Black Forest Inn Ratings and Reviews
The Bavarian costumes are a bit kitschy and the tables are too close together (to be fair, this was Thanksgiving, and I'm sure they were trying to accommodate as many people as possible). The food is reliably good, and if the entrees seem expensive, it's worth remembering that they come with a choice of side dishes. Those who don't love German specialties like wienerschniztel and sauerbraten will find excellent seafood and other offerings (and for Thanksgiving, roast turkey of course). The creme brulee is the best in the area.
The Black Forest Inn features authentic German cuisine which is outstanding. The service was wonderful. Our waitress could not have been more accommodating and helped us with celebrating a birthday. She was able to advise us on menu selections and wine. This was our first visit, but I know we will be back.
This place was fantastic, great food, wide menu selection, so hard to choose one thing. Some very unusual options, plus some more accessible choices. Everything was tasty and cooked great. Fun, cozy German interior. A classic. Went here for a birthday party and we really loved everything we had. Will be back.
Always a good meal. Friendly server but service odd due to a family party that restaurant did not make known to its customers on their website not even on the door so it was odd to go in and find the seafood buffet cancelled (only offered once a month) and something we planned ahead for...
We have been going to the Black Forest for many years, sometimes just for a nice dinner, but always for Octoberfest. This trip did not disappoint. The food was wonderful, and our server was excellent. It is definitely worth the trip if you want authentic German food with appropriate music and atmosphere!
We had not been there in a long time so the Pub atmosphere with TV set on the wall threw us off. Food was excellent but when I asked for the beer sampler the waitress told me there was no glasses available for that. A few minutes latter the table next to us had a beer sampler placed on their table.
We will be back to try the buffet.
We had a wonderful dinner with my very pregnant daughter and her husband who was celebrating taking an exam and a birthday postponed. The place was a great as we remembered from long ago. Delicious German food and outstanding service in a lively atmosphere. Accommodated us even though we arrived late for our reservation.
Would surely recommend for a special night out with different food than the usual.
We actually like this place but the hostess station is the most disorganized I have ever seen. We waited a half hour after our reservation and they still couldn't even venture a guess as to how long it would be until we were seated. This happens all the time. It's a shame. It's a nice place, good food, good ambience, just no clue how to seat customers. They shouldn't accept reservations if they can't honor them. Or are they just trying to increase the bar business. And it's not the hostess herself because we have had this problem many times with many different hostesses. With a proper front of the house, this could be a very nice place. Someone needs to take charge.
A very attractive Bavarian atmosphere with stained glass windows and costumed waitresses. I have stayed in Bavaria and know the style. I was hoping for more Bavarian type dishes but althoughout there were just a few, it seemed to cater more to an American fare. There were NO German Pretzels available, the soft ones tied in that famous knot which was disappointing. Good apple strudel But all in all a cute restaurant which German charm. On Weekends they still have a German band and Oktober fest until the last weekend in October..
I think I would have enjoyed myself much more except for the crowd. I made a reservation for 4:30pm and unfortunately we arrived at 4:00pm and were told that due to the crowd and the number of large parties, our table would not be ready until 4:30pm. Ok we were early. We would finally seated at 4:48pm nd then only after I asked the hostess twice if it would be much longer. The small children were running around making much noise. Next time I come to the restaurant I will try to come later. Perhaps after children's bed time. However, the food, when it arrived was excellent ad the service was slow considering the crowd of people.waiting for tables. All factors taken into consideration, Good Show!
We went on a Saturday for my Husbands birthday and we had a blast. The German singer was great and made you feel like you were in Germany again. The waitresss we had was the best waitress I have had in awhile. She explained the menu to you and was kind and courteous throughout the night. We had the sample of beers which was a great sampler. The food was great and the dessert was fantastic!!! Would definitely come with a group again!
The food was delicious. But our server seemed to forget about us. It took too long to receive each course and other servers were more attentive to checking on drinks and taking away empty plates. The Octoberfest band was good. next time we would like to try the new Pub.
We have been going to this restaurant gem for years.
On this occasion and during Octoberfest this fine restaurant was absolutely on their game. The beer was fresh and flavorful, the German band played to the delight of the crowd, the traditional food was outstanding.
We go to Oktoberfest every year and have for a long time. We usually have a group of 10 plus and in the past have run into issues with our reservation. It was frustrating but not enough to keep us away. This year we were only 6 and we dined early to avoid the rush. Unfortunately we did not get to see Heinz. It is always a treat to meet with him even if only for a few minutes. Michelle was our server this year and she was delightful !
Always a delicious meal at the Black Forest!
