The Black Olive restaurant opened its doors in 1997 after renovating a Fell’s Point row house that had been vacant for years. Over the years the restaurant grew and became a Baltimore institution. In the early days of the restaurant, on the back patio, where the view of the Inner Harbor and Harbor East reminded one of the histories of a city, a dream was hatched.

This was a home run! In the 8+ years I've been coming here, this was the best experience my wife and I had. We celebrated our 30th anniversary

We had not been to the Black Olive for quite some time. We are very glad we came last weekend. The bronzino was absolutely delicious as was the grilled octopus appetizer. An order of hummus was quite good as well. While the Black Olive is not an inexpensive restaurant, compared to other eating places in downtown Baltimore it is an excellent value!

Our server expertly filleted the fish at our table. It was delicious. We had the combo appetizers which they reduced in size since it was only the two of us. We felt the staff was very accommodating and had a cheerful attitude.

Nice, cozy atmosphere with very comfortable chairs, but they were out of at least four types of seafood. I got the seafood pasta, but since they were out of scallops I paid $34 for a giant bowl of pasta that I could've made myself, 3 shrimp and one bite of a lobster tail. Our food took a very long time especially considering we were one of two couples in there and our server was clearly cleaning up and trying to leave rather refill our water, etc.

The food was good but very expensive. An entree for $52.00 without alcohol is salty. We ask for more tapenade and they charged us $10.00 on our bill.

Awful. Sat there for 20 mins and nobody came by to take a drink order. Admittedly, I can’t review food, because we bailed before we could order any.

But the smell of three day old fish and unappetizing olives seemed to warrant a one star review in that category.

We had not been to the Black Olive for several years and found it just a charming and delightful as we remembered. Fish is a definite when going to Black Olive and we have never had a bad experience. The food was wonderfully prepared and the presentation was superb.

Would recommend Black Olive for special occasion or just for a nice dinner out.

This is a can't miss evening out!
