Black Cat, opened in 2006 and founded by Chef Eric Skokan and his wife, Jill, serves inspired farm to table cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own, full-scale 130 acre certified Organic farm. By day, Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.

Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar. The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.

Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits & local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.
The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Every course is superb. And most of the food is grown locally in Boulder county. Sommelier Logan loves wine and picks fun surprises for you. If you’re going to eat upscale in boulder, nothing comes close to Black Cat.

the vegetarian meal was not up to theBlack Cat's usual standard. The ravioli was too al dente, hard to bite into.

Creative and Unique, Black Cat had exceptional concepts and the Chef's choice offering was an experience my wife and I will talk about for a long time. The wine pairings were fun, hearing the stories of their origination made it very interesting. Certainly worth checking it out for a special occasion, but pretty pricey to consider coming regularly, but it's something we expected going into it.

The hostess was so accommodating. There was a bit of confusion with our reservation but she worked it out. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Sommelier was outstanding! Great place to celebrate our anniversary.

The staff worked collaboratively and we were treated like dear friends by all. Best Foie gras paired with Sauternes.

Celebrated our anniversary, it will be a memorable evening.

Chef Eric Skokan and team were amazing on our first visit to Black Cat. We went with the 6-course chef’s tasting menu, accompanied by inventive wine pairings from the sommelier. Equal parts fun and delicious, it was a terrific meal in a sophisticated (but not stuffy) atmosphere, with terrific service throughout. The care and precision that this true farm-to-table establishment puts every detail was evident. Will definitely return on a future trip to Boulder.

This was a fabulous treat. The tasting menu with the premium wine pairings was well worth the cost with sommelier Logan handing out surprise wine pairings. If you are in Boulder and want a treat, this is a wonderful dining experience.

We would consider another trip to Boulder just to eat here again. We have raved about our meal to friends. We were easily convinced to try the tasting menu, since they could accommodate a fussy carnivore and vegetarian with food allergies. What a bargain. All courses were great, but the food was too abundant (we enjoyed our last savory courses & one dessert for lunch the following day- perfect).
Food and ambiance were fantastic, but the real winner was Logan, the sommelier. We have pivoted away from wine pairings lately as most are overpriced and uninformative ("this is some red wine from California"). The wine choices were remarkable -- unusual wines and all with descriptions of the grapes, wine-makers, locations. This young man is so gifted, and very fortunate to have found his calling.
Now the Black Cat is taunting me with e-mails telling me that if only I lived in Colorado, I could be enjoying whatever is fresh this week. Sigh.

Just not a great place to dine in Boulder. There are many others that are much better. They push the $78 tasting menu which is really not all that different than what is on the menu or a good value. The back room, where we were, is windowless and drab. The waitress was nice, but weird. We all had "high cheeks"- an Edith. This is my second time there in a couple years, and it will be my last.

The food was great, but I had the lamb that arrived as a large "leg" on my plate. It was too difficult to eat (impossible to cut) in a nice restaurant so I ate the sides and took the lamb home where I could tie into it without seeming rude at a restaurant. It was good, just really messy and, I don't think, a good choice at a restaurant.
The beef was great that my husband had.

You must go to Black Cat. Everything was top notch without being pretentious. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairings, one premium pairing and one standard pairing. Each dish was fresh, beautiful, creative and delicious. We compared the pairings, premium versus standard, and all were well chosen. The sommelier was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and approachable. He presented the wines with a storyteller quality that was delightful and elevated the experience. It was expensive, but worth every penny. If you want to enjoy a relaxed world class dining experience you must go to Black Cat! Meeeeeeeeeow!!!!!

We ordered the chef’s tasting menu and premium wine tasting, which we do a couple times a year for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. Every time, the servers are prompt, friendly and highly knowledgeable, the food is delicious and it is overall a wonderful experience. When we are done, we always say we should split one chefs tasting between the two of us because there are so many courses. It’s quite expensive, but worth it!

Friendly staff on the way in, you feel the nice ambiance immediately, just right lighting. Side by side seating for couples. We did the 6 course chef's menu with the premium wine pairing. Our sommelier Logan was excellent with entertaining stories he shared with each pairing. I won't go into details regarding each course, but the majority of their ingredients are sourced from their own farm. A good farm to table restaurant to check out while in Boulder.
