Black Iron Kitchen and Bar
Black Iron Kitchen and Bar is Telluride’s best après ski lounge, and modern mountain cuisine experience. Our chef and staff cultivate menu items with the farmers, local purveyors and artisan growers, and connect with the land and food that fuels our passion. Black Iron offers something special for those special dietary requirements, such as a wide selection of gluten free and vegetarian dishes.
Comfortable for the entire family, the Black Iron interior is warm woods, dark steel, and natural stone, providing a modern yet casual dining environment. Located rinkside in Mountain Village, signature dining “fire-tables” accent the outdoor plaza, the perfect spot for people-watching and liquid restoration after a hard day on the slopes.
We came during ski season. Nice outdoor vibe with heaters at each table. The peach rye cocktail and wagyu burger were outstanding
It wasn't crowded at all....we were the only table outside and the waiter kept forgetting about us. Took longer than normal to get our drinks, and we asked for bread with our appetizer, then again several times. and it finally came when we were almost finished with our dinner. My entree came and it wasn't what I ordered, so everyone else began eating so theirs wouldn't get cold, and when mine arrived, it was not the same salad as we had ordered just a couple nights ago, nor was our soup. (which they told us they were the same). I couldn't even eat my salad it was so bad. The other guests entrees were good, but overall, it was not a good experience, very frustrating.
We really enjoyed our dining experience despite the freezing temperatures which we know the restaurant has no control over. I would say dress warm even for indoor dining experience! The food was outstanding, we went with the Elk Loin which was tender and seasoned perfectly. It was accompanied by vegetables and sweet potatoes which completed the meal.. Our server Peter was first glass and made us feel very welcome. Definitely recommend.
We are locals, haven’t dined here in over a year. Decided to give it a shot, the ambiance is lovely. The prices are absurd, such a tourist trap that the server could not possibly contemplate we would be anyone besides tourists visiting that restaurant. Will not be coming back for a long time if ever again.
Peter, our server, was amazing! Very attentive! Food was wonderful. The outdoor dining atmosphere was beautiful!
Because of Covid outdoor dining only. They do a great job of having lots of heaters and fire pits and also provide blankets. So they did the best they could. Made for a very cozy, romantic atmosphere. We got put in the far back corner so unfortunately didn’t really have the best seat. Felt like the kids table, out of the way.
Food was excellent. Very pricy but it’s Telluride so everything is very pricey.
Great atmosphere outside with fire table. Loved the wine and food. Very personable service.
Thanks!
It was great
Great meal, great experience, will return
Our server which I don’t remember the name was amazing, he went above and beyond to make us comfortable
An hour after our reservation time, we received our appetizers. An hour after that, we got our dinner. For $380, pre-tip, party of 6, we expected a lot more. The food was good. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend dining here
Great food and atmosphere
Excellent food, welcoming staff, great service. Keep up a good work!
Best duck ever!
Awesome experience, high level of professionalism from staff.
See you again tonight!
Our main complaint is that the steak was rare instead of medium.
Absolutely phenomenal meal but even better service. They weee more than accommodation and we couldn’t have asked for more.
We had a horrible experience with the managerial staff here--we had reserved a high top table for 4 persons, but were escorted to a regular table at the very edge of the patio without heat or light, with ambient temperature 25 degrees. When we asked to be placed at a high top, we were told none were available. When a table was vacated in the heat and in the light, we asked to be placed at this table but were told that we could not move there and they seated a double there. The manager told us "there was nothing he could do for us". Several minutes later, another table was vacated in the heated area and we were asked to be moved there but were told that was only for 6 people. Finally, the maitre de rearranged a high top table that had been vacant all along to accommodate 4 persons. This occurred over about 40 minutes. The manager who didn't help us at all was totally incompetent and needs further training. Once finally seated near heat and light, our wait staff was wonderful and helped to "save the evening".
Wonderful experience!!! Very good food and service!
Excellent food and service. The atmosphere on the patio is fantastic. Felt very safe in regards to COVID precautions.
Definitely feel the difference in quality of food with new chef! We are fans for sure! Service was amazing we ate there last night for dinner this morning for breakfast and tonight for dinner! Had 16 oz sirloin for dinner tonight and was fantastic! Love new chef! And great service too!
I actually didn’t have the chance to eat here. After making the reservation and receiving a text notification asking me to confirm the reservation, it was closed when we arrived.
The food, ambiance, and service were excellent. I have been there twice recently, one for dinner and one for lunch, with various people. We all ordered different things and each person was happy with this restaurant. Both times our server was Emily. She was professional, friendly, and attentive to our needs. She was very present. She possesses all the traits of a perfect server.
My daughter took me there for my 70th birthday. I love the atmosphere, server was wonderful and food delicious.
The ambiance was beautiful, location was great. The food was over -priced and not as good. The grilled veggies were too dry, it was hard to chew.. and they were not that yummy.
The flat iron steak was great!
Best meal we had in Telluride! Perfect evening on the Patio!!
Great outdoor ambience during Covid29; warm and toasty with many outdoor heaters.
Food and cocktails were great. Service was slow, didn’t come to check once we got our food or finished our food and didn’t have much for dessert.
Zack was awesome! We love the ambiance at Black Iron Kitchen and Bar. Great place to relax, sit outside and enjoy the mountain air. The food as always was cooked to perfection.
I had the buffalo strip steak. It was incredible. I also had the tater tots. They were so good. This place is great
Just meh. Flat iron special was ok. The blue cheese mashed potatoes were too blue cheesy.
Loved that that the restaurant had so many plant based options. The cauliflower and chickpea curry was fabulous.
Terrible food and service.
So good! Kid friendly and very nice staff. Food was amazing
We didn’t realize that the restaurant doesn’t open until 5. So, when we showed up, we were quite literally the only people there. A reservation was unnecessary. The food was fine. Our waiter was new to waiting tables. He was okay, he just needs more experience.
We have been to Black Iron Kitchen and Bar for 3 consecutive years. The main dining room looks nice, although both my children did not like their dinners and our waiter looked sick. Lunch their is much better. We are never going for dinner again.
Made reservations for a nice dinner, expected a lot more. We started out at the bar next door that’s also owned by the hotel and even the bartender told us not to go over. We saw how mismanaged the bar was, but decided to give Black Iron a shot. Before we were even seated, none of the staff looked like they knew what they were supposed to be doing. We sat down and two different waiters came to our table, one split water everywhere and didn’t come back to clean it up. We looked at the menu and it was nothing like we had seen online. Then the chef was walking around and stopping at all the tables, skipped us, and kept making rounds. The wait staff were running around looking like this was everyone’s first night at a restaurant. I really expected better.
This was our 2nd visit to Black Iron. We’ve always enjoyed the good, great drinks and nice atmosphere. Service was great at this visit; server was very attentive. Restaurant was not busy and we were pretty happy as we had two little ones with us. Maddie’s Tater Tots were an excellent start. We had a party of 8. There are 7 rectangular tots so order more than one serving. I was eating lighter so the Kale salad with added Hanger Steak was perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly. Others in our party had the Bison Strip Loin and highly recommend the Buffalo Short Ribs. Excellent wine and cocktails. One of Our desserts was just ok The Apple Streusel was simply cooked apples with white cheddar cheese. We did have one guest with a peanut allergy so maybe there was supposed to be a crumbled topping on the streusel but as it was served it was pretty bland. Otherwise we’ve always loved this spot and will be back on our next Mountain Village trip.
We loved the LIVE music! Great service & food! Overall, great experience!
