Absolutely delicious!!!!! If you love German food, COME HERE! If you don't think you like German food, then COME to the Black Forest Inn . . . it's amazing!!! Excellent all around: entrees, sides, Beer, dessert, live music, knowledgeable wait staff. It's pricey, but you get authentic, fresh food and good portions. Try the Black Forest cake -- yummmmmmm!

Good food, over priced for the portions you get, authentic, loud live music, but seating is very tight. I would go again but only for a special occasion due to cost and distance.

My family has loved Black Forest Inn for many years - it was great to see that they have made some improvements to the restaurant after coming back from their annual summer vacation! Their pub/bar area has beautiful new hardwood floors and a great new TV. The ambience there with some classic rock music and a more relaxed vibe is exactly what they needed. For those who still like the traditional restaurant, the rest still looks the same. I was able to see the new menu and it looks great! The new items offered sound delicious and seeing them on their Instagram page made me wish I could try them - tonight was their first weekend of Oktoberfest and a special menu was used. Still delicious, but I will definitely go back during the week to try some of the new dishes. Our server, Kevin, was as gracious, congenial, and welcoming as he always is. My herring appetizer was as good as I’ve ever had and my wienerschnitzel was tender, crispy, and exactly what I was in the mood for. The live band playing traditional German music was a great touch and it was fun to watch the more brave folks out on the dance floor. Some people may find the traditional, fine dining establishment a bit outdated...but it was great to see the owners are taking strides to keep up with the times and get a newer generation through their doors. I look very forward to going back in the not so distant future.

The Black Forest Inn offers delicious authentic German cuisine. Their Schweinshaxn (crispy pork shank) was better than what I had in Dinkelsbuhl.

We have enjoyed all of our visits to the Black Forest Inn. The waitstaff is helpful and responsive, the atmosphere is light and friendly. The Octoberfest is rowdy and fun. You can't go wrong with any food selection here, we have never be unhappy with any of our choices. Every time we go we choose another German dish to try. We travel an hour to get here and love it!

We have been going to the Black Forest Inn for many years. We have never had a bad meal and the service is always excellent. Lately, however, they have begun making changes in their menu that are rather disconcerting. For years, one of the guilty pleasures at the Black Forest were the delicious buttered croutons they served whil you waited for your dinner. At out las visit in June, they had disappeared because they were allegedly "too costly". Our server told us that were were not alone in our disappointment. They were missing still on our most recent visit this past Saturday. Not only were they missing, but many of the "Junior" portions which allowed anyone to get a slightly smaller portion for a slightly lower price. This was very disappointing.

This was the FIRST ever Friday Night Buffet "Clam Bake". We are regulars at the Black Forest Inn and the Clam Bake was good--but not great. (They modified their 1st Friday of the month Seafood Buffet slightly by subbing Boiled Blue Crab in place of 1/2 Lobsters, and added steamed clams and Clams Casino in place of other seafood selections.) The NE Clam Chowder was fabulous, but we had to ask for it since our waitress never offered it to us as. The steamed crabs were small, cold and unseasoned. And the tableware and settings were not conducive for picking crab. The dishes of raw shellfish (very good) and steamed clams (good) were often depleted. There was no drawn butter available and cocktail sauce was not served with the raw shellfish and was not easily found elsewhere on the buffet. The "sliced to order" pork and beef were not up to par compared to the normal selections most Friday nights. And the normal German sides were not offered like they typically do on Friday buffets. Desert was still included with the $44.95 Clam Bake buffet and was GREAT as usual. But $9 for 16 oz of Octoberfest beer seemed steep to me. (I don't remember ever noticing that the drink prices were that high before.) All in all, I wish that we had ordered off the regular menu instead this time.
