of Sea Ranch and especially Black Point Restaurant and bar and are very glad that we came to celebrate those good times.
Friends in from out of town, so 5 of us went for dinner. Two of the guests said that their dish was 'the best they had tasted' - of the halibut and the soup. Service was top notch also. Yes - we will all go again when we are dining together.
Birthday celebration was noted on the reservation through open table. Waitress was informed as we were seated. No congratulations, or a special treat offered at the end of our meal.
Service was disappointing: never checked with us to see if we needed anything, very slow and attitude was ‘doing us a favor’ by waiting on us.
We return here each year for a few days, the coast and The Sea Ranch is so beautiful. Great scenery, wonderful coastal walks and much to enjoy.
Unfortunately the dining room at the Lodge is in need of updating. The dining-room’s views are the very best, we wish the food, service and facility could match. What could be a four star venue is sadly 1/2 Star. Let’s hope that management takes notice and improves in all areas.
Lovely view. We arrived early and they seem flustered. Agreed to seat us and let us know dinner did not start till 5:30pm. We said okay so then they Seated us and let us enjoy the view with a drink. Not an extensive menu and food was good.
Good food, wine and service in a stunning place.
Enjoyed a really great dinner! Very creative and full of interesting flavors. The cold coconut and watermelon soup was delicious followed by a perfectly cooked halibut filet with all sorts of amazing flavors. Hats off to the chef and wait staff!
This restaurant badly needs upgrading. The food and service are appalling, but the setting demands quality. It's beyond my understanding that Searanch has such an inferior dining option to offer its occasional guests.

Off day??? It was early on a Sunday - ahead of time the menu looked great but I think they were off their game that day. Avocado 1/4, requested on the side of the salad came out of the kitchen 'old' - bruised and mushy. Not only did the chef put it in the window but the waitress brought it to the table. I heard a nearby table complain about their order as well. It was ok, not impressed.
