Black Forest Inn Ratings and Reviews
Great German food, but very pricey for what it is. 4 adults and 3 children $350 . 1 adult and child shared a meal, 2 adults ordered 1/2 orders and a total of 3 glasses of house wine and a glass of beer on tap were ordered. Service was very attentive without being annoying. Beautiful atmosphere and was quiet on a Sunday night. Enjoyable evening, but the price prohibits us from visiting again.
The Potato Leek soup was delicious and the Chocolate Soufle was outstanding. But we wanted the German Potato Salad, unfortunately for the 2nd time in a year it was not available. Last year, they ran out before 6pm and this year there was none at 4pm.
When we ordered coffee, we got a half a cup, so we ordered another. Again, a half a cup.
I was very surprised when the check came and we were charged for 4 cups of coffee, not two.
For $120 I would think the second cup of coffee would be free!
We enjoyed appetizers (escargot, potato leek soup, and smoked trout) and dinners (scallops, sauerbraten, fish and Christmas goose)!! We think of the Black Forest as a special treat because of the beautiful ambience and fantastic food. I feel at home there because of my German genes!!! I love being to make a reservation on Open Table!! Cheers!!
We went for a Holiday Dinner. Everything was great! The Service was excellent. The Staff couldn’t help you enough. Always making sure everything was perfect. The Food was phenomenal. It is definitely my Favorite Restaurant! I cannot wait to return! Glückliches neues Jahr!
Christmas Eve Dinner. Great Cocktails, Great appetizers, Dinner was awesome, wish it was a larger portion, maybe because we were one of the last seated ran out of food? Will go back to try the buffets as they were highly recommended. Our waitress was exceptional. Staff was very professional and courteous.
German fun but dated decor. The dark and dreary decor of the Black Forest was like stepping back in time and not in a good way. Felt very old fashioned and although the place is huge the bar is cramped and slow. The service was slow and the portions for the price were small. My pork black forest was disappointing. Thin pieces of pork with a brown salty sauce. The Jagerschnitzel was the best and the dessert of a chocolate molten cake looked unappetizing.
We have been to Blackforest Inn many times and were always very happy with food and service. The food is truly authentic German. One of my issues is the frequent live music. When we go there, we meet up with friends who we see a few times a year. Therefore, I request a table in the more quiet section of the restaurant. When we went there this Saturday, we were seated 50 minutes after our reservation time. I asked a couple of times how much longer it would take, and the hostess couldn't give me an answer and didn't seem to be concerned in the least bit.
Our table was at the open door to the main area where a band played Oktoberfest music and later Christmas music. During the live music, it was difficult to communicate with our friends. Once we were seated, it took a while to order drinks. My drink order was mixed up. It then took over 20 minutes until the waitress took our food order. When we received the appetizers, my order was mixed up again. Fortunately, after that the service went smoothly. Food was good as always.
Hopefully, the service issues on this visit were only due to the busy Holiday time.
We make it a point to come to the Black Forest Inn for my son's birthday. So far, it has been the third year. The food is beyond great, the atmosphere is wonderful. The only problem was that this time, we were seated next to a table that was filled with children. Their parents were at another table. Because there were not parents at that table, the noise level got quite loud. While I think it's great to include kids when it comes to dining out, I think it would have been a good idea to have some parents at that table to keep it at an acceptable level. The Black /Forest Inn is not a Chucky Cheese or a McDonalds, and the food (although very worth it) can be expensive. To pay a few hundred dollars for food (as I had invited 9 people), it would have been nice to have been able to talk without screaming to be heard over the din. Next year, I will be booking a separate room, but I will definitely come back.
