Have eaten here dozens of times over many years. The food is always delicious, Christmas goose is a must as is any veal dish. Now have a lighter pub menu and more "light" options. Classic dining at it's best.

This place is far and away our favorite place for a special dinner! I don't care if you order classic German or oysters on the half shell (which are as good or better than any at Legal Seafoods), you're going to say "WOW!, that's Great!" Yesterday we were there specifically for the Christmas Goose and we were not (and never have been) disappointed. Sometimes, I wonder what goes on in other peoples minds, I've seen reviews that say it's expensive at The Black Forest. Compared to what? Last night our Goose dinners plus 2 drinks, an appetizer and a dessert for right about $125 (including a 20-25% tip!) that's a fine dining bargain! The Black Forest is hard to beat. Try it.

Our only small complaint would be the drink cost. The prices were not listed on the menu. A very common glass of white wine turned out to be $10.50 on the bill. We were not expecting it to be so pricey - seemed like a house brand. Disappointing there.

There were two highlights: one was the great Spaten bier and the other was a wonderful Vienerschnizelette Greuere . I have eaten Vienerschnizel in Vienna, Austria, in open air cafe’s and I must say Black Forest Inn’s was better!! You won’t be disappointed.

The Bavarian costumes are a bit kitschy and the tables are too close together (to be fair, this was Thanksgiving, and I'm sure they were trying to accommodate as many people as possible). The food is reliably good, and if the entrees seem expensive, it's worth remembering that they come with a choice of side dishes. Those who don't love German specialties like wienerschniztel and sauerbraten will find excellent seafood and other offerings (and for Thanksgiving, roast turkey of course). The creme brulee is the best in the area.

We were seated on time, graciously and professional. Even though it was busy on thanksgiving, the service was attentive. The wait staff was very pleasant and took the time to chat briefly. The food was very, very good. Definitely a restaurant to go to.

The Black Forest Inn features authentic German cuisine which is outstanding. The service was wonderful. Our waitress could not have been more accommodating and helped us with celebrating a birthday. She was able to advise us on menu selections and wine. This was our first visit, but I know we will be back.

Was about average. The appetizer "jumbo" potato pancakes were not jumbo, an average size pancake. Did not get a whole lot of "meat" with the dinner and the spatzle according to my 84 yr old mom, was not the real deal

This place was fantastic, great food, wide menu selection, so hard to choose one thing. Some very unusual options, plus some more accessible choices. Everything was tasty and cooked great. Fun, cozy German interior. A classic. Went here for a birthday party and we really loved everything we had. Will be back.

Great authentic German beer and food. I do think it's a bit pricey but the homemade sides make it worth it. I like the ambiance and the fact the waitresses wear authentic garb.

We've been coming here for several years. Great place for authentic German cuisine.
Service is always slow, so we typically go for Friday night buffet because it is faster to serve ourselves. The buffet has a very nice selection of traditional German food.

Always a great meal at the BFI. I had the Chealean Sea Bass - it was a special of the day. Tasted great . My son had it also. German beer with my meal and one for desert. Bread pudding for desert also was very good.

Always a good meal. Friendly server but service odd due to a family party that restaurant did not make known to its customers on their website not even on the door so it was odd to go in and find the seafood buffet cancelled (only offered once a month) and something we planned ahead for...

We have been going to the Black Forest for many years, sometimes just for a nice dinner, but always for Octoberfest. This trip did not disappoint. We had not been there in a long time so the Pub atmosphere with TV set on the wall threw us off. Food was excellent but when I asked for the beer sampler the waitress told me there was no glasses available for that. A few minutes latter the table next to us had a beer sampler placed on their table.
We will be back to try the buffet.

We had a wonderful dinner with my very pregnant daughter and her husband who was celebrating taking an exam and a birthday postponed. The place was a great as we remembered from long ago. Delicious German food and outstanding service in a lively atmosphere. Accommodated us even though we arrived late for our reservation.
Would surely recommend for a special night out with different food than the usual.

We actually like this place but the hostess station is the most disorganized I have ever seen. We waited a half hour after our reservation and they still couldn't even venture a guess as to how long it would be until we were seated. This happens all the time. It's a shame. It's a nice place, good food, good ambience, just no clue how to seat customers. They shouldn't accept reservations if they can't honor them. Or are they just trying to increase the bar business. And it's not the hostess herself because we have had this problem many times with many different hostesses. With a proper front of the house, this could be a very nice place. Someone needs to take charge.

A very attractive Bavarian atmosphere with stained glass windows and costumed waitresses. I have stayed in Bavaria and know the style. I was hoping for more Bavarian type dishes but althoughout there were just a few, it seemed to cater more to an American fare. There were NO German Pretzels available, the soft ones tied in that famous knot which was disappointing. Good apple strudel But all in all a cute restaurant which German charm. On Weekends they still have a German band and Oktober fest until the last weekend in October..

I think I would have enjoyed myself much more except for the crowd. I made a reservation for 4:30pm and unfortunately we arrived at 4:00pm and were told that due to the crowd and the number of large parties, our table would not be ready until 4:30pm. Ok we were early. We would finally seated at 4:48pm nd then only after I asked the hostess twice if it would be much longer. The small children were running around making much noise. Next time I come to the restaurant I will try to come later. Perhaps after children's bed time. However, the food, when it arrived was excellent ad the service was slow considering the crowd of people.waiting for tables. All factors taken into consideration, Good Show!

We went on a Saturday for my Husbands birthday and we had a blast. The German singer was great and made you feel like you were in Germany again. The waitresss we had was the best waitress I have had in awhile. She explained the menu to you and was kind and courteous throughout the night. We had the sample of beers which was a great sampler. The food was great and the dessert was fantastic!!! Would definitely come with a group again!

We go to Oktoberfest every year and have for a long time. We usually have a group of 10 plus and in the past have run into issues with our reservation. It was frustrating but not enough to keep us away. This year we were only 6 and we dined early to avoid the rush. Unfortunately we did not get to see Heinz. It is always a treat to meet with him even if only for a few minutes. Michelle was our server this year and she was delightful !
Always a delicious meal at the Black Forest!
